Personal Description:

I am a qualified teacher, with a background in teaching Science with a specialism in Biology. I have a Bachelors' degree in Biology, a PGCE, a PG diploma in TESOL and a Masters degree in Psychology in Education.
I have a friendly and approachable manner, and have an excellent ability to adapt and individualise my teaching and communication style to suit each tutee, having worked with a very diverse range of ages, abilities and nationalities. I also have experience of providing private tuition, and have received outstanding feedback as a teacher and personal tutor.
I am fully registered with the DBS Update Service for working with children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified teacher with 10 years' teaching experience, having taught all ages from Primary to Secondary, as well as Academic Study Skills at University level. I have taught a wide range of additional learning needs, including Autism, ADHD and mental health challenges such as anxiety, and am highly skilled at adapting resources and the pace of learning to suit each individual.

Tutoring Approach:

I always take an individualised approach to teaching and learning. This would start by getting to know what support the tutees and parents/guardians are looking for, as well as gaining a good understanding of where the tutee is at in terms of their learning, and where they want or need to get to, and any additional learning needs the tutee may have.
This would be followed by making a mid-term learning plan, broken down into aims for each tuition session, incorporating a series of coherent learning activities to target each aim.
