About Me
I grew up in South Wales as part of a large musical family.
I started playing piano and studying singing at the age
of 8, where I first studied Piano with Joyce Powell and the very talented Rowena Oakey, and 's Newport. I am also a skilled marching band percussionist,
having played all the instruments in this family.
From Head Chorister at St. John's Church, Maindee, and Bandmaster of the Borough of Newport Pipes & Drums, I conducted the Massed Male Choirs at the National Eisteddfod in Newport in 1987 at the age of only 21.
I am a former trombonist of the Band of the 3 BattalionRoyal Regiment of Wales, and former conductor of other male choirs including Newport (Gwent) and Snowdown (Kent).
I also studied singing at many RSCM courses. I have performed in a variety of venues including Bath Abbey, the Royal Albert Hall, Westminster Cathedral, Cardiff Castle, Dover Castle, Plymouth Hoe, the NEC and Wembley.
I really enjoy performing, conducting and teaching - all three skills I use to the pupil's advantage.
In 2001, I formed what is now the very successful Wessex Male Choir, whom have since won many competitions on the International stage, and which is still growing in size (now 60 choristers strong!), musical ability and popularity. See our website
In 2005, TV & Radio Presenter and singing star Aled Jones, became the choir's patron.
I have arranged lots of music for Male Choirs and some solely for Wessex.
I feel humble that my passion for choral music has enabled me to be entrusted not only with continuing the fine tradition of Male choirs, but preserving and developing it for generations to come.About Me
I look forward to hearing from you.

Personal Description:
I'm an experienced stage and television actor with a degree in English (2.i) from Trinity Hall, Cambridge and a 2-year post-grad qualification from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. I live in central London (Westminster) and enjoy balancing out the right brain activities of acting with the rather more left brain activities of teaching - especially Latin, which I studied through A-Level to degree, taking a Latin translation and literary criticism paper in Part 1 of my Cambridge Tripos.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught both privately and at a range of different schools and colleges for many years. My private client base has principally been in teaching Latin for Common Entrance and GCSE. In terms of classroom experience, I have worked as a supply Latin teacher at Eaton House Schools and as an A-Level English Tutor at Collingham Tutors. The majority of my work is as a private tutor travelling to people's homes and offering additional support to 10-16 year olds who are struggling with their Latin. I have a huge success rate in terms of results, regularly turning C-grade students into A-graders.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach is both pragmatic and personal. Every child is different and therefore every child requires a subtly different approach. In terms of teaching English Literature my principle objective is to inspire. In terms of teaching Latin my key concerns are rigour and attention to detail. With the right approach it is often very easy to turn a child who hates Latin at school into one that (even if it is secretly) both loves it and does very well.

Personal Description:
A recent University of Leeds graduate with a 2:1 class BSc (Hons) in Economics and Mathematics (Industrial) who is currently teaching in a secondary school in Birmingham. I am a passionate individual who strives to inspire younger generations to accomplish their full mathematical potential and to actually enjoy the subject. Throughout university, I undertook a wide range of mathematics modules to enhance my understanding of the subject I have an enormous passion for. I have held many positions of responsibility, including being a STEMnet ambassador, an Aston University mentor, a Punjabi school assistant teacher, a voluntary English teacher in South Africa, a course representative, the Bhangra society treasurer, the Sikh society interfaith representative and others.
Teaching Experience:
I have a years experience as a Maths teacher within a secondary school in Birmingham. This involved teaching a variety of Maths classes, of different sizes, abilities and age ranges from 11-16 as well as being a form tutor. I have had experience of tutoring an A-Level student, a year 9 student and a GCSE student. In eight short weeks I was able to help this student achieve the desired A-grade she had hoped for, improving by a massive two grades. The huge feeling of pride and satisfaction from this sparked a passion for teaching mathematics. I have also completed the Teach First Insight Programme. The final week of this scheme involved teaching in Nene Park Academy in Peterborough and I was able to give a year 9 class a mathematics lesson.
Tutoring Approach:
Clear explanations, listening to the students, plenty of practice with live marking and most importantly, patience.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced tutor specialising in maths, science and entrance exam tuition. For over 10 years I have helped my students achieve their goals. Whether it's pushing for the top grades for your university course or getting that all important GCSE pass to access your dream college course, I will equip you with the knowledge and techniques you need to succeed.
I know what it takes to get the top grades, having achieved a clean sweep of A*s at GCSE myself. I continued my education journey studying Maths, Biology and Chemistry A level at The Blue Coat School Liverpool, before graduating from the University of York with a BSc (Hons) Chemistry.
Fast forwarding to today, I am a leader in education policy with a deep and broad understanding of the UK education system. But just as important as my "day job", I am fortunate to still do what I love - helping students achieve their goals through my one to one and group tuition sessions.
Teaching Experience:
I began tutoring over 10 years ago, initially focussing on 11+ entrance exam tuition, but later diversifying to cover GCSE maths and science, and then A level Maths, Biology and Chemistry Tuition.
I have helped many primary school students pass entrance exams to get into the top grammar and private schools in the country, and in many cases continued to support their Maths and English development to help them get ready for secondary school.
For secondary school students, I have provided support to students across each of the key stages, each with different goals. In the earlier years, I have coached my students across maths and science to make sure they are on top of the course content. The difference made by offering a recap to content covered in school is really quite astounding, with my younger students excelling in end of topic tests and avoiding the dreaded homework struggles for that topic they just didn't quite grasp the first time.
At GCSE, I have supported my students both in getting across the pass line, and pushing students sitting on a Grade 7 in class to a Grade 9 come GCSE results day. In all cases, I am experienced in identifying areas of weakness, making sure my students have the fundamentals to understand the topic, before drilling exam questions and considering from all different angles.
Nothing is more rewarding than coaching my A level students to get the grades for the course of their dreams. I have been fortunate enough to help many students on their journey, with former students reaching the grades they need to study courses including medicine, veterinary science, biology, chemistry and biochemistry.
Tutoring Approach:
It's all about the foundations. When students start lessons with me, I find even the brightest students almost always have gaps in basic knowledge. Often these are not picked up at school, masked by exam technique or being good at past papers. However, when the real exam comes round, only a mastery of the foundations of each topic will allow students to access the highest-grade questions.
In our first lesson together, we will speak through your goals - is it getting into a grammar school? Passing your GCSE Maths? Getting an A in Chemistry A level? Whatever the goal, I will then talk you through what is needed to get there. And to be upfront, that will mean work outside lessons as well which I will help guide you through. We will then speak through your progress so far - recent test scores, topics you're struggling with, revision habits - and I will use this to build up your bespoke programme for our lessons.
In our lessons I will then focus on mending the foundations of each topic. This is achieved through a combination of explanations, focussed practice and past exam questions. Before we move on to a new topic, my students should be able to explain the concept back to me in detail, ensuring all the needed content is covered.
When explaining a topic, I will ask LOTS of questions to make sure learning is active throughout. For example:
A proton has a positive charge, neutron neutral charge, and electron negative charge. Now tell me what charge a proton has.
This type of questioning is critical and is really the difference between learning in lessons at school compared to one to one or small group tuition. Making sure my students have a comprehensive understanding of each topic is critical to success.

My tutoring approach is student-centered, practical, and supportive. I believe that effective learning happens when theory is connected to real-world application-especially in a field as hands-on as performance analysis.
I take time to understand each student's learning style, goals, and challenges. Whether you're new to performance metrics or preparing for advanced assessments, I tailor each session to meet your specific needs. I break down complex topics like match coding, statistical analysis, and software use (e.g., Statsbomb, Hudl, Sportscode) into clear, manageable concepts.
I also emphasise critical thinking and problem-solving, helping students move beyond memorisation to truly understand the "why" behind the data. My sessions often include interactive examples, video breakdowns, and scenario-based learning to ensure concepts stick and can be applied in real sporting environments.
Above all, I aim to build confidence-supporting students not just to pass their courses, but to thrive in academic and professional sport science settings.
