I specialise slightly more in Spanish but teach both Spanish and French to GCSE, IGCSE, A-level and Pre-U and IB. I work as an examiner for IGCSE, Pre-U and the IB, and have a good deal of exerience in preparation for Oxbridge applications and Common Entrance exams. I am usually very flexible during the school holidays, but am also able to schedule lessons for evenings and weekends during term time.
I can drive to you, but have to charge some travel costs. I am equally happy to work online.
Teaching Experience:
20 years teaching in the UK, almost entirely in the independent system with years working in boarding schools, as well as experience in a British international school. I am currently teaching at a London girls day school.

Teaching Experience:
As a secondary school science teacher with over 10 years of tutoring experience and my own tutoring business, I tailor my lessons to everyone of students specifically. I approach teaching with a relaxed attitude where the student can really make the most out of every session without feeling bored or uncomfortable. I keep the sessions as interactive as possible and my teaching styles can be changed to suit every learning style!

I tailor every single lesson to every single individual I teach. My forte is teaching students without stressing, boring or tiring them. I first became interested in teaching through working as a private tutor with GCSE students, something I am doing since I finished my graduation, training to become a leader in the process. This made me realise I enjoyed working with the people in their learning process, and college experience confirmed tutoring/teaching as a career choice. My subsequent one year PGCE has served further to fire my enthusiasm and prepared me effectively to take responsibility for learners.
I have completed PGCE , a Masters and a BSc in Economics, level 5 Mathematics in Mechanics, numeracy level 1 & 2, Diploma in Computer Science & Application and I am a Certified Internet Webmaster Associate.
Teaching Experience:
I am teaching for last 5 years. In addition, I worked as a Teaching Assistant over two years.I have been privately tutoring primary and secondary maths, A level maths and Economics on one-to-one basis since 2003. My academic education and teaching practices have given me a good understanding of the curriculum and of what makes effective teaching.
Tutoring Approach:
I make a conscious effort to ensure I am not just catering for visual learners like myself, but try to see lessons through other learners' eyes. For example, to introduce pictograms to numeracy entry level class, I got the learners to create 'human pictograms' arranged by name length, pets, eye colour, etc. and then transferred that information as pictograms to the board. Kinaesthetic learners were thereby catered for in the physical movement and manipulation, visual learners in the pictograms created on the board and audio learners as we discussed and interpreted the graphs.
I have in particular come to understand the value of sharing learning objectives and success criteria with students. Knowing exactly what is expected and how they can achieve allow learners to focus more clearly on tasks.
I feel it is important to make learning interesting and creative, and one way to achieve this is using real life example; this allows learners to explore and understand situations and express feelings, thoughts and emotions. An example of how I have successfully used real life situation was with a GCSE class, working out the area of the classroom to decide the correct amount of carpet needed for the classroom. I gave the students measuring tape to measure the length and width of the classroom. They were incredibly enthusiastic and threw themselves into the task. They found this a fun, enjoyable and worthwhile learning experience, which enabled them to better understand the situation and empathise with those concerned.

My teaching method for is based on tasks and the PPP paradigm (presenting a subject, practicing by repetition, matching or filling and producing in the context of a particular task). This approach allows the students to learn by practicing in their real communication situations and to progress in a very short time!
The type of materials I use are generally design by myself, using authentic documents as reports, conversation recordings, emails, hand outs and I also use general linguistics and grammar manuals and essays to support my research

I have a PhD in Physics and BSc Maths/Physics Jt Honours 1st Class. I am a co-author of over 60 peer reviewed papers in science journals and was a research scientist for 27 years in the world renowned Daresbury Laboratory of the Science and Technology Facilities Council which helps keep the UK at the forefront of international science and technology. I ran the operations of a world class X-ray photoelectron spectrometer for a wide range of applications in physics, chemistry, biology and material science.
I am a qualified martial arts instructor and teach the Chinese Wing Chun system. I believe sports can contribute towards an all round education and under proper supervision, martial arts can offer health benefits and is beneficial for mental and physical discipline. I am also interested in the promotion of the Chinese language because I am of Chinese origin and can speak Cantonese and Mandarin fluently. I teach vocal styles, including Jazz, Pop, R'n'B, Soul, Funk, and Folk. My teaching method is a step-by-step approach, starting with the basics of the musical score; it is also structured, student-centred, and outcome-oriented, focusing on achieving musical ambitions and cultivating creativity and self-expression while ensuring a disciplined and productive learning experience. Lessons are tailored to students' needs and adapted to their pace, learning style, and proficiency level by integrating proven techniques, including Accent, Estill, and Alexander, in my teaching methodology.
A standard session with me encompasses the following:

Personal Description:
I have worked as a full-time self-employed mathematics tutor since 2012 providing one-to-one home tuition for hundreds of students of GCSE and IGCSE Mathematics, A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics, Sixth Term Examination Papers (STEP), and Mathematics Admissions Tests (MAT). I also provide help and support for adult and return-learners of mathematics.
I am very passionate about mathematics; I continue to develop my own knowledge and understanding of the subject so that I can be the best tutor that I can be for every one of the students that I tutor. I am particularly interested in the history and philosophy of mathematics as well as language learning and linguistics. I aim to pass on my enthusiasm for mathematics to those that I provide tuition for and to help all of my students achieve their true potential.
Teaching Experience:
I have thousands of hours of experience providing tuition for hundreds of students of mathematics and further mathematics for GCSE (including IGCSE), A-Level and Undergraduate Level. I have first-hand experience of providing tuition for Sixth Term Examination Papers (STEP), Advanced Extension Award in Mathematics (AEA) and Mathematics Admissions Tests (MAT). I have experience with tutoring for various exam boards including Edexcel, AQA, OCR and MEI.
I am pleased to have provided support for many students who have gone on to further study in Mathematics, Philosophy, Computer Science and other subjects at high-ranking universities including Oxford, Leeds, Warwick and Bath.
Tutoring Approach:
I am very flexible with my approach and pay close attention to the specific needs of each of the students with whom I work. I am able to explain concepts in detail, going beyond the strict requirements of the syllabus or specification where this is required and appropriate.
I am very patient and will take the time to carefully explain concepts and work at a pace that the students is comfortable with. I am always happy to provide clarification or to explain things in several ways to give different perspectives.
