Personal Description:
I have a degree in Physics from the University of Nottingham and have taught Science in schools for over 8 years. I have a wide variety of teaching experience, from teaching English as a foreign language to a small group of 6 year olds, to teaching A level Physics in college. I love teaching and especially enjoy seeing students progress, become more confident and gain a real interest and love of the subject.
Teaching Experience:
I have now been tutoring for over 3 years, helping many students to gain the grades they require in their GCSE and A level exams for Science and Maths.
Previously, I spent 7 years living in Thailand where I taught both England (as a foreign language) and Science in an International Program at one of the top government schools. I also taught English, Maths and Science as a tutor, both on a one-to-one basis and to small groups.
I gained a PGCE in Secondary Science from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2009 and worked as a supply teacher in a number of secondary schools in the Cheshire area before becoming a full time tutor.
Tutoring Approach:
I like to encourage a love of the subject and take great joy in seeing students progress and become successful. I try to be friendly and supportive whilst also striving for excellent results. I try to make sessions interesting and informative by personalising the work to centre around the interests and needs of the individual student and by making use of ICT resources.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified secondary school teacher and a medical professional. I always had passion for teaching because I believe for a strong building you need a solid foundation. I have done my Medicine and was good academically throughout. I have good understanding of Science and Mathematics. I have completed my secondary school teacher qualification and PGCE from Birmingham City University in 2016
Teaching Experience:
I have taught my Juniors in School and College. I have now completed my PGCE and obtained a fully qualified teacher status. This gave me a better understanding of different approaches in teaching. I have few teaching skills and techniques which also brings fun in learning. I have taught at a local High School, so I fully understand the needs of a student. I have gained specialty in Science subjects but I also teach Mathematics up to GCSE level.
Tutoring Approach:
I am a firm believer that practice makes a man perfect. Hard work and enthusiasm are key ingredients to success. My style of teaching is to make any subject fun and easy to learn. Simple approach with lots of examples makes any subject fun and easy. It is very important to clear any misconceptions and make the subject very interesting. My approach to tutoring would be to do a detailed assessment and then concentrate on key areas where help is required.

⭐ Tutoring for more than 10 years in English, Maths and the Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, & Physics)
⭐ MSc in Positive Psychology; tutored and mentored students from all backgrounds including shy/anxious/introverted/SEN students
⭐ I believe in a well-rounded holistic education; not just passing exams; every student I have worked with has improved their grade(s) and grown in confidence
Below you can find more information about my tutoring experience, approach, and what parents have said about my tutoring.
Teaching Experience:
Since 2010, I have been tutoring English, Maths and the individual Sciences; Biology, Chemistry & Physics.
I have taught at both primary- and secondary-school levels, with my students ranging between the ages of 6 and 16.
I can also help with entrance examinations for secondary school (including verbal and non-verbal reasoning), and I have provided mentorship and coaching when it comes to UCAS application forms, personal statements and CV writing.
Whilst I enjoyed some of the subjects at school, certain subjects and topics (including Maths!) didn't come naturally to me. I achieved 7A*s and 5As at GCSE and studied Maths, Biology & Chemistry at A-Level.
Tutoring Approach:
I have a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology and my tutoring approach is a student-centred one. My experience covers tutoring, mentoring and coaching and I use a combination of the three in my work.
I am yet to come across a student who doesn't possess the potential to improve. More often than not, it is the large class sizes at school, or a teacher whose approach isn't the right fit, which explains why a student doesn't understand a particular subject, or particular topics within that subject.
Through the 1-to-1 work I do with students, not only have I witnessed some remarkable grade improvements but also some amazing transformations in confidence. I strongly feel that the work I do is more than merely improving grades for exams.
⭐ My philosophy is that if you are struggling with a particular subject or topic, it's not your fault and there's nothing wrong with you. It simply means you've not been taught in a way that makes sense to you (or you've not been given the time and attention to be taught properly - in a big class and with the pressures on teachers to deliver an extensive curriculum).
⭐ I'm based near Twickenham/Teddington/Kingston and offer tutoring in-person and online (my preference is in-person where possible, as this tends to work best for the tutoring relationship and the outcomes that can be achieved).
⭐ Please note: I can only take on a limited number of students, so you're encouraged to apply early before spaces fill up.

Here are some of the references and messages I have received from parents and students:
"Hi Jas - Alfie got 3 B's for each of his sciences! He only just missed an A for Chemistry. He is absolutely delighted... Thank you for all your help - there is no doubt it made a huge difference to him. You were a total star to him - and the summer has been good to him - his confidence is finally starting to improve & I think it's a lot down to your encouragement and believing in him.

"Jas has tutored our daughter for the last few months in Chemistry, Biology and Physics at GCSE level. Jas was very reliable, committed and enthusiastic in his role and we feel our daughter greatly benefitted from his tutoring. He was always encouraging and recognising her needs were beyond the academic, spent time developing her confidence in the academic subjects he was teaching her as well as also encouraging her self-belief. He appeared sensitive to her needs and adapted the work accordingly. Jas also demonstrated great insight in what motivated our daughter and went out of his way to make every session engaging and enjoyable. Jas also developed a positive, professional relationship with both my husband and I, keeping us well informed about our daughter's progress and what support we could give her. I feel that this wider, more holistic approach, really helped our daughter feel better about herself, as well as develop a positive approach towards her exams which she has now entered with considerably more knowledge and confidence than had she not worked with him. I also recommended Jas to a friend who's son was also doing his GCSE's and she told me how pleased they were with the help he had been able to give to him. I would have no hesitation in recommending Jas to others who are looking for GCSE tutoring."
- Emma & Paul G. (parents)
"Jas tutored my son Nathan for his Chemistry and German GCSEs in 2013. I found him to be a reliable and conscientious young man and I was very happy with his services."
- Sally C. (parent)
"Jas has helped Daniel enormously with his maths and science over the past few months in preparation for the upcoming GCSE's. He is a charming and good humored person who Daniel relates to quite well which made the two hours tuition every Saturday morning not such a chore! Both Daniel and I, as a parent, would certainly recommend Jas to any future students."
- Denise S. (parent)
Jas has been tutoring both my children in preparation for their 11+ exams. Both Oliver and Sofia love Jas and they benefited immensely from his caring passionate and professional tutoring system. I would never hesitate to ask Jas to help both my children again if they encounter difficulties in any subject or helping them again getting ready for common entrance exams. In a nutshell, having had previous experiences with various tutors, I would strongly recommend him to anyone, as I already have done.

"I first met Jas when I was looking for a maths tutor for my 9 year old daughter. Upon reading his profile I warmed instantly to his holistic and person-centred approach. My daughter is a quiet girl and having not had a tutor before I wanted someone who could inspire her and increase her confidence. The tutoring sessions went extremely well from the start and Jas was able to build a positive relationship with Lana. He is an excellent communicator and was very engaging with not only Lana but the rest of the family. He tailored the sessions to Lana's academic needs but also took into her account her thoughts and feelings. This enabled them to work in partnership together which really helped build Lana's confidence. Jas was also very reliable and gave feedback that was positive and motivational.
I would highly recommend Jas to work with young people as he seems to understand their needs by listening and working with them in partnership. Working in this way lets the young person/child build a relationship that is based on mutual trust instead of an authoritarian relationship in which the young person/child feels that can't have any input."
- Nicky S. (parent)
"Jas is an amazing teacher and works exceedingly well with kids from any age group. He is very patient and lets children take their own time on things they find difficult and challenging. If children get stressed about stuff he will let them have a little break and talk about other things in life. Jas is very encouraging and motivates kids to try their hardest at every single subject in maths."
- Lana S. (student)
"Jas has been tutoring my son in all three science topics for preparation for Winchester Admission Examinations for Year 9. He is professional, courteous and reliable. He established an excellent rapport with my son and despite the intensity of preparation required, he managed to maintain my son's motivation throughout the 18 month period, which was not a easy thing to achieve. As the standard required to pass these exams was a very high (beyond ISEB Common Entrance), this was a very stressful and intense period for us all. Jas understood that there needed to a balance between work sessions and relaxation sessions - and he always made time to talk to my son about things other than just study topics which minimised stress and tension. My son appreciated Jas's guidance and advice and enjoyed the fact that Jas showed a keen interest in his hobbies. The result was that my son always looked forward to his sessions, even though they were hard work. He is also delighted to be off to Winchester College in September!"

Personal Description:
Reliable and qualified Maths Teacher with over 30 years of experience of tutoring individuals and groups. Since the pandemic, most of my tuitions have been online on the Zoom platform.
I care deeply about teaching and learning in general and the teaching of mathematics is a particular passion for me. I am a full time tutor with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and enhanced DBS. I have completed a BSc in Accounting, the ACCA qualification and worked as an accountant and then a company director before transitioning to teaching full time. I completed my PGCE course and MSc Education (Mathematics). I have 30+ years experience as a tutor and 10+ years as a teacher.
My first session is provided free of charge and I use this session to understand the needs of prospective pupils. At the end of the session, I have a frank and honest discussion with the pupil and/or their guardians. I use these conversations to listen to the concerns of the pupils and/or their guardians and present an outline of my assessment of the student's areas of strengths and weaknesses. I also suggest a course of action to help the pupil move forward.
Teaching Experience:
I have been providing tuition in mathematics for over 30 years and have taught as a secondary school Mathematics Teacher for over 12 years. I have experience teaching individual students as well as small groups and classes of up to 35 students. I have helped four year old pupils take their first steps in arithmetic and forty plus year old students finally understand how algebra works. In addition, I regularly provide tuition for GCSE and IGCSE Science, Statistics, Accounting and Business Studies.
I have helped students gain confidence in their own mathematical ability when they have been convinced by the academic system that they are incapable of doing well in the subject. I have also helped higher attaining students to challenge themselves and aspire to become even better. I helped multiple students achieve a grade 9 in Mathematics, Statistics and AQA Level 2 Further Maths and A and A* in A Level Mathematics.
I have also helped students prepare for the Selective Eligibility Tests (SET) for Sutton grammar schools and independent schools such as Croydon High, Dulwich College, JAG, King's College, Laurel's, St. Paul's, Sydenham High, Trinity, Westminster, Whitgift etc. Most of these students gained offers from the school of their choice. I have also helped students achieve high scores in US SAT and AP exams.
Tutoring Approach:
During the last three decades I have worked with numerous students and have read research studies from academics around the world on the subject of attainment in mathematics. My own experience is in keeping with all the studies I have read about this topic. The overwhelming majority of students can do well in mathematics provided they have the confidence, the techniques and willingness to work hard. Even after only six to eight weeks of tuition, all the students I have tutored have improved by at least one grade or one level.
I tell all prospective pupils there is no magic bullet or shortcut. To achieve success in mathematics a few things are key: understanding the concept well; understanding when and how to apply it in different situations; lots of practice in applying it in different scenarios and short, regular revision sessions. So my only pre-conditions before I agree to work with any student are: a positive attitude; a commitment to put in the time and effort required to bring about the improvement in their grades; and at least one ninety minute session every week.
It is important to me that students should enjoy mathematics and look forward to their sessions with me. To ensure this I use a variety of different resources to explain concepts to students and am a firm believer in using physical and computer based study tools and aides to complement the standard oral and written tools used to teach mathematics. I also believe in linking the mathematics that we study to the real world to increase students' engagement with the topic and their understanding of its relevance. I am very patient and empathetic to my student's needs and once they develop in confidence I encourage all my students to challenge themselves regularly. Depending on the amount of time available, I usually help students cement their mastery of the foundations of arithmetic and algebra before moving on to establish fluency in statistics, geometry and problem solving.

Personal Description:
Hello, I'm Ruben and I've just started my career as a science tutor. Having recently graduated from the university of Bristol (BSc in Biology with first class honours) I'm now tutoring KS4 and A-level Biology for both young and adult learners.
I have experience as a research intern for labs at the University of Bristol and the University of Newcastle, and I'm currently volunteering as a part-time researcher for the London-Based Social enterprise 'Mapping for change'. In September I will be starting a research masters in evolutionary biology at UCL & the Natural History Museum, London.
Teaching Experience:
I have no official science tutoring experience to date. I was however leading regular revision sessions and presentations for my peers during my undergraduate degree, and have been regularly child-minding for a number of families in the last year.
Tutoring Approach:
Above all I aim for a co-operative learning environment, and to create sessions which suit the learning style of the tutee. A session starts by devising learning aims which are both worthwhile and manageable. My lesson plans then combine two approaches. For new material, I introduce concepts though existing knowledge, examples and written exercises. I prepare high quality notes for each syllabus to be used for independent study. To consolidate previously taught material, I reiterate concepts using case studies, note taking and Q&A sessions. In preparation for exams, sessions will involve working through past paper questions & developing exam technique. My experiences as a researcher give me particular strengths in tutoring the practical elements of GCSE & A level biology syllabuses.

Personal Description:
Hi I'm Anabel, a 5th year medical student at UCL with a BSc in Women's Health (First class honours).
Every lesson of mine is 100% tailored to how YOU learn best. I have a thorough understanding of exam syllabus content and concepts, enabling me to explore subjects in great depth. My approach is designed not only to ensure a profound comprehension of topics but also to empower students with crucial examination strategies necessary for outstanding results and top-notch marks!
Teaching Experience:
I have over 4 years of tuition experience (GCSE sciences + A level Biology) and have received great feedback, from both students and parents. All students have achieved Grades 8-9 (GCSE) and A-A* (A-level).
Tutoring Approach:
In every session, I make sure to personalise the learning experience for each student. From teaching methods to the types of questions we tackle and how I evaluate your progress, it's all tailored to fit you perfectly. Whilst revising for my own exams, I tried many learning techniques and am now able to distinguish the most effective method for each of my students to use in their own revision. I've also become pretty good at explaining tricky concepts in a way that just clicks for you.
I like to start lessons by revisiting and reinforcing my student's current knowledge. From this starting point, we can further delve into the topic and work through the concept (as per the exam specification). To consolidate our learning we will do practice questions at the end and I provide weekly homework to go over in the next lesson.
In my online lessons, I recreate the classroom experience. Using a digital whiteboard, I write and explain concepts just like in a school setting. I ensure my lessons are interactive to ensure an engaging learning environment.
I look forward to working together towards your goals. Please feel free to message me any queries.

Personal Description:
Hi!
I am a second year Cambridge Medical Student with a history of achieving strong academic results, having secured a First Class in my most recent examinations.
Over the years I have been able to hone the skills necessary to perform well in exams, targeting my responses to what examiners are looking for and I am looking forward to being able to share these essential tools to my tutees.
I enjoy playing the piano and clarinet and I am an avid runner. I also enjoy a bit of rugby from time to time!
I look forward to working with you :)
Teaching Experience:
I have over 7 years of tutoring experience with excellent results. I have seen significant improvement in the confidence and ability of my tutees to perform well under exam pressures. Many of my students have gone on to achieve A's and A*s in their public examinations - a testament to the effectiveness of my tutoring approach.
Tutoring Approach:
I am strong believer that education should be personalised to each individual. As a result I start all my tutoring sessions with understanding what you want to gain from this. Do you want to go over difficult concepts? Or would you rather have an outline of the techniques used to get those 7/8/9/A/A*. Through this I am able to tailor our sessions to ensure that you are getting the most out of our time. I often set short tasks to be completed outside of the sessions so that we are able to identify weak points and document the progress that is being made. All resources from tutoring sessions are kept in a shared notebook so you have access to them whenever you need them.

Personal Description:
University of Cambridge Undergraduate. I achieved 9 A*`s at GCSE and A*A*A*A in my A-Levels.
As someone who has recently experienced what it is like doing the new style of GCSE`s and A-Levels, I understand and recognise what works best in order for students to excel beyond what they think might be their limits. Having achieved 9 A*`s at GCSE(6 "9`s" for GCSE and 3 "A*`s for IGCSE) and A*A*A*A at A-Level recently, I understand what approach works best in order for a student to excel and what the exam boards are looking for so that the pupil can achieve the best grades. I am able to teach a wide variety of exam boards.
My students feel that it is very easy to connect with how I teach and are not afraid to ask questions or approach my teaching in a fun and informal manner. I provide my students with resources that I myself used to achieve my grades, which allows them to truly know whether they have grasped a topic.
I am passionate about developing personalised learning experiences and effective tutoring techniques to increase academic achievement and encourage a love of learning.
Teaching Experience:
With over 3 years of extensive tutoring experience - having clocked in hundreds upon hundreds of hours - I have relished helping pupils sky-rocket their grades. During my time tutoring I have helped students of all ages - helping them with their 11+, GCSE's, A-Level's and University Admissions. Every single one of my students have achieved their desired grades that, in turn, have helped them get admission into their dream secondary school, dream sixth form, or dream university (with many students getting into Oxbridge and other Russell Group Universities). A significant percentage of those I tutor come to me for help in Economics, Maths, Politics and help in their University Applications (from help with their personal statements to Oxbridge support for their desired course).
Tutoring Approach:
In my tutoring sessions, I prioritise engaging and straightforward lessons that are academically stimulating without being overly complex. I foster an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions at any point, thereby maintaining a focused and confident learning space. Through active recall and spaced repetition techniques, I help students retain knowledge efficiently, while constantly assessing their understanding using a variety of resources including past papers and a personalised question bank.
I craft personalised learning plans, tailored to each student's abilities and the requirements of any exam board, filling knowledge gaps and building on existing understanding. Moreover, I keep parents informed about their child's progress and areas for development, fostering a collaborative approach to achieving academic success. My goal is to not only help students achieve their academic potential but to enjoy the learning process along the way.

Personal Description:
Hi! I'm Dudo-a cheerful and passionate medical student who's excited to help you succeed. I'm trilingual, fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. Having earned straight Grade 9s and 8s in my GCSEs and completed A-levels in the UK, I know what it takes to excel academically. I'm here to share the tips, strategies, and support that helped me thrive. I can't wait to meet you and support your learning journey!
Teaching Experience:
While I may not have extensive formal teaching experience, I bring a wealth of practical knowledge and proven strategies for tackling exams and tests-gained through my own academic journey. I've also spent a few months tutoring Year 7 students in mathematics, which gave me valuable insight into how to support learners effectively.
Tutoring Approach:
Want to achieve Grade 9? Consistent practice with past papers-it's that simple. Having earned straight 9s and 8s in my GCSE subjects, I understand how crucial it is to master not just the content, but the exam technique and strategy that help you "play the game" effectively.
My lesson style includes:
1. Initial group chat with students and parents: understand goals, expectations, and identify strengths and areas for improvement.
2. Pre-lesson preparation: I ask students to send me their school materials a week in advance so I can tailor the session to match their curriculum-ensuring lessons feel smooth and never overwhelming.
3. Lesson time!
4. Homework assignments: reinforce what we've covered.
5. Progress updates: I regularly share a summary of what we've covered in the group chat to keep everyone informed.

Testimonial Highlights
"Since Ume has been tutoring my daughter for Year 11 GCSE Maths, her grade improved from U to B in her Year 11 mocks and grade A in her final GCSE exam."
"My daughter is a Year 10 GCSE student whose grades have improved significantly since working with Ume. She is currently achieving grades 7, 8 and 9."
"She has already exceeded expectations and is working at A* targets."
"Our daughter had been home educated since Year 8 and had received tuition in several subjects, yet English and Maths remained confusing as she approached her GCSEs. Ume's diagnostic assessment identified the missing foundations and why previous support had not worked. She then taught the complete GCSE English and Maths curricula in a structured sequence, building our daughter's independence and confidence under exam conditions.
Within a year, her final GCSE results were Grade 9s in Maths and English Language and Grade 8s in English Literature and Further Maths. She received offers from every college she applied to, including MPW London, and secured her first choice, Ashbourne College London.
Ume now tutors her in A-level Biology and Chemistry and she is consistently achieving A* grades in class tests. These results gave us complete confidence to ask Ume to prepare our son for the 13+ admissions assessments and interviews for St Paul's School and Eton College."

Memorised content fades. Usable understanding transfers beyond the classroom.
My teaching is inclusive by design and evidence-led. I train cross-disciplinary STEM thinking informed by Cognitive Neuroscience and Educational Psychology to build synoptic fluency, so students meet top-band descriptors and develop lasting academic confidence.
Over 5 years and thousands of 1:1 lessons, I have supported learners from KS2 SATs and KS3 through to GCSE combined and triple Science, Maths, English, and onwards to A-level Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Psychology.
My experience includes supporting boarding, school-based, and home-educated learners, as well as international students from India, the UAE, Canada, and Russia studying the British curriculum, alongside families relocating to the UK. This has sharpened my highly structured approach that secures smooth academic transition and clear alignment with exam expectations.
Across multiple cohorts, my students have achieved consistently strong outcomes, including a 100% pass rate and 99% grades at 7 to 9. Documented grade gains include U to 7 and 4 to 9, alongside moving into higher sets and sustaining top-set placement.
My academic training also shapes how I teach top-band writing and support advanced STEM research projects, dissertations and theses. Across my BSc (Hons) and MSc, I achieved First-Class grades in 100% of submitted coursework, spanning lab reports, Biomedical Science and Neuroscience dissertations, research posters, graded assignments, presentations and critical appraisal. This now informs my teaching of high-level academic writing for EPQ, NEA, Science, History, Geography, English Literature and Language.
Alongside a safeguarding-first professional standard, my teaching is grounded in specialist academic expertise from an MSc in Neuroscience at King's College London, a First-Class IBMS-accredited BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science, and the IBMS President's Prize for academic excellence.
I also hold an Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, alongside certified Myelin Academia tutoring qualification, The Tutors' Association (TTA) and Qualified Tutor member. My tutoring qualification is underpinned by research in Psychology, Educational Theory, and effective Pedagogical Practice and tailored support for different learner needs.

Teaching Experience:
Beyond 1:1 Tutoring: Leadership, Safeguarding and Structured Delivery
My teaching is shaped by a disciplined ability to abstract complexity, turning demanding concepts and methods into clear, usable thinking. That expertise has been refined through extensive private tutoring, alongside broader experience in academic leadership, safeguarding-aligned education, group teaching, and scholarly communication. Together, these layers strengthen the high-structure practice I bring to learners across ages, settings, and levels of need, informed by Neuroscience and shaped by my teaching experience.
• Educational Leadership: Selected as a Biomedical Science Cohort Representative, I contributed to programme board discussions by presenting student insight clearly and helping shape quality-focused improvements to the learning experience.
• Academic Communication & Pedagogy: At King's College London, I supported year-round access to MSc Neuroscience lecture materials and co-delivered a postgraduate Statistics and data analysis workshop, turning complex theory into clear, usable steps.
• Cross-Age Teaching Expertise: From 5+ years in primary literacy support for ages 3-12, to 4+ years in GCSE-level programme tutoring through the Access Project and the National Tutoring Programme, and 3+ years in community education for adult learners. I have refined my teaching expertise across diverse settings, delivering 1:1 and group teaching through clear differentiation, embedded routines, and a safeguarding-first standard.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
From Curriculum to Capability: I Build Thinking That Transfers
I tutor full-time and use a teaching approach grounded in Cognitive Neuroscience to strengthen how students learn, retain knowledge, and adapt their thinking. My fascination with how the body works and how the brain responds to structured support shapes the way I teach students to think, question, and connect ideas across topics, subjects, and real-world contexts. With the right structure, anxiety reduces, competence strengthens, and confidence follows.
The difference is simple: memorised content fades, but usable understanding lasts. Through structured practice, precise feedback, and mastery cycles, I help students turn curriculum knowledge into strong reasoning, resilient problem-solving, and high-level performance beyond exams.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Specialist Expertise Across the Full Attainment Range
Drawing on over 5 years of programme-led and community education alongside private tutoring, I have supported hundreds of students across a wide range of needs and attainment levels, including high attainers, EAL learners, and students with SEMH and SEND such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia, autism, ADHD, anxiety.
Many of my students begin with the same frustration: "I keep losing marks even when I know the topic." Whether they are preparing for 11+, GCSE or A-level, I use an exam-board-aligned framework with examiner insight to convert complex understanding into clear, high-scoring responses under timed conditions.
To turn subject knowledge into confident exam execution, I created the Thinking That Transfers Framework, my evidence-shaped system of weekly mastery cycles, precise gap analysis, and targeted re-testing. It pinpoints the gap between what a student understands and what they can execute under exam conditions, then closes it through focused weekly priorities. I teach the "how" as well as the "what", so students develop transferable study habits and perform with confidence beyond our sessions.
This highly structured approach has proved especially effective for GCSE students balancing demanding commitments in film, television, the West End, elite dance, football, and international tennis. Working across locations and time zones has refined my high-impact system that secures curriculum coverage, strengthens exam mastery, and aligns homework and practice with intensive training demands and travel commitments.
The same approach has also shaped my work through the Access Project and the National Tutoring Programme, where I have specialised in accelerating the progress of high-potential students from diverse backgrounds. Alongside stronger grades, parents report positive feedback from class teachers, improved participation in class, stronger behaviour for learning, and consistent focus and effort. Students also develop the confidence to aim for competitive academic pathways, including Russell Group and Oxbridge routes.
That longer-term impact is reflected in progression choices. My students go on to study Biology, Chemistry or Physics at A-levels at sixth form, progressing into Biosciences, Biomedical Engineering, Medicine or Dentistry at their first-choice universities, including University College London, Imperial College London and the University of Oxford.
My specialist preparation for UK Maths Trust (UKMT), including JMC, IMC and SMC, has led to Bronze, Silver and 'Top Gold' awards, including 2026 IMC Silver and the Andrew Jobbings Senior Kangaroo award. A Year 11 physics enthusiast also achieved Silver in the British Physics Olympiad (BPhO) Challenge. A Bronze CREST Award for a GCSE STEM project at a top 10 London academy, alongside successful participation in the UK Linguistic Olympiad (UKLO) at Advanced Level in 2026. Beyond competition distinctions, my guidance also supported completion of the Duke of Edinburgh Skills section, including the book reading challenge. If you are aiming for that level of achievement, please send me a message.

Selective Entry & Scholarship Preparation
I prepare students for competitive 7+ to 11+ and 13+ entry, including scholarship pathways and the ISEB Common Pre-Tests. Bringing together personal experience within the Russell Group academic system, alongside expertise in selective entry and scholarship preparation, I provide strategic support across the full process. This includes tailored reading lists, personal statement guidance, mock interviews, and interview coaching, helping students present themselves with confidence and intellectual depth.
For English (incl. creative writing), Maths, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning, my strategically structured support is designed with the end goal in mind: to build accuracy, develop efficient speed, and strengthen exam performance. I work across Sutton, GL, CSSE, CEM, Kingston, SET, and school-specific assessment formats for both day and boarding school entry.
I have supported families through competitive admissions to leading schools including King's College School Wimbledon, Whitgift, Newstead Wood, Tiffin, Graveney, Latymer, and other highly selective independent and grammar schools.

From Knowledge to Marks: Transferable Exam Thinking Across Subjects
Recognised for academic excellence and backed by over five years of experience supporting hundreds of students, I have trained them to develop the cross-disciplinary thinking that turns knowledge into repeatable exam success. Students often know more than their scripts show. The real challenge is training them to apply, analyse, and communicate that understanding, while refining the writing skills that convert it into marks.
In Psychology and other essay-based subjects (incl. History), I strengthen the transition from knowledge to application and evaluation, enabling students to critique evidence with examiner-level depth. Most marks are lost in Geography and data-rich subjects, when students can't execute on graphs and figures, so I teach consistent structures for describing trends, analysing processes, interpreting implications, and evaluating reliability, so graphs and figures become scoring opportunities rather than weak points.
The transfer-based strategies extend into Science and Maths. In Science, I specialise in practical, investigative, and data-response questions, teaching students to interpret experimental design and construct answers that boost grades. The cross-topic approach translates directly into Maths, connecting algebra, number, and geometry in a clear show / prove sequence, securing method marks through reasoning rather than guesswork.
That same discipline carries into English Language and Literature, which cannot be mastered through rote instruction alone, but through targeted practice and feedback. Strong reading comes before strong writing, so I guide students through detailed, line-by-line analysis of set poems, plays, and novels to deepen understanding, refine interpretation, and strengthen written response. In Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, for example, I take students through the most important moments in the text, then show them how to trace the deeper patterns, themes, and writer's methods that shape the novel.
I then coach each student by turning their written drafts into repeatable top-band blueprints aligned to their thinking style. We target strengths, close next-step gaps, and train students to produce argument-led responses with a clear thesis, embedded evidence, and precise analysis of method and effect. The goal is not just stronger writing in one essay, but independent control of high-quality responses under time pressure to maximise marks.

Tutoring Approach:
Across 20,000+ hours of learning design, academic research and teaching in diverse educational settings, I have refined a specialist teaching framework that is ambitious, achievable, and built to secure sustained progress towards the highest grades. Having helped GCSE students progress from below a D to an A* and A-level students in securing A grades, I bring examiner-focused understanding of what top performance demands.
My students benefit from tailored and expertly refined resources not publicly available, including specialist study packs and predicted papers designed to raise performance in both mocks and final exams. Developed through extensive teaching practice, my resources give students a distinct academic advantage and form part of the specialist teaching framework that has helped students improve by up to 8 or 9 grades. Just as importantly, my teaching instils self-motivation and intellectual discipline, equipping students to think independently and succeed far beyond their exams.
Thinking That Transfers Framework
My adaptive and inclusive teaching approach uses targeted scaffolding to remove barriers for schooled, homeschooled, EAL, and SEMH or SEND learners without lowering expectations. The goal is to develop independent, synoptic and exam-ready thinking. Each student's plan is tailored to their learning profile and guided by ongoing assessment aligned to the exam board specification. To keep the Thinking That Transfers Framework aligned with current educational evidence, I continually draw on research in Cognitive Neuroscience, Educational Psychology, and Behavioural Science, particularly in memory, metacognition, and effective teacher-student interaction.
• Question-Level Diagnosis: A precise diagnostic that identifies exactly why marks are being lost, from knowledge and application gaps to exam technique weaknesses, misconceptions, and reasoning breakdowns, so we can target the highest-impact improvements first.
• Weekly Progress: Turns those findings into specification-aligned weekly mastery checkpoints, so progress stays trackable and consistent.
• Concept Mastery: Strengthens long-term recall and understanding using evidence-led routines and explicit modelling of concepts. In Science, this includes lab practical thinking: variables, method, data handling, and evaluation.
• Written Consolidation: Students write notes in their own words during and between lessons, so learning is actively processed. This strengthens understanding, sharpens critical thinking, and reveals uncertainty early, before misconceptions become embedded. It also integrates exam technique from an early stage, acclimatising students to harder questions through meticulously sequenced practice, so they build confidence without the overwhelm of revising an entire textbook at once.
• Verbal Recall: Students explain previously taught material aloud, often several weeks after initial teaching, so learning is actively reconstructed. This strengthens retrieval, deepens conceptual understanding, reveals gaps in knowledge, and consolidates learning into long-term memory and sharpens communication. Over time, it develops the disciplined thinking, intellectual independence, and articulate reasoning that support high-level success both in exam and outside the classroom.
• Exam Techniques: Understanding is translated into marks through structured exam practice, worked examples, assignment completion, module assessment prep, quizzes, actionable feedback, and guided re-attempts until responses reach mark scheme standard. This develops the speed, accuracy, and exam judgement needed to secure marks consistently, particularly on high-level and end-of-exam questions where many students fall short.
• Independent Study: Students follow a concise weekly plan and a simple self-check routine, so independent work stays efficient and outcome driven.
The framework remains consistent, while pacing, sequencing, and practice design are continually refined through diagnostic judgement as each student progresses. This strengthens performance and prepares students more effectively for the final phase of exam preparation.

The Learning Experience
By combining expert teaching with advanced technology, I deliver every lesson through a professional setup, including an HD webcam, noise-cancelling microphone, and full Fibre Gigafast broadband, ensuring a focused, efficient learning environment throughout. From first enquiry to first lesson, I provide a smooth, efficient onboarding process, with simple payment and scheduling.
Lessons take place face-to-face via Zoom using a shared digital whiteboard. With a professional graphics tablet, I turn complex ideas into clear, accessible explanations, whether breaking down scientific processes, modelling mathematical working step by step, or constructing diagrams in real time. This allows students to follow the logic of each concept.
My online classroom is highly interactive and visually structured. Through PowerPoint presentations, annotated examples, and detailed explanations, students see abstract content unfold in real time, making it easier to connect ideas across topics, retain key knowledge, and apply it with confidence.
The digital setting allows for immediate, personalised feedback. We can edit written responses together, correct mistakes, and analyse work line by line to maximise progress in every lesson, delivering a level of targeted feedback that is difficult to achieve in a traditional classroom.
