I recieved a BSc in Biomedical Science and an MSc in Forensic Medical Science at both of these universities (respectively). My fascination with Science began in school, fueled by a curiosity about how the human body functions. This passion led me to study Anatomical Sciences at University before pursuing my PGCE. Today, my goal is to ignite that same spark in my students.
I believe that even the most complex Biological pathways or Physics principles can be mastered when broken down into digestible, logical steps. My tutoring style is rooted in patience and empathy; I understand that Science can feel overwhelming, and I provide a calm, supportive environment where students feel confident asking 'why.' Whether we are exploring the intricacies of A-level Biology or building a foundation in KS3 Science, I tailor my pace to the individual, ensuring they not only understand the subject but truly enjoy the process of learning it.

I am a fully qualified teacher with over 12 years of experience in secondary and sixth-form education. During my career, I progressed to the role of Head of Science, where I was responsible for curriculum development and ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across all three disciplines.

Examiner Status: Having examined for AQA for several years, I have a precise understanding of how mark schemes are applied and the common errors that cost students marks.
A-Level Specialist: Extensive experience teaching A-Level Biology across both AQA and OCR specifications, focusing on the bridge between GCSE and the rigorous demands of Post-16 study.
GCSE Expert: 12+ years of delivering Triple and Combined Science for AQA, OCR, and Edexcel, with a proven track record of helping students exceed their predicted grades.

Tutoring Approach:
My sessions are strategically designed to move students from passive learning to active exam mastery. Each one-hour session is tailored to the student's specific hurdles, whether that is grasping complex biological pathways or mastering the mathematical requirements of Physics.
As an examiner, I place a heavy emphasis on application of knowledge. We don't just "cover the content"; we deconstruct mark schemes to understand exactly what examiners are looking for. We will focus on:
Command Word Clarity: Understanding the difference between "describe," "explain," and "evaluate."
Memory Retention: Using proven techniques to ensure information sticks long-term.

Personal Description:
I have a wealth of experience teaching A level Biology; I possess excellent communication skills which will facilitate an optimum online learning experience. I am a passionate, friendly and thorough teacher of Biology. My subject knowledge and understanding of the examinations set are outstanding. My organisational skills ensure that all tuitions are well planned and progress fluently from one lesson to the next. I have much experience with one-to-one A level tuition with students of a range of abilities. I have helped many students with their applications to Medicine and Dentistry.
I am currently not working in a full-time position as recently married and relocated (and enjoying life!) and therefore, I have much flexibility in terms of offering suitable time slots!

Teaching Experience:
I have 25 years of teaching A level Biology. I have worked as Head of Science in an outstanding sixth form college. Also, I have experience as an examiner for Biology A level.
This wealth of experience means that I am very qualified to help your son / daughter achieve their maximum potential in Biology A level.
I have taught all of the examination boards and have a thorough understanding of exam technique and mark schemes. I am fluent in all of the necessary biological terminology required for specific exam boards.

Tutoring Approach:
I adopt a friendly and personable style, but I am very much exam focussed ensuring plenty of use of past paper questions (which I set and mark as homework - this is unusual and included in the fee). I explain all difficult biological concepts thoroughly, coupled with the use of PowerPoint presentations. I ensure every aspect of the specification is covered thoroughly in order for students to meet mark scheme terminology. Students will have full exposure to all three exam papers and, therefore, will feel fully confident sitting their actual exams.

I have worked full time at a secondary school in London since 2012 and also a private tutor. I lead seminars and focus groups for sixth form students covering and providing extra support in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. I also offer private tuition sessions covering all Science subjects and Maths.

I am passionate about teaching and find my job role extremely rewarding.
