I am 69 years old and retired from full time teaching in August 2014 after a teaching career of some 23 years. Since retiring I have done some part time teaching and private tuition. During the course of the last three years I have tutored some 30 students and have many written testimonials from parents regarding my tuition, you are welcome to contact current students to check the progress their child has made with my help. Every new batch of tuition starts with getting to know more about the students. It is at the same time important to give the students enough space to familiarise themselves with me. A work plan is also devised with the aim to complete the syllabus well before the examinations, so as to have adequate time for revision. The following steps outline the process of each tuition session:

My approach is problem-based and diagnostic. This means that the student is actively engaged in solving problems for almost the entire lesson whilst I am responding to their answers by asking questions which reveal any underlying misconceptions.
