As a new tutor i have limited teaching experience however; during the course of my studies for my degree i have on many occasions had the opportunity to take on the role of the musical director of a performance. With over 10 years education experience, I have taught in a variety of schools up to and including A Level computer science. Based in Leeds, I have led multiple subject areas with highly successful student outcomes. Since April 2019, I have had the privilege of leading Secondary Computing Education for the National Centre for Computing, across England.
Since starting my teaching career in 2012, I have been Curriculum Leader of a mixture of subjects including Computer Science, ICT, Business and Health & Social Care. Under my leadership, GCSE Computing results in 2017 were among the highest performing in Leeds and in the top 8% of the UK (BCS / Roehampton Computing Report, 2018).
From 2017 - 2019 I led a school-centred teacher training programme for secondary computing teachers in Leeds, this involved training the next generation of computing teachers and supporting them throughout their teacher training year.
I joined the National Centre for Computing Education as the Secondary Education Lead in April 2019, leading secondary teacher training to upskill computing teachers across England, ensuring the next generation of students receive a world class computing education.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught in schools in Leeds since 2012, my first teaching role included the introduction and leadership of GCSE Computing, the first cohort to complete this GCSE were one of the highest performing cohorts in Leeds and within the top 8% of schools across the country (Source: BCS, Roehampton Computing Report, 2018). This role also included the delivery of OCR Cambridge Nationals in ICT and iMedia - 100% of students achieved a level 2 qualification.
My second school involved me expanding my leadership to lead computing, computer science, business and health and social care. Results in this school increased rapidly, upon my arrival only 8% of students studying towards the ICT CiDA qualification had achieved a grade A*-C on their examined unit, under my leadership this rose to 76% within 9 weeks and to 100% at the end of the qualification. Student progress measures showed students achieved +2.7 grades higher compared to similar students across the country (GCSE results, 2019). Likewise, significant improvements were made in computer science, results also rose from 36% grade 9-4 to 98% grade 9-4 within one year, student progress measures showed students performed +1.9 grades higher compared to similar students across the country (GCSE results, 2019).
Between 2017 & 2019, I led a school-centred initial teacher training (SCITT) programme for secondary computing teachers in Leeds, this involved training the next generation of computing teachers and supporting them throughout their teacher training year. This process also included running a subject knowledge enhancement programme and running several 'Computing Subject Days' to develop pedagogical understanding in the subject.
In April 2019, I joined the National Centre for Computing Education, a new initiative, funded by the Department For Education, introduced in 2019 to support teachers with subject knowledge and the confidence to teach computing. I currently lead the secondary computing education strategy, leading on secondary teacher training, Isaac Computer Science, quality assurance, teacher residentials and more.
I am currently Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for Isaac Computer Science.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe in using a variety of teaching methods to suit the needs of the student to ensure each individual person can succeed. I believe that all students deserve to achieve and that is accomplished through a variety of styles alongside regular monitoring and assessment but also through a positive, professional manner.

I have a strong foundation in Film and Media, which is clearly exemplified by my degree and my experience in the media prior to becoming a teacher. A key focus within my degree was the making of new and innovative content for emerging new media technologies, digital broadcasting underlined by learning traditional narrative structures and learning the production process from pre-production to post-production for Film and TV. My degree gave me a strong foundation in the skills required for creating creative media and film productions across a range of media platforms, as well as providing me with the fundamental theoretical concepts underlying film, digital media and communication technologies.
Throughout my teaching career, I have regularly achieved grades of 'outstanding', which has been consistent throughout by PGCE and NQT, leading me to deliver whole school insets on teaching and learning on creative and innovative strategies using new media technologies to raise standards. My teaching is constantly recognised for my creative approach to resources and the use of visual media technology. I've been teaching and lecturing for 15 years on different film movements and periods through early cinema to present day. I regularly analyse key film texts exploring all areas of film form and the aesthetical quality. I have a strong knowledge on the histrionics of film through intellectual engagement. My ability to teach practical filmmaking from production and post-production has driven my love for cinema. I use the study of film scenes to support actors in analysing actor's choices, tactics and objectives, voice, movement and how actors work in different screen compositions and frames.

Tutoring Approach:
I offer online private and group lessons between 9am and 8.30 pm.
My lessons are extremely visual, communicative, fun and student focused.
We work with resources I prepare in advance, including a PowerPoint presentations with a variety of exercises (images, videos, music, anything that can help you advance in the language).
My students get the chance to meet other learners on WhatsApp and we have weekly conversation meetings.
Lesson Packages include:
> Warm-up activity
> Speaking, listening, reading and writing exercises during and after sessions
> Dynamic Visual-Communicative resources copy sent to students
> Online games, flashcards and quizzes
> Teacher notes and homework at the end of every lesson with a copy of the material used during the lesson
> Google Classroom access to over 100+ videos, exercises, games and activities
> WhatsApp Language Exchange Group and Community (optional)
> Virtual meetings may be offered with other students who want to chat and practice the language. It will depend on teacher's and students' availability. These meeting are optional, for those students who wish to meet other people who are also learning the language and want to pracitce it.
If you are worried about it being online, we make it feel as it would be in-person: during our sessions, you would:
- be able to follow everything we are studying on your screen, just like if we were in person with a book.
- write your answer and read my notes on Google Docs, just like you would if we were in person with your notebook and a whiteboard.
- if you prefer to do your homework on your notebook (paper and pen), you can still do it. All you will have to do is to take a picture and add to your Google Docs. This way I can read everything you have written, add commas, accent marks, check spelling and everything.
- If you wish to meet other people who are also learning the language, have a chat, practice the language, you will be have the choice to meet my other students every Friday evening for our Conversation Meet Ups or Game Nights, and you will be able to join our WhatsApp group to keep in touch with them.
if you worry you need to have listening exercises during your sessions, you will also have it with the resources I will have prepared for you.
As you can see, you will be able to practice all language skills with my sessions. I give you my word.

I have been teaching English as a foreign language for over twenty years in the UK, Turkey and Japan.
I am passionate about the subject and like to let students take things at their own pace.
I do conversation and grammar correction. I have taught IELTS writing. I hold a Diploma in EFL. I am also qualified in art and have taught artist`s skills to foreign language students who are interested.
I am located in the Beckenham area and within 5 minutes walk from two train stations: Kent House and New Beckenham.
Teaching Experience:
Over 20 years in UK, Japan and Turkey. I have worked for 4 schools that were all British council approved.
I offer lectures on Uk History to foreign learners.
I am an established artist in water colour and sketching with a portfolio of over 600 completed works.
