Most of my school and college education took place in Dudley (West Midlands) and I studied Biochemistry, at Leeds University (1975-8). I am married and have lived in Cheshire since Dec 1978. We have a son and a daughter; both graduated from Universities in Manchester. Following my voluntary redundancy from AstraZeneca, (Jun 2008), I am now a self-employed Tutor / Consultant. Teaching Experience:
During my long service in the Pharma industry (~30 years), I have run many short courses and workshops. During 2005/6, I mentored a pupil (Year 10/11) at St. Peter's High School, Longsight, organised by the University of Manchester. I usually start with the current topics that student is studying in the school and explain to the student that topic and related background knowledge. As I teach one to one, my pace is faster than school and we usually finish the topic in one or sometimes two classes. And then we do previous topics and I explain doubts on those topics. I have never been a super forceful or strict tutor and think that trying to be too overbearing, particularly in sessions outside of or extra to school like tutoring, just makes people perform worse. I will always try and be positive and make sure sessions are not painful for students (as I remember how much doing homework can be a chore!), but equally make sure students are getting the most out of sessions by asking questions of them to demonstrate their knowledge and checking they're confident with what we've done.

Hi! My name is Amr, I am a qualified lecturer with and holds PhD and MSc in Pharmaceutical Scinces and Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE). I have over 20 years of teaching experience in Science and Mathematics.

I am passionate about helping students develop confidence, deepen their understanding, and achieve their academic goals. Throughout my career, I have taught and supported students across a wide range of levels, from GCSE and A-Level.

My approach focuses on building strong foundations, improving problem-solving skills, and developing effective exam techniques. I believe that every student can succeed when given the right support, encouragement, and learning strategies.

Over the years, I have helped many students significantly improve their grades, gain confidence in challenging subjects, and secure places at their preferred schools, colleges, and universities.

In 2024 65% of my students achieved grades 7-9 in GCSE Maths and Sciences.

Teaching Experience:
I am an experienced and passionate Maths and Science Tutor with extensive teaching experience across all three sciences - Biology, Chemistry, and Physics - including Combined Science at both GCSE and A-Level. Over the years, I have successfully taught students from a wide range of academic backgrounds and abilities, helping them build confidence, strengthen their scientific understanding, and achieve excellent examination results.

I am fully familiar with all major UK exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, and OCR, which allows me to tailor lessons specifically to the requirements, assessment styles, and mark schemes of each specification. I have a strong track record of student achievement, with many students improving by at least two grades after working with me. One of my most rewarding success stories involved students who were initially predicted grades 3-3 in Combined Science and went on to achieve grades 7-6 in their final GCSE examinations.
Over the years, my A level students have progressed into fields such as Medicine, Dentistry, Mechanical Engineering, and Psychology.
