Personal Description:
I am friendly outgoing tutor who has a variety of interests. I enjoy travelling and playing a wide variety of sports in my spare time. I am fairly young and this ensures I can always communicate with my students effectively
Teaching Experience:
I have been tutoring for over 16 years and have had over 400 students in that time from numerous different schools and backgrounds. My success rate is very good.
Tutoring Approach:
I like to break up whichever subject I am tutoring into the various topics that make up the syllabus. I will then go through each lesson the different topics ensuring the student has understood what I am explaining, if not I will explain it again in a different way to ensure they have understood. I will then set regular homeworks and closer to the exam time go through past papers keeping parents up to date with their childs progress. I have a clear vision in how I need to take make each student progress and this structured approach has served me very well. I always ensure my communication with my students is very good and that they enjoy their lessons aswell as learning. This sets me apart from other tutors as I am young yet still very experienced at what I do. I can sometimes be more flexible with rates and do provide group tuition which may be more cost effective for you.

Personal Description:
I am currently studying for a Biological Sciences PhD. I have an MSc in Applied Marine Science and a first class honours BSc in Marine Biology.
I love my subject and want to share this with the next generation while helping them achieve the best that they can.
Teaching Experience:
I have experience in secondary level education in England, having completed the Student Associate Scheme at the end of my Bachelors Degree. In doing so I had experience working as a classroom assistant and running my own Biology lessons.
I have also worked as a demonstrator within the university.
Tutoring Approach:
I don't believe in giving the answers, it does not help anybody. My approach is to explore the question/problem/topic. If a question can be explored from a different angle then the answer is always reachable. Learning shouldn't be just memorising facts, but really understanding a topic. I love that moment when it just clicks!

Personal Description:
My name is Jerome and I am currently a Lead Practitioner at a school in Surrey. I live in Old Coulsdon with my wife and twin boys. I tutor from home with online via Zoom and I am willing to travel up to two miles from my home. I enjoy reading (both fiction and non-fiction) and enjoy playing chess in my spare time. I have been learning French and currently speak at intermediate level (B1).
Teaching Experience:
I am a qualified English Teacher with QTS from Goldsmith's University. I have a BA in English Language & Literature from the University of Westminster. I have been a secondary school English teacher for 12 years and I have been private tutoring for 10 years. I have also taught key stage 2 and A-Level English, as well as prepare students for the 11 Plus and verbal reasoning. I have taught children with SEN and EAL requirements.
Tutoring Approach:
The first lesson is free is you choose not to continue. Lessons are calm, focussed and engaging. Each child is unique and therefore requires unique approaches tailored to their needs. I therefore tailor my sessions to your child's needs. I provide several resources for each session and identify where the shortfalls are in the child's education. All lessons are emailed as a PDF, as well as homework after each lesson. Lessons are designed to support the tutee's topics at school. I set work for the child to complete before the next session and check on the progress when I return. During exam season, I create bespoke lessons centered around time management, revision and mock papers.

Personal Description:
With over a decade of professional experience across education, healthcare, and scientific research, I bring a unique and richly layered skill set to students at all academic levels. I am a Qualified Teacher (QTS) and a recent PGCE graduate with a science specialism, currently teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. My extensive background includes roles as a Science Teacher, Science Technician, Trainee Biomedical Scientist (NHS), Pharmacovigilance Specialist, and Quality Assurance Specialist within clinical and regulatory healthcare environments.
I hold two Master's degrees MSc in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology and a Distinction-awarded MSc in Healthcare Leadership which underpin my rigorous academic approach and commitment to evidence-based teaching and mentoring. My professional and academic journey equips me to support students in a wide range of subjects, including GCSE and A-Level Sciences, healthcare and nursing coursework, leadership and management assignments, and dissertation projects requiring in-depth critical analysis and Harvard referencing.
I specialise in:
1) Homework and curriculum support across KS3-KS5 in Science (Chemistry, Biology, and Physics)
2) University-level coursework, including healthcare leadership, nursing, and care-related qualifications (Levels 3, 5, and 7)
3) Academic mentoring, including research proposals, literature reviews, leadership tasks, and full dissertation support
4)Personalised guidance on scientific writing, referencing, academic integrity, and critical thinking development
Above all, I strive to empower each learner to exceed their goals and grow in academic confidence, while fostering deep subject understanding through adaptive teaching tailored to individual needs. Whether you're preparing for exams, tackling university assignments, or pursuing professional development, I am here to help you succeed and thrive.
Teaching Experience:
With a strong foundation in both education and health sciences, I bring an integrative and practice-informed approach to teaching and tutoring. As a Qualified Teacher (QTS) with a completed PGCE in Secondary Science (Chemistry Specialism), I have taught across multiple London-based schools, including structured placements and real classroom instruction at both Key Stage 3 and 4 levels. I am well-versed in delivering AQA, OCR, and Edexcel curricula, with hands-on experience planning and providing full schemes of learning, assessing student progress, and managing classroom dynamics effectively.
Over the years, I have worked in six different secondary schools across London, serving in capacities including science teacher, science technician, and teaching assistant. I regularly stepped up to deliver complete lessons during teacher absences and collaborated with departments to design, demonstrate, and adapt practical experiments that align with national curriculum requirements. My classes are interactive, inclusive, and geared towards deep understanding, utilising a range of strategies that include visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic learning.
Alongside my educational expertise, I possess a distinguished career in healthcare and biomedical science, having worked across four NHS Trusts (Chelsea and Westminster, Royal Free London, Epsom & St Helier, and Maidstone & Tunbridge Wells). As a trainee biomedical scientist in histopathology, I've analysed biological specimens and explored disease pathways in real clinical settings, translating these insights into powerful learning tools for students interested in science, nursing, or medicine.
This dual exposure to real-world healthcare and frontline teaching significantly enriches my tutoring. I specialise in bridging classroom science with its real-life applications, making topics more relevant, engaging, and impactful. My support extends from primary and secondary education to university-level students, including those studying nursing, healthcare leadership, and biomedical sciences.
Academic Contributions and Specialist Coursework:
• Leadership in Healthcare: Developed reflective essays and action plans grounded in Kotter's and Goleman's theories to explore personal leadership growth.
• Innovation & Change: Created quality improvement project proposals using PDSA and other evaluation models.
• Patient Safety & Quality: Delivered critical analyses of healthcare incidents, policy frameworks, and safety protocols using real case studies.
• Policy & Global Health: Presented advanced policy analysis via a 10-minute narrated presentation examining the evolution of UK health policy.
• Capstone Project: Delivered a full poster and narrative evaluating the integration of AI, predictive analytics, and psychosocial support in dementia care demonstrating academic rigour and healthcare foresight.
My personable approach, deep subject expertise, and commitment to adapting instruction to every learner's needs make me a trusted educational partner for students across London and beyond.
Tutoring Approach:
Tutoring Approach (Updated Version)
My tutoring approach is grounded in academic precision, real-world relevance, and a deep commitment to inclusive, adaptive learning. With a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE in Secondary Science, I integrate my classroom teaching experience with a strong scientific foundation in biomedical science and healthcare leadership. I tailor each session to support diverse learning styles visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, and reading/writing ensuring students of all abilities can access, understand, and retain complex scientific concepts.
To deepen engagement, I design sessions using:
• Scenario-based learning
• Annotated diagrams and mind maps
• Real-life clinical examples
• Modelled answers and worked examples
• Interactive PowerPoints and digital whiteboards
This multi-modal teaching strategy enhances comprehension, exam readiness, and critical thinking across all key stages and university levels.
Having worked as a trainee biomedical scientist across several NHS Trusts and at LGC (Local Government Chemist) Europe's leading scientific laboratory I bring advanced scientific expertise into every lesson. From analysing biological specimens for disease pathology to detecting complex substances like cocaine and heroin, I translate these experiences into tangible, relatable lessons that inspire students and build curiosity.
Technology plays a central role in my sessions. I use:
• Laptops and tablets for simulations and assessments
• Short videos and animations to visualise processes
• Live demonstrations and experiments (where applicable)
• Curated lecture notes and handouts for revision and consolidation
Each student receives bespoke academic resources before and after sessions, reinforcing learning continuity and promoting independent study habits.
Furthermore, I regularly collaborate with science departments to plan and facilitate practical experiments that align closely with national curriculum specifications (AQA, OCR, Edexcel). This ensures students not only master theoretical knowledge but are fully prepared to apply it in practical settings, assessments, and future careers-whether in science, medicine, or health.
Ultimately, my goal is to transform each tutoring experience into a confident, high impact learning journey, equipping students with the academic tools, mindset, and motivation to excel beyond expectations.

Personal Description:
I have 13+ years of experience teaching in person and online. I have a 1st class Masters degree in Theoretical Physics (York, 2015), a PhD in Theoretical Plasma Physics (Warwick, 2019), 7+ years as an academic physicist, and soon a degree in Medicine (Oxford, 2030).
For the past 7 years I have worked as an academic plasma physics fusion energy researcher, winning multiple national awards during this time and becoming leader of my research team (Turbulence in fusion plasmas). I have had a wonderful career as a plasma physicist, but it is time for a change; I will soon leave this job and start Graduate Entry (accelerated) Medicine at Oxford in September - I am incredibly excited! Below is a brief outline of my tutoring experience and qualifications.
- 13 years of tutoring experience mostly in Maths and Physics. From GCSE to University level as well as adult learner.
- 27 5* ratings on a now defunct online tutoring marketplace
- Experience tutoring for Oxbridge entrance exams, including PAT and MAT.
- Theoretical physics MPhys (1st), University of York, 2011-2015.
- PhD in Theoretical plasma physics, University of Warwick, 2015-2019, awards for best plasma physics PhD thesis in the UK, best physics PhD thesis at Warwick, and postgraduate teaching at Warwick.
- Career as a Nuclear fusion researcher, 2019-2026, UK early career plasma physicist award, research group leader, Chartered physicist
- I have 13+ years of experience teaching in person and online. I have a 1st class Masters degree in Theoretical Physics (York, 2015), a PhD in Theoretical Plasma Physics (Warwick, 2019), 7+ years as an academic physicist, and soon a degree in Medicine (Oxford, 2030).
For the past 7 years I have worked physicist, 29 peer-reviewed publications.
- Medicine (accelerated graduate entry), University of Oxford, Sep 2026 - 2030), I am going back to University to retrain as a medical doctor.
- I have historically taught Maths, Physics, and some adjacent areas such as certain Computer Science and Economics University modules. I am now in a position to also teach Chemistry GCSE and A-level, and the UCAT medical/dental entrance exam.
- > 3000 in my UCAT
- Full and recent (2025) DBS check
- Private pilot with night rating (I can offer advice for the 9 ground school exams and can handily link with Maths and Physics).
Outside of work and study, I am qualified private and licensed skydiver and generally enjoy all things aviation and outdoors.
Please see below for a breakdown of my tutoring experience, the services I can offer, and my approach to tutoring.
Teaching Experience:
I specialise in bespoke 1-to-1 lessons with students, but I can also offer group lessons upon request. Lessons are usually by the hour, but can be in the format of a "crash course" in a subject over, for example, a weekend.
I am happy teaching in-person at your home, but equally comfortable teaching online using Zoom Pro.
Here is a list of things I have taught in the past and am able to teach now:
Maths - A-level / GCSE / International Baccalaureate.
- Physics - A-level / GCSE / International Baccalaureate.
- Chemistry - A-level / GCSE / International Baccalaureate.
- UCAT preparation (medical and dental school aptitude test).
- Medical school interview preparation.
- Cambridge and Oxford maths, physics and engineering entrance exams (e.g. PAT, STEP)
- Scottish advanced highers maths.
- Scottish advanced highers physics.
- First year university physics.
- Second year university physics.
- First year university maths.
- Second year university maths.
- First year university mechanical engineering.
- Second year university mechanical engineering.
- First year university maths for economics.
- First year university maths for computer science.
- Maths/engineering HND diploma.
I am fortunate to be able to, in some instances, be the sole tutor for all of a student's A-level subjects. For instance, if you have a child studying Chemistry, Maths, and Physics A-levels with the aim of doing a Physics/Maths/Medicine degree; I would be able to tutor your child in all these subjects as well as entrance exams and university interview preparation.
If there is something not on this list that you would like help with than please feel free to message me so we can explore our options. I am happy to offer either a 50% discount on our first hour, or a free 30 minute trial lesson.
Tutoring Approach:
I find an informal style works best, particularly with secondary school students. The 1-to-1 (or small classroom) nature of tutoring lends itself well to this style, and over the years I have found that creating an environment in which the student is at ease and not afraid to make mistakes is essential to the learning process.
Having discussed the content of the lesson with the student / parent(s) prior to the lesson, a typical lesson would usually start by clarifying what the student expects out of the lesson and what knowledge I hope to impart upon the student. Using A-level Maths as an example, let's assume for the moment that the student is completely stuck at differentiating using the quotient rule (a common complaint I've received from students). I typically set the student a warm-up problem and ask them to do it whilst I watch. I watch and make mental and written notes of the key steps where their understanding is lacking or where their procedure for doing the question could be improved. I then discuss this with the student, and often, I take the time to derive the rules from first principles, with the aim of forming links in the student's brain so they don't "think" about answering the question next time. As an example, the quotient rule and be derived from the product rule, and once I show them this (not often done at school), the logic behind it is no longer opaque, and the student is often able to perform better on subsequent problems.
We then typically work through a subset of increasingly more challenging problems, and I resist the urge to tell the student the answer, instead asking targeted questions to guide them in the right direction. I almost always set homework problems, including at least one stretching problem, which are tailored to the needs of the specific student I am teaching, and we begin the next lesson by clarifying anything from the problems. Most lessons, I naturally make links between the content and my own career or another example from the world of work. I find this gives the students context and enthuses them.
Importantly, I don't recommend further tuition when it is not necessary. As an example, you may decide to start with hourly lessons twice per week. As your child's understanding and confidence grows, we may decide together that we feel comfortable dropping down to once a week. This is an excellent outcome that we can take pride in. I view my job as not only to impart knowledge and turn that A into an A*, but also to give the student the tools they need to direct their own learning.

Personal Description:
I am Marcin Bernard, an artist and art educator who mainly specialises in painting and sculpting on wood and stone. I have been painting and sculpting since twelve years of age. I completed MFA in Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk in Poland. I have currently moved back to the United Kingdom with my family and am loving in York.
I am passionate about creating art, and I would like to inspire and teach students to be creative and effective in art and use art skills in life.
I believe it is essential to impart the story of Art, its developments and its power over centuries till the present times. Art is still very much alive and able to revolutionise our culture that impacts our societies at a global level going beyond its aesthetic ability to communicate to the masses. I believe Art is taught better as a praxis where the practice and theory are equally essential to engage our students and better equip them to become artists with altruistic nature, identifying and developing their potential by providing them with guidance. I have also sought opportunities to employ innovative approaches to enhance the delivery of my art lessons capitalising on traditional and digital art techniques, technology and online platforms with significance.
Teaching Experience:
I genuinely enjoy working together with the students. When I conducted a stone carving workshop at NIE( National Institute of Education) in Singapore, where I taught students how to transfer 2D ideas to 3D but carving directly onto limestone, it can be an upheaval task for students but to scaffold them to visualise their plan, see through the process from beginning to the end, problem-solving, tweaking, translating the 2D idea into 3D effectively, seeing them succeed and execute, gave me the feeling of satisfaction and joy. I realise then this is what I want to do, to teach. It was very different from an artist satisfaction.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach is to find out the strength as interest of my students and to guide them to develop them and also to work ideas and think through their narratives and purpose of their work of art or art project. It can also be skill based if the child wants to develop skills, or to facilitate help towards their academic but as well discover the artistic talent in them while working towards their academic projects.
Every student is different and I would contribute by imparting skills such as observation, analytical cognitive processes, technical ability such as drawing, painting, sculpting. Also, to help students consider the story and the art-making that would best express and communicate the intended narrative. To gain knowledge about the medium through experimentation, execution considering composition, and art elements as simple as lines that are essential and part of the creative process in learning aesthetics by exposing the students to look at various art forms and observe our daily grind from everyday life. Enabling students to communicate, to articulate the value art can give and impact our society. I want to facilitate learning and journey with my students to become independent, comfortable and satisfied with the creative process of creating their artworks innovatively. Recently, I have been researching and exploring digital means and understanding what this means in today's world and culture.

Personal Description:
Welcome to my Page! I'm Tyrone. I'm glad you're here. Education can transform lives, and teachers help facilitate this. I speak from personal experience about this. My teachers did not see an academic career for me at school - and they did very little to help me change this. I was considered a low achiever and expected to be a plumber like my father. There is nothing wrong with plumbing; it just wasn't for me. If you've read this far, I hope you will continue as I map out my journey.
I left school with a list of low-grade GCSEs and 1 A-Level - yes, it was Biology! I had no hope of going to university with these grades, so I got my first job testing soil samples. Still determined to study science at university, I enrolled on several open university (OU) courses. I did well on the OU, which allowed me to study Immunology at King's College, London. I did this after spending three years as a medical laboratory assistant in the NHS, my second job.
After graduating from King's with a BSc degree and a fascination with cancer biology, I joined Newcastle University. I spent the next four years researching anti-cancer drugs' effects on DNA. I successfully developed novel ways to measure the level of anti-cancer drugs stuck to DNA. It was a great day when the Royal Society of Chemistry published my work. The Royal Society of Biology rewarded my academic and research experience with the Chartered Biologist status. Charted Biologist is the recognition of professional competence.
On returning home to Wales, I had my first taste of teaching 16 to 19-year-olds - and I loved it. However, teaching at Bridgend College was only for maternity cover, and my contract soon ended. My next position was with Loreal (yes, I am worth It) as a microbiologist. Loreal was great as it was a weekend position and allowed me to teach part-time at Gower College Swansea during the week.
I have spent the last 17 years teaching A-Level Biology at Gower College Swansea full time. During this time, I qualified as a teacher from the University of Wales with a PGCE. The Biology department is highly successful and renowned. The department has a 100% pass rate and grades well above the national average. I learned so much here about helping people with their education. It was where I saw firsthand how a teacher could facilitate the real transformational effects of education. I am proud to have helped so many students of varying abilities gain success in A-Level Biology.
Along with teaching at Gower College, I continued to tutor students privately. I started my tutoring business at Bridgend College and now tutor full-time online.
As your A-Level Biology tutor, I will use my vast teaching experience to guide you towards academic success. I strive to cultivate a nurturing and engaging learning environment where you can flourish.
Join me on this exciting educational journey, where we will unlock your potential and pave the way for a successful future.
Teaching Experience:
For more than 25 years, I have worked with thousands of students of different abilities to teach them A-Level Biology successfully. Throughout this experience, I have developed effective teaching and learning strategies tailored to each student's needs. These strategies consistently empower my students to achieve high grades allowing them to move forward in their lives.
Teaching Experience:
Bridgend College:
Bridgend College is a college for further education in South Wales. I taught here for approximately a year, instructing students pursuing the veterinary nurse HND qualification. My subjects included anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and the practical aspects.
Gower College, Swansea:
Gower College is a large further education college located in Goresinun, Swansea. Over the past 17 years, I have taught A-Level Biology at this institution. The biology department is sizable, with over 300 students enrolled each year. As a department member, I have contributed to its success by ensuring student achievement, resulting in a 100% pass rate and grades that exceed the national average. In addition to teaching, I organised the British Biology Olympiad competition, served as the curriculum leader for GCSE science, and acted as a personal tutor, providing support to students.
Examination Board Experience:
Throughout my 25 years of teaching, I have taught the specifications of all UK exam boards, including WJEC and Eduqas. As a result, I have a comprehensive understanding of the requirements necessary to prepare students for their exams.
Moreover, I have worked as an examiner for the WJEC, Eduqas, and Edexcel exam boards. This experience as an examiner has equipped me with valuable skills and strategies in exam techniques, which I utilise with all my students to help them achieve high marks.
Research and Laboratory Experience:
A-Level Biology encompasses a significant practical component. I possess extensive experience in experimental biology, having worked as a microbiologist, an industrial chemist, and a research scientist.
Continual Professional Development (CPD):
I am a member of the Royal Society of Biology, Chartered College of Teaching and the Tutors' Association. These affiliations enable me to stay informed about the latest developments in education and biology.
Tutoring Approach:
Teachers and tutors may seem unnecessary nowadays because of Google and AI. The most valuable thing a teacher can do for their students is to teach them thinking skills. Students must analyse the information in questions to achieve high grades in A-Level Biology exams. It's not just about memorising facts like what Google and AI can provide; it's about understanding the underlying concepts. This, and other areas, is where I can offer my professional assistance.
To provide effective help, I customise my approach for each student. I communicate with students and their parents to identify the areas that need attention and create an initial plan for improvement. These plans are regularly reviewed to ensure they continue to address the student's specific needs. I monitor students' progress using questions, tests, and activities, making adjustments as necessary to keep them on track. I keep parents up to date with their son/daughter's progress.
Now, let's explore some of my other techniques and their importance.
Simplifying Biological Concepts:
Breaking down complex biological concepts into simpler parts makes them more accessible for students. This accessibility enables students to establish meaningful connections between what they have learned and what they are currently studying. These patterns help them link ideas from the entire syllabus, giving them the confidence to tackle extended answers, such as the 25-mark questions in the AQA or the 9-mark QER questions with the WJEC/Eduqas.
Active Learning and Feedback:
I adopt a holistic tutoring approach, focusing on active learning strategies combined with feedback. These strategies include: retrieval practice, puzzles, quizzes, spaced repetition, Socratic questioning, and CRIME (chunking, rehearsal, imagery, mnemonics, and elaboration).
Understanding Scientific Language:
Learning biology is akin to acquiring a new language. Throughout the A-Level Biology course, students encounter numerous scientific terms they must understand early on. To facilitate this, I teach students comprehension strategies and the meanings of biological terminology, allowing them to develop a deep understanding of biology and apply it effectively.
Exam Technique:
Mastering exam techniques is another crucial aspect to cover. Helping students comprehend exam questions and analyse data significantly improves their grades and confidence. This skill is vital for writing precise answers needed at A-Level. It can be challenging for students to develop this level of precision, often causing frustration. Therefore, I employ various activities to guide students in honing this critical ability.
Consistent Study Habits:
I emphasise the importance of consistency in studying to all my students. Even with ample assistance, improvement can be limited without personal dedication and regularity in studying biology. Transitioning from GCSE to A-Level Biology can be overwhelming for students due to the abundance of new concepts, words, and facts. This transition is often referred to as the "big step up." Students may feel confused, frustrated, and disappointed when progress seems lacking or test results are unsatisfactory.
I teach my students that progress occurs incrementally through consistent effort and active learning strategies. With my guidance, their efforts will compound, leading to rapid advancement. This approach makes the learning process more enjoyable and less stressful. I focus on establishing solid foundations, good study habits, and providing support.
Embracing Failure and Mistakes:
My understanding of the struggle and the value of failure sets me apart as a tutor. Although failure can be discouraging, it is crucial for making improvements. With my guidance, I help students turn failures and mistakes into valuable learning experiences.
Ensuring accessibility to biology with all its complexities is paramount to me. My experience as an examiner and teacher and my diverse science background qualify me to provide the highest quality tuition. Creating a warm and friendly atmosphere in my lessons is essential to fostering an environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, explore, and embrace their curiosity.
Learning should never be dull; instead, it should be an exciting journey of discovery and growth. To ensure success in A-Level biology, I infuse my teaching with engaging activities, relatable examples, and stories that captivate students' interest.
