Personal Description:
I am 54 years old, I am married with four children. I have a degree ( Joint Honours, 2.1 in Agriculture with Agricultural Economics) and a Cert Ed. I am a member of the Institute for Learning. I have taught a wide range of subjects over 28 years and am able to coach you to success whether you are looking for science, geography, Excel spreadsheets, English as a Foreign Language or even French and German ( I worked in both countries when I was younger)

Teaching Experience:
I can help you prepare for exams in Geography, Biology, Ecology, French and German. I have taught English as a Foreign Language over many years. I can also help you with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, particularly for Business. I am a patient, enthusiastic and committed teacher with 28 years experience particularly with post 16 and adult education. I have taught agriculture and related topics over that time, and very much enjoyed diversifying my teaching portfolio as new courses arose at the college. I have taught a range of biology and geography related topics, including plant and soil science, crop science, crop production, livestock production, environmental issues, ecology, woodland management. In business I have helped many people develop diverse enterprises, preparing carefully costed cash flow projections. I very much enjoy seeing people develop confidence with Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, which are an invaluable tool.

Tutoring Approach:
I am convinced that one-to-one tuition is by far the most efficient way in which a person can progress and gain confidence. Often someone can grasp a topic in 5 minutes of one-to-one that would have taken 2 hours to cover with a larger group. Once you are confident with a topic, we move on rapidly to the next one. A current A level tutee of mine told his father "I learnt more in that 2 hour session than I have all term at school" and his headteacher wrote to congratulate him on his improved grades. (The reason for this is not that his teacher is bad, far from it, but a tutor can give you personal one-to-one attention, concentrating on the bits you need) I always ensure that the learners are confident with each step before progressing further.

Testimonials

I am currently studying A level French and I am very pleased to be able to say that my French has improved more than I ever thought it would since starting tuition with Michel. In just over one month, I have improved by two whole grades, which has been evident from mock exam results in class at school. I thoroughly enjoy my lessons with Michel because I do not feel embarrassed to ask seemingly simple questions, which I feel I cannot ask in my class at school.
E. H. - Bromley

My daughter who is doing A level French was really struggling before we found Michel. He has really motivated her and has made lessons more interesting . She has 2 hour lessons but she is surprised how quick the time goes. I would highly recommend Michel. I can see he gets pleasure helping his pupils make progress. My daughter`s accent has also greatly improved with Michel`s help.
Mrs G - Croydon

I`ve just received my results and I`m very happy to tell you that I got an A for my French I-GCSE. Thank you for all your help because it really made a difference! - G - Bromley

Hi Michel,
Thank you for your help. I got A* in my French oral! - C. Sevenoaks School

I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the sessions, they really helped me get a high grade for speaking and an overall A. Thank you so much - S - Orpington

Personal Description:
An experienced information technology consultant working in the enterprise arena, I have a passion for teaching.
I have previous teaching experience not only on a one-to-one basis but also in the classroom environment.
Having attended private primary and secondary schools with exceptional teaching standards throughout, I have gained a lot of valuable experience and understanding in how educators can take their students the extra mile to ensure that not only do they get the best grades but also to ensure that students get the best from their education in order to assist them later in life, whether that be at university or in their careers.

Teaching Experience:
Having taught in both classroom and one-on-one based environments, I have a broad range of skills and expertise when it comes to actually lay out the knowledge. Private tutoring has been something I have always done on the side and having taught in such environments for over four years, I have significant experience in teaching and learning styles which can assist students on a multitude of levels.
I have taught students from secondary school to university level, the main subjects taught being Maths, English, Sciences, Law, Business Studies and Information Technology.
University Level can also be catered for, subjects such as Law, Business Studies and IT/Computing.

Tutoring Approach:
I like to give students a relaxed environment in which they can learn and enjoy. Furthermore, I believe working outside of lessons is also a key part to learning and developing one's knowledge hence my use of short yet effective homework exercises which not only prepare students for the next session but also help reinforce what they have already learnt. Using these techniques, I am able to better assist the student(s) on where they may need some more assistance. Of course, every student is different and learning techniques always need to be worked upon in order to ensure that students get the most out of their sessions with me.

Tutoring Approach:
Every new batch of tuition starts with getting to know more about the students. It is at the same time important to give the students enough space to familiarise themselves with me. A discussion will then follow to scope down what will be covered in the syllabus. A work plan is also devised with the aim to complete the syllabus well before the examinations, so as to have adequate time for revision. The following steps outline the process of each tuition session:
1. Initiate the subject or topic based on discussion of a real life example / scenario
2. Introduce the theoretical part of the subject or topic
3. Explain how the theory links to the real life example / scenario
4. Work out and explain some examples
5. Immediate evaluation of student's understanding through questions and answers
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until satisfactory response of the student (steps 1, 2 and 3 may also be repeated if required)
7. Give homework and a brief discussion on what will be covered in the next tuition session

Note: Each tuition session starts with the correction of the previous session's homework and explanation of any problem areas, including a summing up of what was covered in the previous tuition session.

I graduated from the University of Bath with a 2.1 in Economics and Politics and have a decade of real world experience having worked as a management consultant and senior marketing roles in the healthcare and lifesciences industry. Teaching Experience:
I have 8 years of teaching experience. I have supported students with dyslexia and other learning needs improve their written work and improve the accuracy and understanding of technical and diagrammatic analysis in Economics

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is to identify the students need whether that's understanding the content fully or being able to apply their knowledge to exam questions. Or indeed whether the student needs to practise structuring their writing to more clearly align with the mark schemes from the examiner. In addition some students need support organising themselves and planning their revision. I believe it should complement and enhance their school work in a positive way. Ideally students should use the sessions to enable them to become more independent in their learning rather than tutoring for perpetuity.
