I have completed my PhD in Creative and Critical Writing at UEA. I also have an MA (Distinction) in Creative Writing from Royal Holloway, and a First Class Honours Degree in English Literature. I also have a good Fine Art degree from Chelsea College of Art and Design. I have been a private tutor for twenty years, and have taught many children in that time.

A graduate from Amiens University with a BA in English Literature & Civilization, I also studied Fashion Design & Illustration in the international Paris American Academy.

I trained and worked in London for several years, before moving to N.Ireland.
In search of calm and beauty, we now live near peaceful meadows, a mere 5 minutes drive from Banbridge, a 20 minute drive from Newry and 40 minutes from Belfast.

As a youngster I always enjoyed art and sold my first paintings in my early teens. I then trained and studied the history of art at Maidstone College of Art and at The University of Wales.

After a career in graphic design & communications I re-started my career as an artist in 2014. I have been a member of various art groups for several years and I have been fortunate to win awards at local art exhibitions.

I paint landscapes and figurative subjects in a suggestive and vibrant style, and draw inspiration from mood and atmosphere in the world around me. I exhibit and sell locally and my work is gaining in popularity in local galleries. I also run workshops.

I am inspired by my contemporaries who push the boundaries of their respective media. I am also often reminded of my early successes and the artists who inspired me as a student. My goals are to find new surprises by combining persistence with experimentation and 'happy accident'.

Teaching Experience:
I have been running weekly adult acrylic painting mini-workshops since February 2022. These have proved popular with beginners and experienced painters alike. I have also given one-to-one private tuition to several adult students.

Tutoring Approach:
My emphasis is on discovering and learning and breaking down barriers in a relaxed and friendly environment. Painting should be fun, and limitation of technical skill should not be a barrier to expression. I encourage experimentation and offer guidance. I am not a 'paint like me' tutor, but rather, I want to help you recognise 'you' in your work. I have many years experience in many varied arenas, from fine art, graphics, photographic and digital art. I have been drawing and painting professionally for 14 years. Most of the time I am creating my paintings with pastels and throughout my carrier as an artist, I learned quite a lot about this medium and how to use it to achieve the desired results. I also work with oils. But my private lessons will be concentrated on creating pastel artworks.
I am specializing in pet portraits but I also have done quite a lot of people's portraits and landscapes.

I have a University degree in teaching and in the past I had a good experience in private tutoring on general subjects. Throughout my art carrier, I had private art classes occasionally but I didn't have much time to take it to the bigger scale.
