Hello! I am a recently graduated Illustrator with a first class honours from Grays School Of Art, with experience of working both freelance and with companies at a professional level. Ive always been really passionate and enthusiastic about art with a focus on work that tells a story, which is what drew me towards studying illustration. Ive worked with a range of ages right the way through from early high school to portfolio preparation and being a graduate myself i understand what is required for university level portfolios as well as high school examination boards. A friendly and relaxed approach looking to ensure that you have an understanding of fundamentals and help to create a portfolio or to complete course/school work to a standard that is both professional but also reflects your interests and gives you a folio of work you're really happy with. While the fundamentals are obviously important im far more interested in helping to cultivate interest and enthusiasm rather than tutoring in a very dry archaic manner. For this reason as well as traditional mediums i also cover using digital ones such as the adobe suite.

ART: I like to find out as much as I can about my students before beginning to teach them. I like to meet them and see their portfolios. A true renaissance man, Alex makes: mini epic films, video installations, games, photographs, sculpture, blogs and books. Using readily available materials and software the work often has a feeling of improvisation, an initial throwaway idea made visible.

Throughout his practice there is a sense of an acceptance of failure or disappointment as important parts of the human condition. He makes light with big issues and is, in turn, haunting and funny. His humorous sculpture typically conveys a sense of the accidental, eternally on the brink of failure or collapse. Recent DIY apocalypses, created from expanding builders' foam, seem to have an unruly, malevolent life of their own and explore the processes of invasion and infection. While his films and writing play with ideas of chance, quotidian struggles, the loss of control and responsibility.

I am passionate about creativity and am an artist and ceramicist, I also work freelance as a printmaker's assistant so I have a wide range of skills. I have worked for many years as an art educator, I am an A level moderator for an exam board which allows me to see work from around the country and enhances my professional development. I have built up 7 years experience teaching from secondary school to University Level.

I work as an Associate Lecturer on the BA Painting Programme at Camberwell College of Arts (University of the Arts London), as a mentor on the Turps Painting Programme and was invited to be a Visiting Artist at Goldsmiths for 2023, and again for 2024. I am also a Dissertation Supervisor for Final Year students at Camberwell on their BA Programme. My specialism is Art History, however I have extensive knowledge of a wide variety of subjects and my tutees have all immensely improved their grades (often by multiple grade bands) and have been very happy with their results.

I also teach writing for a wide variety of audiences. I have experience writing reviews of exhibitions for Mousse magazine and an in conversation series with key artistic figures, including Turner Prize winner Mark Leckey, Markus Lüpertz, Leidy Churchman and Chris Martin. I am an RCA MA Painting graduate, and I have a BA(Hons) degree in Fine Art from Westminster University, and a Foundation diploma in Art & Design from the University for the Creative Arts. I am a practicing artist based in London, specializing in painting, and I have been showing my work nationally and internationally. My recent solo show was at Class Reiss London, and I also had a solo presentation at Art Athina.
