I hold a Physics Degree from Oxford University and am now a commercial airline pilot. I have extensive experience tutoring over the past fifteen years and also spent three years teaching future airline pilots for their ground school exams.

I tutor Maths (including Further Maths) and Physics at A-Level and below. I feel that Maths and Science should be fun and enjoyable to learn - and feel that if they are taught in the right way this can be easy to achieve.

Teaching Experience:
I started tutoring when I left Oxford University and have a very successful record with my past students. My last student enjoyed her GCSE tutoring so much that she went on to choose both maths and physics at A-level.

I also spent three years teaching young adults to prepare them for the examinations required for Airline pilots. My subjects were Meteorology and General Navigation - science and maths based subjects.

Whilst at University I completed a "teaching physics in schools" module and spent time as a science teaching assistant in a local Oxfordshire school.

I feel it is very important for learning to be interesting and enjoyable. I use my passion for Science and Maths to pass this enjoyment on to my students. Every student is an individual and therefore has a teaching method to suit them. My experience as an examiner since 2014 enables me to guide students on how to maximise their performance in exams. I work with my students through mark schemes, helping them to interpret them, and revise independently.

Great part of my success helping students is due to using a spiral teaching approach which consists of three layers:

First layer: Fulfil your potential.
I train and equip my students with tools and strategies designed to help them work on a given topic in an independent manner. My tutoring model does not make the student be dependent on me, rather the opposite.

Second layer: Support and stretch.
Together with the student, I identify strengths and areas for improvements. This makes lessons focussed and productive. I then guide my students to move on to the next level in their learning journey, stretching them whilst keeping learning achievable.

Third layer: Review, review, review
By unleashing my students' potential and providing them with tailored support we manage to cover the syllabus earlier than they would normally do in their school or sixth form college.
This allows us to revisit topics, which has a huge impact on gaining long term knowledge retention as well as depth of understanding. Students who have followed this plan feel ready and confident in the days previous to the exam.

As to tuition arrangements:

Firstly, we will discuss your goals and any areas where you particularly want to improve. We will plan the first lesson and I will inform you about some simple resources to be ready to start. We normally set up some homework to be submitted before the first lesson but this depends on the student's needs.

Subsequently I will enrol you into an online classroom designed for uploading resources, submitting homework and receiving specific feedback on it. The next step is our first lesson, where you will have a very active role and get practice, tips and continuous feedback. Following I will set you targeted homework to cement your knowledge. If after the first lesson you are not fully satisfied, you will get all the lesson fee back.

I follow the spiral learning approach and aim to review topics with my students several times to enhance their depth and long term retention of knowledge.

In addition to be keen on developing students' academic skills, I equally work on improving their attitudes towards learning, e.g. I train them to accept mistakes with a positive mindset, and use them as highly valuable learning experience in their journey. These attitudes towards learning play a vital role in helping students enjoy the subject and perform at their best.

I studied Economics at Cambridge University and then went on to play rugby to an International level and also coach at the same level. I am now married with 2 children and love helping people achieve their potential.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught A-Level Economics for the last 2 years at a non-selective private school. Last year, 1/4 of my students achieved 100 UMS at A2 and 1/3 achieved an A*. One student had achieved a D at AS and finished with an A* with a UMS average of 95. Tutoring Approach:
Every new batch of tuition starts with getting to know more about the students. It is at the same time important to give the students enough space to familiarise themselves with me. A discussion will then follow to scope down what will be covered in the syllabus. A work plan is also devised with the aim to complete the syllabus well before the examinations, so as to have adequate time for revision. The following steps outline the process of each tuition session:
1. Initiate the subject or topic based on discussion of a real life example / scenario
2. Introduce the theoretical part of the subject or topic
3. Explain how the theory links to the real life example / scenario
4. Work out and explain some examples
5. Immediate evaluation of student's understanding through questions and answers
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until satisfactory response of the student (steps 1, 2 and 3 may also be repeated if required)
7. Give homework and a brief discussion on what will be covered in the next tuition session

Note: Each tuition session starts with the correction of the previous session's homework and explanation of any problem areas, including a summing up of what was covered in the previous tuition session.

I first began to take interest in education in late 2016 during my second year of studies at Falmouth University, after undertaking 'skills for music leaders' module, where I studied different approaches to formal and non-formal music education. In September 2017, I have taken my ambitions to teach guitar further and fully dedicated my third year of studies to learn about ethics in music education, and began work experience with Cornwall Music Service Trust. I have shadowed 3 guitar teachers as well as 1 violin teacher and learned how to work with children aged between 6-16. I have actively engaged during the lessons, and helped as much as it was possible. I observed their teaching style and studied how to apply it into my own practice, gaining very good references

I have completed 'skills for music leaders' during my second year studies and dedicated the rest of my time researching ethics and practical teaching strategies in music education. I have completed a year of work experience with Cornwall music service trust shadowing their teachers and learning their teaching styles. Prior to my work as a tutor I worked as a science technician for three years in various schools and colleges in London. And prior to that I worked for three years as a research and teaching assistant at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
I graduated from Queen`s University Belfast in 2010 with a 1st MSci in Physics with Astrophysics.

Teaching Experience:
I offer tuition in Maths (including mechanics and statistics), Physics, Chemistry and Biology. I offer in-person lessons in the Glasgow area, and online lessons for students further afield.

I'm based in Scotland so the majority of my students are Nat 5, Higher, or Advanced Higher. However, I also have experience tutoring in the GCSE/A-Level system used in the rest of the UK.

I also work as a freelance copyeditor and proofreader, often helping writers for whom English is a foreign language. I am studying Aerospace Engineering and will be starting year 2 in September at the University of Sheffield, having averaged a 2:1 this year. I also completed a foundation year at the University of Sheffield in Science and Engineering with 92% in my further maths module and 90% in my maths module. I received A*'s in Mathematics, Numeracy and Physics, along with a Distinction in Additional Mathematics in 2017 for my GCSE's (Cowbridge Comprehensive School) and then an A in Mathematics, a B in Further Mathematics and a C in Physics in my Alevels in 2019 (Howell's School Llandaff).

During year 12 and 13 I did mathematics with year 7's and 8's on a Friday morning during form time. We did maths challenges and quick maths problems. I was also a mathematics prefect during year 13, one of my roles was to help run and support other students during maths 'drop in' during lunch times twice a week, where years 7-13 could go for help with any maths they were doing in class, I usually helped years 7-10 and occasionally year 11.

This online lesson can be used to help with GCSE or below maths and numeracy. I can also help with additional mathematics (also called further mathematics with different exam boards) at GCSE level. I am happy to help with any level whether you are expecting to sit higher tier, intermediate or foundation tier.

I have a wealth of experience in GCSE and A level Art and Portfolio preparation. In my 6 year role as Deputy Head of House, I worked in pastoral care and with those with SEN. I taught advanced life drawing classes at Ericaceous Art School in Dorking, worked for a special royal family, and also for Toyota, UK. Teaching Art is my true passion which I've honed and strengthened for over 20yrs. I`m as dedicated now as ever in sharing Art skills with creative learners.

I founded my art company in 2017 in Reigate. Over a few years I grew our community of like minded Art tutors and students coming together to share our Art passion. Outgrowing our first studio, Covid lockdowns created an opportunity to move to a beautiful studio space. We developed and diversified our Art tuition offering. I paint regularly in my home Art Studio in Reigate; Art is a life time journey for me.

Mother: My daughters are teenagers now and it`s a privilege to have two girls with whom to share each and every day. Motherhood is an amazing experience which opened up my understanding of people and strengthened my teaching and learning methods. My gratitude and appreciation found new heights through my children. I am a graduate in Physics from University College London (UCL) and am currently pursuing a Master's degree in Clinical Science (Medical Physics) at King's College London (KCL) as part of the Scientist Training Programme. Tutored online for 4 years and tutored with Explore Learning for 1 year in person and online both. I tutored GCSE to a level maths and Physics.

Tutoring Approach:
Initial lesson for mathematics involves an assessment - this can be through a past exam paper. This allows me to determine what level the student is working at currently and also what topics need to be focused on more than others. From this I pick a topic to base the next lesson on. The lesson compromises of exam questions and taught material.

For physics I ask the student which exam board they are studying and which topic to focus on for the first session. I then plan a lesson on the topic by doing a question-answer session (It will be like recapping then topic with the student through questions used to prompt their memory). Normally questions are in flash card form. Then for the second half of the session I do exam questions from the exam board the student told me. These are topic based so each lesson will have questions focused on what was covered on the day. I send the notes from the lessons to the student as pdf files too. I write reports after I complete a lesson so parents know what the lesson covered and what to expect for upcoming sessions too. The more fluent a student becomes in answering questions- that shows progress is being made.
