I am an experienced scientist tutor offering private tuition throughout London and Essex. I have taught science and mathematics to all ability ranges from GCSE, A-levels and graduates. Teaching Experience:
I have 20 years' teaching experience of mathematics, mainly up to GCSE level but have also taught on a 1:1 basis as a home tutor for several years. I have taught adults and children from the age of 5. My main experience is at secondary level in the UK but I have also worked for a number of years in the USA and Australia. I have also worked for a number of years in the primary sector before qualifying as a teacher.

Tutoring Approach:
I have a friendly approach to students and am happy to work as an individual tutor and also to a small group. I have found home tutoring to be extremely rewarding and enjoy seeing the progress that students make. Having successfully completed a PhD in History in 2011 following a BA in History (2005) and MA in Medieval History (2006), I have recently authored a book on Cultural Trends in Medieval Poetry, set to be published by E.J. Brill in 2016. I have tutored English for many years, specialising in language analysis and literary interpretation. My work has involved assisting with Controlled Assessments, prose and poetry analysis and exam preparation.

Teaching Experience:
I have tutored students preparing for SATs, GCSEs and A-Levels, and have taught all major texts at GCSE and A-Level including poetry anthologies. I have also taught at Royal Holloway, University of London, where I recently completed a post-doctorate tenure in Politics and International Relations (2012-2015). I have learnt that what many students often find difficult is language analysis in their prose and poetry texts. It is also what usually deprives them of the higher marks. My tutoring is tailored to ensure that students gain a thorough understanding of texts, and are able to effectively interpret and comment on them. Professionally I have Chartered Engineer status and Member of prestigious IET and having Bachelors degree in Electrical engineering and Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and over 20 yrs of professional work experience. I like to make students comfortable first so that they can ask questions, I believe no question is silly.to be honest I can observe easily if the student has understood what I explained or not, then I prompt looks like you didn't understand, so let's learn again. I am an energetic and ambitious final year university student with five years of experience in tutoring. Italian is my first language but I am also fluent in English (IELTS level C1).
I have been an exchange student in 2016/17 in England and I obtained my AS levels. The year after I went back to Italy to complete my studies and gain the Italian Diploma di Stato, in which I scored 82/100. I was then back in England to obtain the A-level qualifications and I am now studying at University.

Tutoring Approach:
My methodology is quite structured, but I easily adapt to students' styles and preferences.

99% of the students who come to me want to learn how to talk to people, so I am used to this request. I help them achieve this by ensuring that they know their grammar inside and out, and by supporting them with their speaking alongside it. The more we build on the grammar, the more we can build on the speaking, simultaneously. I have personally designed 4 levels of speaking, so the activities vary based on the level the student is in and build up smoothly.
For students who are interested in long-term tutoring, I often recommend a textbook to use along with my slides. I also make use of WhatsApp to send recordings if the student is struggling with pronunciation.

Most people appreciate the importance of knowing some basic grammar before they can practice speaking, and they are open to trusting me to fill in their knowledge gaps first. Once that's done (usually after 5-6 sessions if you start from zero), I introduce them to my "level 1" speaking practice, which is about describing a picture or something that they can visually see, in short, disconnected sentences. "Level 2" would be to try and get that speech to flow a little bit better by using pronouns and particles to avoid repetition. "Level 3" would be to add a bit of made-up background to that picture. For example, if they see that the table is laid but an object is missing, such as cutlery, they can try and think of why that could be (e.g. the man forgot to put the cutlery on the table). "Level 4" will involve describing procedures or things that they can partially visualize, or that are completely abstract, for example, describing every single action taken to make a cake, or talking about a past holiday. Lastly, "level 5" involves debating about current issues or picking a topic, establishing that we have two different opinions, and the student has to try to convince me of theirs.
These "levels" vary from person to person but it provides at least an idea of how the speech develops alongside the grammar, which is present in every session.

Hello :) I'm a PhD graduate in Immunology and Immunotherapy. I'm currently a Post-doctoral Fellow at the University of Birmingham, UK. My primary research interest is the development of immunodiagnostics.

Teaching Experience:
I've been a private tutor teaching Maths up to secondary school level and English up to GCSE level for AQA and OCR exam boards for the last 8 years. I'm also an external examiner for AQA for the English Language series.

I also tutor GCSE Biology and Chemistry and A level Biology for the AQA and OCR exam boards and have successfully tutored a number of students over the last 4 years.

I also have taught integrated problem solving and clinical communication courses to Year 1 and 2 medical students at the University of Birmingham over the last few years.

Tutoring Approach:
I prefer one-to-one tuition as I feel that group tutoring can sometimes detract from each student's tutoring experience. I can prepare PowerPoint tutorials for students that feel like they are struggling with certain topics and I also feel that reviewing practice exam questions and past papers are essential to the tutee's academic development.

I studied Latin from a young age and have long been entranced by Ancient civilisations. I have a first class honours degree in Classics and have a Masters degree at Merit in Ancient Cultures.

Teaching Experience:
I am currently working as a Teaching Assistant at a special needs school and have been there for about 2 years. I have also been tutoring a student in Ancient Greek for 40 minutes a week for a year and a half. I have previously assisted a younger sibling with understanding their homework.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach can be that the tutee would be able to send the points that they wished to be addressed before the session, so that each session could be tailored to meet their needs, with any questions remaining after the session being answered in a subsequent email. Homework would be an optional reinforcement.

Alternatively, my approach to my current tutee, who has a textbook to work from is that I use the textbook and the exercises within to plan lessons and set homework much like in a school setting, with end of unit tests for each chapter.
