Austin is an internationally recognised singer and teacher of singing and is on the professorial staff at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Drama and an approved tutor in performance at Durham University and previously taught at Hull University, Leeds University, Glasgow University and York University as well as in schools. He has performed with leading conductors, orchestras and directors throughout Europe with companies including Edinburgh International Festival, English National Opera, Scottish Opera, Longborough Festival Opera, Berwick Festival Opera, the Musica Na Fabrica Festival in Portugal, Zurich Ballet and Ars Cantata in Switzerland as well as concert tours in Sweden, France and Italy.

He has done extensive work in schools with the education department of ENO, is director of Rocket Opera and previously director of Leeds Youth Opera 2019/2020 and director of vocal studies of OperaLabUK and has given masterclasses at universities, the National Student Opera Society, for OperaLab in Brussels and at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris as well as being adjudicator for the International School Musician of the Year Award in China and the Vocal Festival at Repton School.

He became Vice President of Ryton & District Music Festival in 2025.

I grew up in Peru and lived in the USA and UK before moving to Brazil for 10 years and Bolivia for 2 years before returning to England (Taunton and London). Mike my retired-vicar husband also worked in Africa and served as advisor at The Royal Institute of International Affairs.We have four grown-up children, each born in a different country, and as a family we all share a fascination with different cultures, religious beliefs and ethnic groups. My interests include foreign travel, cooking from around the world, candle-making, films and play-fighting with our cat Mimi. After obtaining my CELTA Certificate from the prestigious International House in London in the year 2000, I accumulated almost 3000 hours teaching experience on a one-to-one basis with Home Language International, Concordia International and Crest School of English, Edgware. I prefer the richness of residential tuition, since cultural immersion can lead to deeper relationships and a more holistic grasp of the culture behind the language. Nevertheless I have also a wide experience in one-to-one teaching in daily or weekly sessions. I have now just moved West to the Stroud area and am looking for new students and opportunities to share my passion for painting and all things creative. I have an up to date criminal record (DBS) check and I work as a GCSE Art exam moderator every summer so I`m very familiar with the latest requirements from the exam boards and course curricula. I am also an artist, selling paintings locally through various galleries, a writer and the illustrator of several published books. I`m the author of two books: `Soul Color, a ten week course on watercolour painting to cultivate creativity and mindfulness`, and `Earth Color, an eight week art course for nature connection`.
