I am a recently retired teacher with over 30 years combined experience in further education, independent and maintained secondary schools. I am now based in a beautiful part of Norfolk, where I paint, give private tuition and run an art club.
My own work is based on observations of mans' intervention in the landscape. I work in oils, water colour, digital photography and print.

Throughout his practice there is a sense of an acceptance of failure or disappointment as important parts of the human condition. He makes light with big issues and is, in turn, haunting and funny. His humorous sculpture typically conveys a sense of the accidental, eternally on the brink of failure or collapse. Recent DIY apocalypses, created from expanding builders' foam, seem to have an unruly, malevolent life of their own and explore the processes of invasion and infection. While his films and writing play with ideas of chance, quotidian struggles, the loss of control and responsibility.

I have taught in the UK for over 10 years and have extensive experience in teaching Art at A-level and at GCSE. I see myself as a 2D specialist as I can do a number of different techniques and have an experimental approach to teaching Art. Every project is unique and I am constantly learning. My favourite thing about teaching is watching someone go from being unsure about what to do or how to approach their work to seeing them bubbling with excitement and eager to get started to see what will happen next.

We look at your themes together, I can then refer you to all the relevant artists that will be helpful for you, discuss what they have done and how this context can inform your work. From there we will devise your artistic experiments that will form the basis of your portfolio.
As we discuss these experiments together I will help you to ask the right questions so you can critically evaluate your work and refine it into finished pieces.
These steps will cover everything you need for your A level art, getting into art school or whilst on your degree.
