I have 45 years of full-time teaching experience of Maths and physics in schools, colleges and universities. He keeps track of which questions you get wrong and then recaps them at the beginning of the next lesson until you get full marks on it, which I found really helpful. Learning how to learn is important for everyone and I can help students build their own study skills , developing both abilities and confidence. Please note the cost advertised here are for online lessons lasting 40 minutes, longer or face to face lessons will incur extra fees. You can take the option to spread the cost of term time lessons over 12 months (or less if appropriate). Teaching Experience:
During my teaching career I have taught in 4 different high schools including schools with a sixth form. My first post was in a Lancashire High school where I was responsible for the intervention in Mathematics which involves helping small groups of pupils who are below target in Mathematics. My last GCSE group all achieved grade A*-C. (set 2 of 6)

My next post was in a Sefton High School and sixth form where I was responsible for organising and running intervention. My GCSE group (set 5/bottom set) all achieved at least three levels of progress from their starting point and 3 pupils achieved a grade C (This was above their target grade).

In my final year I was teaching 3 GCSE classes. A higher group in which all achieved 6-9 as well as a vocational group and a bottom set where some pupils achieved grade 4 and others made their expected progress.

Some of the successes include a pupil moving from a predicted grade 6 to a grade 9 and another moving from a 5 in his December mock exam to a grade 8 in his March mock exam, gaining the award for most improved result in the whole school and then went on to achieve a 9 in his GCSE's. Another pupil who moved from a grade 2 to a grade 4. In total I had 14 final year students in 2017, 18 in 2018, 21 in 2019, 25 in 2020 and 23 in 2021, 26 in 2022, 18 in 2023, 12 in 2024 and 14 in 2025 who all improved their grade and achieved grades 4-9 (C-A*+).

Tutoring Approach:
I want all my students to be able to develop their understanding of mathematics rather than just learning how to answer a question. I try to work with their class teacher in following the methods they are being taught at school but also realise that different methods may be appropriate if they are struggling. I set homework weekly which is assessed at the start each session unless it is a longer piece or exam paper which is taken away and marked and brought back to the next session. I plan topics which are linked to previous learning in order to develop the bigger picture of mathematics but have excellent subject knowledge so I'm able to change my plan if the student wishes to look at another area that might have arisen as a problem in school/college. I also like my students to be proactive and get in touch if they wish to cover a particular topic which wasn't mentioned at the end of the previous session. I have a good relationship with all the people I tutor, they are at ease to ask questions and praise is central to help raise confidence. Hello, I'm Alexander, I'm 23 and I'm from Essex. I'm currently pursuing my PhD in Organic Chemistry at University College London. I graduated from the Univesity of Leicester with a masters degree in Chemistry (With A Year Abroad) in July 2018. I am able to teach chemistry well up to University level, with preference toward A-Level and GCSE standards. I can also assist in the learning of Phyiscs and Maths up to GCSE level.

Teaching Experience:
I have experience tutoring pupils at GCSE and A-Level standard and since becoming a post-graduate student I have undertaken giving first and second year undergraduates tutorials in organic chemistry and working as a demonstrator in laboratory sessions of the same pupils.

Tutoring Approach:
I aim to identify my tutees core weaknesses early on, strengthen these as a priority and build from there with respect to other topics, trying to ensure everything's kept at a level playfield, and so the tutee becomes just as comfortable with what they were struggling with initially, with respect to topics they were confident about. I do this by using a variety of methods including specimen questions and information, using my own resources that I can tailor around a specific tutees needs and asking the tutee to put information they've read or been taught, into their own words so they understand the processes more clearly.

Teaching Experience:
I am currently working full time at an OFSTED Outstanding rated secondary school as a Teacher of Science, with a specialism in Chemistry. I have 14 years of teaching experience, covering Key Stage 3 Science, GCSE Combined Science and Seperate Science with a Chemistry specialism, A-Level Chemistry on both the AQA and OCR exam boards, and BTEC Level 3 Applied Science. I have taught a large number of students who have gone on to study at Oxford and Cambridge, students who have studied Medicine, and also students who have gone on to university to study Chemistry.
