Personal Description:
As a graduate of The Musashino Academy of Music in Japan, I have extensive experience in performing as a concert pianist in Japan and accompanist for Violinist and Vocalist for their concerts.
I accompanied on a Japanese Canzone CD which was released in 2005 and I used to make music for TV commercials. I'm not only limited to classical music, I also have experience and understanding of many types of composition, from ethnic forms right through to modern, contemporary, techno and electro. I am well traveled and have an understanding of many different cultures.
I am an outgoing, fun person and although I think this shows through to pupils, my lessons are strict and I prefer only to take on serious students who are determined to achieve their goals.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching for 13 years in Japan, 1 year in the USA and 20 years in the UK. I can train you to all levels, for all English or Japanese piano grade exams or for entrance to music schools, GCSE / A level Music, universities and all levels above.
Tutoring Approach:
Students who want to improve your skills & pass exams, I am confident that you will see improvement from the very first lesson.
I feel that music is not just about learning the notes & playing them in the right order - like people, every piece has it's own character, emotion & depth. I think it is just as important to get the student to recognise & express this, as it is for them to learn the correct technique.

Personal Description:
I am a fully-qualified professional teacher with more than 30 years of teaching and tutoring experience, both in the UK and abroad. I regard myself as a friendly and approachable tutor, as well as honest and conscientious, and I pride myself on being able to communicate with students of all ages, from pre-teen to pensioner.
I am the father of two boys, and we live in the Sutton area. My wife and I successfully tutored our sons for Sutton's grammar schools (WCGS), and they have since both graduated from top Russell Group universities. My hobbies are limited to reading these days, and I am particularly fond of English Literature. Dickens and Hardy are two of my favourites, but I am also keen on modern and less serious writers, such as Tom Sharpe and the two Rankins - Robert and Ian.
Teaching Experience:
After obtaining my first degree in Spanish with Politics and Economics, I started teaching abroad; first in Spain, then in Turkey, and later in Central Asia and the Middle East. Since retraining as a teacher of English, I have taught for more than 15 years in the UK and almost 15 years abroad, where I was Head of Department at an Institute of Higher Education for three years.
Most recently I have taught English at an independent school in Sutton, and previous to that I taught Academic Writing for East Anglia University for several years. Nowadays my tutoring is split 50:50 between English for the 11+ and Common Entrance (13+) exams, and English, Spanish, Economics and Politics & Government for the GCSE and A-level exams (all boards).
11+ and 13+ (Common Entrance)
I am very happy to report that all but one of my twelve Eleven Plus tutees passed the SET (Selective Eligibility Test) for Sutton's grammar schools last September. Of these, 100% of them passed the second stage exam and obtained their first choice of grammar or independent school. I use a selection of published materials and those of my own creation, and insist on a high standard of weekly homework in reading, writing and language knowledge. For 11+ pupils I start tutoring in Year 4 or 5, whereas 13+ pupils begin in Year 7 or 8.
GCSE and A-level
I am equally happy to report that all of my most recent GCSE and A-level students have passed well, with top grades from B to A* (A-level) and 6-9 (GCSE). The majority of those have gone on to their first choice of further and higher education institutes, and in most cases this has been achieved by my insisting on regular homework done to a high standard. For GCSE pupils I prefer to start tutoring at some time in Year 10, whereas A-level students typically begin around Year 12.
I also provide individual tutoring in ESSAY WRITING and STUDY SKILLS, as my experience has taught me that many students at GCSE, A-level and undergraduate level face real problems in these areas. By working together on your essays, substantial improvements can be made in style, organisation, argument, presentation, and much more. This way, I can teach you how produce more effective and mature essays, and thus help you to obtain better grades and increase your confidence in producing written work.
Tutoring Approach:
With every tutee I carry out an initial assessment of his/her needs and abilities, and my teaching begins from there. Typically I work on improving their weaknesses and consolidating their strengths, and this essentially involves them producing high-quality homework on a regular basis. I use both established published materials and those that I have created myself over the years. This approach appears to be successful, and I can provide references.
Over the past twelve years I have successfully tutored students for the following schools and universities:
Schools: Sutton Grammar, Wilsons, Wallington County, Wallington High, Nonsuch, Whitgift, Trinity, Wimbledon High, Kings School, City of London, Reigate Grammar, Caterham School, St John's, Westminster, Epsom College, Ewell Castle, and many others.
Universities: Manchester, Warwick, City, East Anglia, St Martins, Lincoln, Kings, LSE, UCL, Nottingham, Reading, Birmingham, Bournemouth, and several others.
Please note that my fees are very affordable, bearing in mind that I travel to your house and offer a personalised tutoring programme.
I currently charge between £45 and £50 per hour, depending on subject and level.
NB: Any tutoring that involves more than 6 miles travel (round trip) usually incurs a small extra charge.
If you are looking for a fully-qualified, highly-experienced and versatile tutor, you need look no further. Here are a few messages from some of my most recent successful tutees:
Hello Jeff, I just got my IELTS results and I FINALLY passed it! Listening 8, Reading 7.5, Writing 7, Speaking 7.5 and it's 7.5 overall. I would like to THANK you sooooo MUCH for your help and all advice you have given me! It would not be possible otherwise. (Vanja)
Sam got into Wilsons and we are pretty sure that his English performance carried him through. Sam said we ought to say 'thanks' to you as you made a massive difference to his standard of English in a very short period of time. Not sure how, but you made something click in his brain where his school teachers had failed! (Cathy)
Hi Jeff, hope you are well. I am extremely delighted to tell you that Rick has a place at Westminster, and we are going ahead with that. He has also had offers from HABS, KCS and RGS Guildford. Thank you so much for all your support. (Animesh)
Hi Jeff, just to let you know that Dillon got a place at Sutton Grammar on Monday. He also received places at Whitgift, Trinity and Epsom. We have decided to accept Sutton Grammar, and thank you for all your help and time.
Thanks - Paulomi and Dillon.
Dear Jeff! Thanks you so much for tutoring me last year. You have helped my English greatly and without your advice and guidance I would have had a nervous breakdown when I was given the task of an essay. You taught me about causal connectives, signpost words, paragraph structure and much more vital strategies of writing an amazing essay.
Finally, I am happy that I got a place at Wilsons and know I would have failed the English language test without what you taught me. I am very grateful that you gave up your time to help me pass.
Yours Sincerely, Makar
Hi Jeff, I hope you're well. I just wanted to let you know that Andriy got offered a place at Whitgift and we have accepted it. Thank you very much for helping and recommending this great school to us. Andriy is really excited about it and cannot wait to start.
(Oksana)
Dear Jeff, sorry for the delayed reply as we are in India. Rishi has done well, has received English Language 9 and English Literature 7, and scored 8 in six other subjects. He could achieve good results only because of your support. Thanking you.
(Chandra)
Hi Jeff, I am pleased to inform you that Mahati cleared the 2nd round. Her cut-off score is 354. We hope she gets into either of the two schools. Thanks a lot for your support throughout.
(Sassi)
Hi Jeff, Tamana's results have come in for the Sutton Stage 2 test. She has passed with a relatively good score of 315, and based on last year's stats, she should get in comfortably to Nonsuch or Wallington. Thanks for all your lessons that significantly helped her in the preparations.
(Vedant)
Hi Jeff, hope you're doing good. We have got the exam outcome, and Samrudha is able to apply for Nonsuch. Her score is 309, and the highest total score is 389. Secondly she has cleared Tiffin's Stage 1 test and has been invited for Stage 2 on November 11, and we would like to take your help whenever possible.
(Kirthi)
Hi Jeff, I just wanted to let you know that Ed passed the entrance exams for all three schools. Thank you so much for all your support! (Emma)
Hello Jeff, I hope you are well. Vivaan passed the exams for Wilson's, Wallington and Sutton. He also got through Tiffins Stage 1. Thanks very much for your help and support! His English improved massively under your guidance.
Kind regards
Jyothi

Personal Description:
I am versatile, creative and ambitious. I believe nothing is impossible. I have a passion for teaching and learning. I have been brought up in an environment where education was the most important priority in life.
Learners needs are the core of the teaching and learning environment, I have a pleasant personality and loads of patience to support students in learning and understanding their individual learning styles.
For me teaching is filling the learning gap between what the student's knowledge to what is required in terms of the specification and examination and assessment requirements of the course. I am familiar with all teaching boards to name a few include; Edexcel, AQA, OCR, Welsh and university examinations too.
Teaching Experience:
I have over 12 years of teaching in UK and about 10 years of teaching abroad. I have taught a variety of subjects including: General Science, English, Business Studies, Economics, Marketing, International Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Finance, Managerial Finance, Human Resource Management, Research Methodology, Business and Economics, Business management and many more
With regards to teaching levels; I have taught GCSE, AS/A level, Undergraduate and Graduate level as well Primary and Secondary levels too.
Currently teaching in a college in London, teaching Business Studies and Economics to A level students.
I am flexible in my teaching approach and have helped students in writing their personal statement, checking assignments, help with research dissertations, proposals etc.
Please feel free to contact me any time to discuss these.
Tutoring Approach:
Teaching is my passion. I have a student-centered approach to teaching and believe in tailoring the teaching style to the needs of the student.
I have a proven track record of students showing great success in their exams over the years I have been teaching with 75% achieving grades A and B, and the rest as Cs. I work hard and support students in achieving their best potential.
I have over 21 years of teaching and have taught in a number of positions including a private tutor, as a lecturer in a college and as a teacher in a high school.
You can be sure you have made the right choice.

Personal Description:
An experienced information technology consultant working in the enterprise arena, I have a passion for teaching.
I have previous teaching experience not only on a one-to-one basis but also in the classroom environment.
Having attended private primary and secondary schools with exceptional teaching standards throughout, I have gained a lot of valuable experience and understanding in how educators can take their students the extra mile to ensure that not only do they get the best grades but also to ensure that students get the best from their education in order to assist them later in life, whether that be at university or in their careers.
Teaching Experience:
Having taught in both classroom and one-on-one based environments, I have a broad range of skills and expertise when it comes to actually lay out the knowledge. Private tutoring has been something I have always done on the side and having taught in such environments for over four years, I have significant experience in teaching and learning styles which can assist students on a multitude of levels.
I have taught students from secondary school to university level, the main subjects taught being Maths, English, Sciences, Law, Business Studies and Information Technology.
University Level can also be catered for, subjects such as Law, Business Studies and IT/Computing.
Tutoring Approach:
I like to give students a relaxed environment in which they can learn and enjoy. Furthermore, I believe working outside of lessons is also a key part to learning and developing one's knowledge hence my use of short yet effective homework exercises which not only prepare students for the next session but also help reinforce what they have already learnt. Using these techniques, I am able to better assist the student(s) on where they may need some more assistance. Of course, every student is different and learning techniques always need to be worked upon in order to ensure that students get the most out of their sessions with me.

Personal Description:
Hello! I'm Garrie, a tutor for Maths/Physics/Engineering/Chemistry/Computing at university and secondary school level, and one of the top-rated tutors in Scotland.
I am a full-time tutor, with a background in academic teaching and research, having previously held posts as Research Assistant / Teacher at the University of Glasgow's School of Engineering.
I graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2011 with a first class B.Eng. (Hons) in Aeronautical Engineering, finishing at the top of my class. I also previously conducted postgraduate research and teaching duties at the University of Strathclyde.
I am deeply passionate about my subject and the fields which underpin it. I enjoy sharing that passion with others, and helping them to comprehend these subjects in a way that is hopefully inspiring and interesting to them.
Teaching Experience:
Having tutored for over 15 years, I've helped 500+ students improve their grades and achieve the exam results they were hoping for.
I've helped students from across the globe, including high school students sitting Scottish SQA qualifications (Nat 5, Higher, Advanced Higher, HNC and HND, etc), AS/A levels from various UK exam boards (AQA, OCR, Pearson/Edexcel and WJEC Eduqas), and University students from Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical and Civil Engineering departments across the UK. I also prepare students for entrance exams to top schools/universities, and help mature students prepare to return to education after a break.
In my previous roles I lectured course modules and supervised student projects in a top 100 global university in my role at the University of Glasgow's School of Engineering. I taught subjects of all levels across the engineering disciplines (aerospace, mechanical, electronics/electrical) - from foundation years, undergrad, up to postgrad MSc/Masters level, and have an excellent reputation and feedback within the School of Engineering.
I also taught in my role as a research student at the University of Strathclyde, providing tuition and guidance to Mechanical Engineering undergrads during lab demonstrations and tutorials.
Tutoring Approach:
Each student has individual needs and learning styles, and I aim to tailor my approach to match the student, and give them some control over how they want to be taught.
Students will have a say in what they learn from me, and how we approach it, helping me to identify their strengths and weaknesses, and structure a learning programme that complements them.
I intend for my students to gain a solid foundation and interest in their subject, and develop their own revision skills to improve their capacity for independent learning - it isn't just about passing the exam, but about nurturing an interest the subject and developing skills for the future.
I believe that the best way to learn is to enjoy yourself while doing it, so I aim to keep the sessions engaging for the student.
I am not a secondary school teacher, and do not teach like one. Feedback from clients suggests that the approach of many teachers doesn't resonate with all students, often failing to inspire them/their children to take an interest in a subject that could be interesting for them if they were introduced to it from the correct perspective. I aim to provide that missing perspective - expanding on what's taught in the classroom and filling in the gaps are left in the classroom.

Personal Description:
I have a PGCE in Secondary Art and Design, and have 8 years experience of working in education. I also have a degree in Theatre Design. I worked as a Visual Merchandiser for a couple of years after graduating, and then made the move into teaching.
I now work in pastoral roles within secondary schools - but actively keep up to date with the Art GCSE and A Level specs.
Teaching Experience:
I have worked as a Secondary Art teacher up to head of department level in London. Since moving up to Yorkshire 3 years ago I have worked in pastoral roles within 2 different schools, looking after years 7 and 8 and now 6th form.
Tutoring Approach:
Tutoring is not just filling in the gaps. I believe a Tutor should be a person of support through the difficult exam times, as well as a teacher. I work with young people to find out what their artistic style is and then help them use that to achieve their best possible result.
Creating artwork that ticks the right exam board boxes can be tricky - there is a lot of wok to do and it can seem unattainable to get everything done in time. I can help you streamline your work into the best pieces, and help you to show the links throughout your project in the most efficient ways.

Personal Description:
I have a Physics degree from Cambridge and still maintain an active and deep interest in the subject. Among my hobbies is close harmony singing - I run a mixed local singing group and have travelled widely in pursuit of musical excellence. I also appreciate the countryside and am happy to live, and walk, in a beautiful part of our country.
Teaching Experience:
My introduction to tutoring came through successfully helping my sons through their A-levels in Maths, Further Maths and Physics. The experience inspired me to look into tutoring as an alternative occupation, and, for the last couple of years, I have been pleased to take on other students. I now work part-time in software development but love teaching and find tutoring very rewarding. Generally, most of my students are working their way through their A-levels but I can also help out up to University level, either with preparation for entrance exams (e.g PAT, NSAA, STEP), or with some of the topics encountered in Maths / Physics / Engineering courses. I also do occasional work at GCSE level in these subjects.
Tutoring Approach:
I like to treat students as individuals with differing needs. For some the key is to develop a solid understanding - subject knowledge tends to build on itself, and those who miss basic points in class can often find themselves slipping behind, feeling lost and not able to cope. For others, it involves digging deeper into the subject to perhaps make connections that weren`t at first apparent.
At all levels, I have found that guided questioning and encouraging students to think through their own difficulties is very effective. It is very pleasing to see the spark of light when an idea hits home. And once the basics are established, of course, the key to success is practice, and the development of exam technique.

Personal Description:
My name is Jamie. I'm a maths graduate from the University of Bath (MMath). I was a Maths Teacher and Key Stage 5 Coordinator at a well-known and very successful secondary school and sixth form in Bath.
I have been a Maths tutor on and off since I was in sixth form and have over 10 years' experience across a variety of ages and abilities (as well as 5 years' experience as a teacher). I'm fortunate that I discovered my passion for teaching and tutoring at a relatively young age, and I have already been able to guide many students at primary, secondary and sixth form level towards their goals.
I have now chosen to become a tutor full-time. It is incredibly rewarding to continue sharing my knowledge and insights with any students who wish to learn. If I can pass on just a little bit of my infectious enthusiasm for the subject at the same time, then all the better!
I would like to keep my tutoring experience as varied and fulfilling as I possibly can, and so I welcome tutees of all levels from any background. Whether you are preparing for secondary school, GCSEs or A-levels, or simply aiming to improve your general numeracy skills, it would be a privilege to give you the support that you need to make progress.
Teaching Experience:
In total, I have over 10 years of experience tutoring. This would have started when I was in sixth form studying for my A-levels, then continuing on and off through my time at University and during my career as a teacher. During this time, I have tutored students at primary, secondary, sixth form, and university level, some being short term in the lead up to exams and others being long term.
I also have 5 years' experience as a teacher, and in my last year I was appointed Key Stage 5 Maths Coordinator for my school, giving me responsibility for all of our A-level students. During my teaching career, I was lucky enough to teach groups of all levels - from lower Year 7 right the way up to Year 13 Further Maths A-level.
My experience, both tutoring and teaching, has been invaluable in helping shape the tutor I strive to be going forwards.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe a simple approach to tutoring is the best one. I aim to work closely with my tutees to identify their goals, and create a plan of action to follow to give them the very best chance of success. My experience will enable me to deliver high-quality lessons with unique insights, and these can be supplemented with homework and independent tasks to consolidate knowledge and cement understanding.
Regular communication between tutee and tutor is key, and maintaining this with my tutees throughout their journey with me is one of my highest priorities. This way, we can celebrate successes and milestones towards our goal, but also intervene in good time if any part of our action plan needs adjusting. In the same way, I would always encourage tutees to approach me to share their thoughts on how things are going, so that I can continue with what's working and revise things which can be improved.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Jamie

Γειά σου, привет, hello!
I am Alexandra, a native and qualified Greek and Russian teacher and interpreter. I hold an MA in Russian from the University of Glasgow with distinction in Spoken Russian and a BA in Ancient & Modern Greek from Democritus University of Greece. Additionally, I have a Certificate in Public Service Interpreting from Glasgow Clyde College. With over 10 years of teaching experience, I specialise in helping students of all levels excel in both Greek and Russian.
Teaching Experience:
For the past decade, I have had the pleasure of combining my work as a professional interpreter with my passion for teaching Greek and Russian as foreign languages. This journey has been incredibly fulfilling. I've taught students of all ages and backgrounds, from young learners to adults, and have successfully helped many pass important language certifications such as the GCSE, TORFL, and the Certification of Attainment in Greek.
What excites me the most is seeing my students' confidence grow as they develop the ability to communicate in a new language. Each lesson is a step towards unlocking a new world of opportunities - whether it's for travel, work, or academic success. My students don't just learn a language; they learn to think in that language and immerse themselves in its culture. I offer tailored lesson plans that balance grammar, conversation, and real-world application, making sure that every student progresses at their own pace while staying motivated.
Tutoring Approach:
Learning a language should be an exciting and dynamic experience! I believe that language learning is more than memorising vocabulary and grammar rules - it's about connecting with new cultures, traditions, and ways of thinking. My approach is student-centered and highly interactive, with a focus on real-world communication. In our lessons, you'll not only learn the language but also how to use it in authentic situations.
I design my lessons to be fun, engaging, and practical. Whether you're preparing for an exam, brushing up for a trip, or learning for personal growth, my teaching methods will be customised to your needs. We'll use a variety of resources like multimedia, games, role-playing, and even cultural discussions to keep the learning process enjoyable and effective.
Moreover, I create a supportive environment where mistakes are seen as learning opportunities, helping you build confidence with every step. By focusing on active participation and constant practice, I ensure that learning Greek or Russian with me is not only effective but also exciting and rewarding.

Personal Description:
Hello! I am a highly qualified Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA), and I hold several prestigious qualifications including ADIT, ACCA, BSc, and MBA. I teach CTA, ACA, ACCA, ADIT students, and university graduates studying accounting and finance.
Currently, I work as a Chartered Tax Adviser with one of the Big 4 firms in London, specializing in providing Corporate Tax advisory services to multinational enterprises (MNEs). My role in the firm involves offering expert guidance to global organizations on complex tax matters, ensuring compliance and optimizing tax strategies within various jurisdictions.
With over two decades of experience in the field of tax advisory, I have developed an in-depth understanding of both practical and theoretical aspects of taxation, which I have successfully applied to help numerous international clients. However, alongside my professional work, my true passion lies in teaching. Over the last 20 years, I have had the privilege of helping countless students understand complex subjects, guiding them toward academic and professional success.
Teaching has always been a fulfilling and rewarding endeavor for me. Over the years, I have developed a deep understanding of the challenges students face while mastering difficult subjects, and I always aim to make learning more approachable, engaging, and meaningful. Whether you are looking to improve your knowledge of tax matters or advance your professional credentials, I am here to guide you through every step of the learning process.
I believe that education is not just about imparting knowledge; it's about igniting curiosity and fostering a deeper understanding. My goal is to make every lesson interactive, insightful, and most importantly, enjoyable. I take great pride in seeing my students gain confidence and excel in their studies.
Teaching Experience:
With a teaching career spanning over 20 years, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of students, from those studying for professional qualifications to individuals simply looking to enhance their understanding of tax and business-related subjects. Over these two decades, I have refined my teaching techniques and developed a tailored approach for each student based on their unique needs and learning styles.
My professional qualifications, including CTA, ADIT, ACCA, BSc, and MBA, have provided me with a broad and diverse knowledge base, allowing me to teach a wide array of subjects. I have taught students pursuing Chartered Tax Adviser exams, ACCA qualifications, and undergraduate and MBA programs. Additionally, I have worked with professionals who wish to upskill or stay current in the rapidly evolving world of corporate tax.
Throughout my career, I have taught both one-to-one and group classes in various formats. I believe that understanding the material is crucial for long-term success, so I ensure that my lessons are not just about passing exams, but about developing a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. My students consistently praise my ability to simplify complex topics and make them accessible.
I have also developed strong relationships with my students, many of whom return for further tutoring, knowing that my approach will provide them with the support and guidance they need to achieve their academic or professional goals. I find it incredibly rewarding to witness my students' progress, both in terms of their academic achievements and their newfound confidence.
Tutoring Approach:
My teaching philosophy is centered on creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment, where students feel both challenged and supported. I have always believed that effective learning doesn't require PowerPoint slides or complex visual aids. Instead, I rely on a more hands-on approach, using a touch-screen whiteboard to deliver lessons. This method allows for greater flexibility in explaining difficult concepts, drawing diagrams, and breaking down complex ideas in real-time. It's more akin to a traditional classroom setting, which I find enhances student engagement and fosters a more interactive learning experience.
I teach exclusively through a virtual classroom, which allows me to connect with students from anywhere in the world. Whether it's one-on-one tutoring or group sessions, I use cutting-edge technology to facilitate an immersive and seamless learning experience. I conduct my sessions on a Microsoft Book 2 laptop, ensuring high-quality, lag-free video calls and smooth sharing of notes, diagrams, and resources.
For my lessons, I use Skype, a reliable video conferencing platform that enables real-time communication and collaboration. If you're new to Skype, don't worry-it's free to install and easy to use. Through Skype, we can interact live, share screens, and discuss concepts just as we would in a physical classroom. Whether you are in the comfort of your home or on the go, you can access our lessons anytime, anywhere.
One of the key features of my sessions is that all notes and key takeaways from each lesson are recorded and shared with you afterward (upond request). This means that you can revisit any of the concepts we covered and have the materials for future reference, making learning even more flexible and convenient.
Moreover, I understand that everyone has a different pace and schedule, so I offer flexibility in terms of the time and date of the sessions. We can mutually negotiate a schedule that works best for both of us, ensuring that you can integrate your tutoring into your personal and professional commitments.
In summary, my teaching approach is student-centered, interactive, and highly flexible. I focus on understanding the subject deeply, making the material relatable, and providing continuous support to my students. Together, we'll work toward your success, building both your knowledge and your confidence in the subject.
