I am a patient, friendly and enthusiastic tutor. I come from an academic background, with a Ph.D in Molecular Biology followed by 3 years Post-doctoral Research at University of Edinburgh and therefore have a thorough and extensive knowledge of the subjects I tutor in. I also use multimedia aids to help students visualise biological/chemical processes where appropriate and I have created PowerPoint files covering all A-level and GCSE Biology and Chemistry topics, tailored to each syllabus/exam board. My academic research background has given me a very sound understanding of how to interpret and analyse scientific data, a major theme in A-level Biology exams and one that many students struggle with. I will happily assist students in building their confidence with respect to this trickier element of the course.

Since March 2020 , all of my tuition has been online (via Zoom) and I have adapted my lessons to work equally well, using interactive tools and easy sharing of resources. I have been a teacher for many years having received my PGCE in 1992. Since that time I have worked in a variety of schools in the state and private sectors both in London and Oxfordshire. I will first see what the student finds most difficult and what their weaknesses are and then strive to overcome them. Each student will have their own learning methods, some may learn by understanding the whole concept then going into the exam questions, some want to go through exam questions while they are learning the concept to see how the theory can be applied to the problems. Some may learn visually with experiments or examples whereas others will learn through trial and improvement of their own. I will spend the first session finding out how they like to learn and design a program just right for that individual student.
Hopefully once we start tutoring, the students will feel much more confident with the subject and the key to success for any exam is self confidence. I will always be there as a guide, a mentor, a friend to help them through what they find difficult.

Hi! My name is Amr, I am a qualified lecturer with and holds PhD and MSc in Pharmaceutical Scinces and Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE). I have over 20 years of teaching experience in Science and Mathematics.

I am passionate about helping students develop confidence, deepen their understanding, and achieve their academic goals. Throughout my career, I have taught and supported students across a wide range of levels, from GCSE and A-Level.

My approach focuses on building strong foundations, improving problem-solving skills, and developing effective exam techniques. I believe that every student can succeed when given the right support, encouragement, and learning strategies.

Over the years, I have helped many students significantly improve their grades, gain confidence in challenging subjects, and secure places at their preferred schools, colleges, and universities.

In 2024 65% of my students achieved grades 7-9 in GCSE Maths and Sciences.
In 2025 some of my students joined Medicine, Engineering and Law.

Teaching Experience:
I am an experienced and passionate Maths and Science Tutor with extensive teaching experience across all three sciences - Biology, Chemistry, and Physics - including Combined Science at both GCSE and A-Level. Over the years, my A level students have progressed into fields such as Medicine, Dentistry, Mechanical Engineering, and Psychology.

I'm Mel, a father of three children living in Manchester. I tutor for entrance exams and GCSE and KS3 Maths, English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Additionally I tutor A level Biology and welcome adult learners.

Teaching Experience:
For the last ten years I have tutored hundreds of students in Maths, English, Biology, chemistry and Physics. I've also taught a number of students in the US, China, Russia, Canada and many countries in Europe. To date I have taught 20,000+ lessons.

Tutoring Approach:
I like to keep a flexible teaching style to work out what is best for each student.

Depending on what you need help with, we`ll work together in your first lesson to design a plan that will take you to where you need to be.

This might involve practising your maths skills, gaining confidence with concepts on the syllabus, or translating your knowledge more effectively into marks on your exam. Many students struggle with exam technique and it is definitely something a little tutoring can help with.

I have developed plenty of resources through my experience as a tutor to help students learn the key concepts on the biology syllabus for GCSE and A Level, and to get better at using this to tackle the harder exam questions. We`ll use a combination of slideshows, online whiteboard tasks, lots of discussion, and past paper practice to help you get the marks you need.
