Teaching Experience:
Having started my own music college in South Africa 6 years ago and tutoring students on a one to one basis for the last year in London. My experience as a tutor is vast, not only do I have teaching/tutoring experience but also years of live session work in studio and on stage with various bands. Often co-writing singles that would go to chart.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to teaching is tailored to each individual. Obviously in group sessions this can become complicated but I do always give each student personal attention so that they are learning the way that best suits them. I find just teaching students theory tends to take the Joy of music away ( and Music is first and foremost about joy and love for the art ). At the same time, on the opposite side of the coin not teaching the student any theory can be destructive.

My approach entails a mixture of Technique, Theory, and a vast amount of Practical. Because of each student being an individual, I mould my approach in how I teach them in these three areas, to maximize their potential.

I'm a specialist teacher and tutor in Physics and Maths online, via Zoom.
I am a fully qualified (B.Sc., M,Sc., PGCE + enhanced DBS certificate), professional teacher and tutor of Physics, Maths and Science- with 25 + years experience of teaching to Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, GCSE, IGCSE, AS / A2 - Level, as well as considerable experience as an examiner and Head of Physics Department.

Tutoring Approach:
By discussion with the student and parent I establish the learning needs of the student.
I work with the student to devise teaching and learning strategies to suit the student.

We use Zoom for conversation. I share my qualifications, my certificates, my CRB / DBS, my references, and discuss the student's educational needs, just as I would if face-to-face.

Together - the student and I - we compose our lesson notes which I write out and - at the end of the lesson - I scan the notes and send them to the student.
We can also use and share an interactive online whiteboard, just like a sheet of paper between us, and of course screen - sharing technology to bring our tuition notes to the home of the student.

We try to make the online learning experience and working relationship as similar as possible to a face - to - face learning experience.

I offer a top quality tuition package - friendly, patient and reliable - to meet the needs of the individual student who wants to improve her / his grades and is prepared to work hard.

I studied Economics at Cambridge University and then went on to play rugby to an International level and also coach at the same level. I am now married with 2 children and love helping people achieve their potential.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught A-Level Economics for the last 2 years at a non-selective private school. Last year, 1/4 of my students achieved 100 UMS at A2 and 1/3 achieved an A*. One student had achieved a D at AS and finished with an A* with a UMS average of 95. Prior to this, I played and coached sport at an International Level so have a real understanding of learning and how to help people improve, often starting with behavioural change and combining this with activities to maximise the students' learning. I also tutored several students last year including a mature student, all achieved the grades they required.

I use nudges to change behaviours in my students on an individual basis. We need to get to the stage where the student is comfortable teaching the subject matter to me and the whole course is connected rather than studied in isolation. After I gave up my job as a school teacher, I started tutoring in my free time as well because helping pupils was a side of my work that I really missed.

I'm currently in my second year of college studying A-level economics, A-level maths and A-level business.
I went from failing all my subjects to getting predicted Bs, this has led me to wanting to help others fall in love with the subjects they're struggling in and achieve great results. I will be studying economics at university therefore economics is the subject that I'm most confident at and can help first year students only, as for help regarding GCSE maths I'm open to tutoring students in year 8 and year 9.
