My own work is based on observations of mans' intervention in the landscape. I work in oils, water colour, digital photography and print.

I have extensive experience as a senior regional moderator for GCSE examinations in art and design with a leading examinations board, being responsible for supervising the work of a team of visiting moderators in the south east of England, and for resolving disputes with schools. I do voluntary work for the National Trust, giving occasional talks to schools on symbolism in Tudor portraits.

Having started my career as a graphic designer I had, by necessity, to broaden my experience and skills into other two and three-dimensional media in order to become a successful teacher. My departments had outstanding results at GCSE and A-level, and many of my students went on to study at many of the principal art institutions, including Central St Martins, Chelsea, Glasgow, Edinburgh.
Teaching is about finding the unique personality of the individual and finding ways to encourage its expression. I have taught in the UK for over 10 years and have extensive experience in teaching Art at A-level and at GCSE. I see myself as a 2D specialist as I can do a number of different techniques and have an experimental approach to teaching Art. Every project is unique and I am constantly learning. I will be able to do printmaking with students, painting, textiles, some Adobe photoshop work and basic construction work. I would work with the student to find out exactly what their special skill is in Art. Students will need to find a topic that inspires them and do some visual research on this and I would then help the students by teaching them a range of different techniques, learning how to draw in a number of media from pencil, chalk, oil pastel, pen and ink, biro and graphite and then teach them how to paint in gouache, acrylic, watercolour and use a mixed media approach. Textiles is also a medium I would offer students and basic construction techniques. Adobe photoshop skills is also important in developing photographic images as part of the development. Developing different skills until the student finds out what they particularly enjoy working with and helping the student to explore different media to extend their ideas and lead the students up to developing a final piece. The students would then have a whole project from beginning to end which will help with portfolio development.

I have been teaching art for nearly 20 years. I teach drawing, painting and sculpture. I also teach papier-mâché technique to make masks and puppets.

I am a professional Theatre Stage and Costume Designer (M.F.A. graduated in 2004), and I have worked in many theatre productions in UK and abroad, as a stage, set and costume designer as well as a puppet maker. My latest theatre design works (in 2018) are with Xameleon Theatre Productions in London: "The Little Prince" (after Saint-Exupéry`s tale), "Heart of a Dog" (Mikhail Bulgakov) - in both productions I made stage, props and costume design.

For the last eight years I have also worked as a sculptor. I work in clay and my sculptors have been displayed in several exhibitions in London: in Royal Society of British Artists, in The Society Women Artists, in Cork Street Open Exhibition, in Mall Galleries and others.

I have an individual approach to pupils. Art is first of all based on creativity and inspiration. Each one has his or her own abilities, talents and skills, and what is important is that in the process of learning, the desire to create will not be destroyed, but on the contrary: will grow. I genuinely enjoy working together with the students. When I conducted a stone carving workshop at NIE( National Institute of Education) in Singapore, where I taught students how to transfer 2D ideas to 3D but carving directly onto limestone, it can be an upheaval task for students but to scaffold them to visualise their plan, see through the process from beginning to the end, problem-solving, tweaking, translating the 2D idea into 3D effectively, seeing them succeed and execute, gave me the feeling of satisfaction and joy. I realise then this is what I want to do, to teach. It was very different from an artist satisfaction.

My approach to tutoring is to work with the students regarding whatever project they may be working on. In some cases I write a project for them. I speak online face to face to each student once a week and encourage them to upload work in-between our meetings for advice and comment. Hi! My name is Claudia, I'm a 26 year old artist, illustrator, and mum of one.

I work part time in a secondary school/sixth form as an art technician and a large part of my role is assisting our wonderful students with their projects. I often get allocated 1:1 time with students that are having a harder time than others in some way, and I find this element of the job particularly rewarding.
Due to the nature of my work, I have a good understanding of the current curriculum, as well as the GCSE and A-Level programs.
