Personal Description:
I have a degree in Physics from the University of Nottingham and have taught Science in schools for over 8 years. I have a wide variety of teaching experience, from teaching English as a foreign language to a small group of 6 year olds, to teaching A level Physics in college. I love teaching and especially enjoy seeing students progress, become more confident and gain a real interest and love of the subject.

- How long is your waiting list?

My after school, evening and weekend lessons have a 2-3 year waiting list. This can fluctuate according to the number of Year 11 students staying on for sixth form, the number of siblings starting lessons and requests for extra lessons from my current students. I always recommend students join my waiting list in Year 7 to ensure a slot for GCSE. However I understand this isn't always possible and I'll always try where I can to accommodate you.

- What does a typical lesson involve?

This completely depends on the individual student! I'm very lead by the aspirations, ability and talents of all the wonderful students I teach.

In general we go through the specification of their particular qualifications in detail and then attempt the relevant exam question booklets I put together. Kinaesthetic learners love my box of molecules! Every lesson has a positive and productive atmosphere to boost my student's confidence and help them achieve their individual potentials.

Highly recommend!!! Ellie has genuinely been the best chemistry teacher I have had, she is also an examiner which is a great help as her knowledge is always up to date not only with content but also exam questions and mark schemes. She explains the chemistry in as much detail as you need as opposed to the majority of teachers who focus more on memorisation and wrote learning. So you have a good understanding (which is the best teaching style as exam questions can require a lot of application.) I graduated from Loughborough University with a BSc in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2003 and a year later completed my post graduate certificate in Education at the same university. I work for the Cambridge International Exam Board, being an experienced marker of A Level chemistry. I am in my eighth year of teaching Science up to GCSE level and I have a strong subject knowledge across all areas of Biology, Chemistry & Physics. I am very familiar with the new science specification (currently teaching AQA Trilogy) and the levels of knowledge required for KS3 and KS4.

Tutoring Approach:
My sessions can be adapted to specific needs and are planned to focus on areas of weakness identified. With KS3 (Years 7-8) I focus on working scientifically and key ideas in science, while I structure KS4 (Years 9-11) sessions around knowledge retrieval practice, linking scientific ideas and exam technique.

Tutoring Approach:
I usually start with the current topics that student is studying in the school and explain to the student that topic and related background knowledge. As I teach one to one, my pace is faster than school and we usually finish the topic in one or sometimes two classes. And then we do previous topics and I explain doubts on those topics. I usually do not teach students that they already know, instead, start topic wise past papers of the topics students feel he or she knows well.

I explain to students how to write the answer to the questions asked,... not what they know... in a very concise and complete manner and relate the answers to the mark schemes of the past papers... and there is a lot of similar things that I explain...

I have been teaching in Chemistry and Science since 2002 working at several High Schools in Turkey. Between 2016 and 2019, I was working  at a Science School as a Chemistry teacher. During 2 years, I coached and prepared the students for the National Chemistry Olympiad.  .I have been tutoring in Chemistry, Science and Turkish lessons since July 2019 in the United Kingdom to support Turkish students.

I have worked within primary schools, as a teacher across many year groups, for almost 10 years. I am currently taking a break from school life after a relocation, but still love to be involved in education.

I hold a BA (Hons) degree, and QTS. I am a second-year student at Imperial College London studying Physics. Tutoring has always been my calling. I am an eager and responsible individual with a passion for maths and physics. I believe that explaining concepts with a clear background of where this information comes from helps students grasp information a lot quicker and I have experienced this being skipped at school myself. I am very versatile and can tutor 1:1 or in small groups.
