I am currently teaching at one of the top independent schools for girls in Berkshire. I hold a PhD in chemistry, which gives me sound knowledge of the subject and I have completed my teacher training at the University of Cambridge.

I do not have a unique approach. All students are different and they have all different needs. I try building a relationship of trust and listen to what their needs are. Very often is the case that they lack confidence and they just need some reassurance. Chemistry is a challenging subject but most students can do very well provided they have self belief and are willing to work hard.

I am an experienced secondary science teacher and physics specialist with a number of years experience as a classroom teacher and private tutor. I have a Physics degree from Imperial College London, a Masters degree in Science communication from UWE Bristol and qualified as a teacher with the University of Bedfordshire. Teaching Experience:
I have been tutoring around the West Midlands for over 5 years, Manchester for 2 years, and currently due to COVID, I've been teaching online for another year. This I believe will improve retention, help pupils understand concepts better, and also allow them to remember test questions better - It really does work!

Where parents request extra work, I can provide monthly progress sheets, homework tasks, and an extensive list of past papers. Tutoring Approach:
I make a conscious effort to ensure I am not just catering for visual learners like myself, but try to see lessons through other learners' eyes. For example, to introduce pictograms to numeracy entry level class, I got the learners to create 'human pictograms' arranged by name length, pets, eye colour, etc. and then transferred that information as pictograms to the board. Kinaesthetic learners were thereby catered for in the physical movement and manipulation, visual learners in the pictograms created on the board and audio learners as we discussed and interpreted the graphs.

I have in particular come to understand the value of sharing learning objectives and success criteria with students. Knowing exactly what is expected and how they can achieve allow learners to focus more clearly on tasks.

I feel it is important to make learning interesting and creative, and one way to achieve this is using real life example; this allows learners to explore and understand situations and express feelings, thoughts and emotions. An example of how I have successfully used real life situation was with a GCSE class, working out the area of the classroom to decide the correct amount of carpet needed for the classroom. I gave the students measuring tape to measure the length and width of the classroom. They were incredibly enthusiastic and threw themselves into the task. They found this a fun, enjoyable and worthwhile learning experience, which enabled them to better understand the situation and empathise with those concerned.

I am a co-author of over 60 peer reviewed papers in science journals and was a research scientist for 27 years in the world renowned Daresbury Laboratory of the Science and Technology Facilities Council which helps keep the UK at the forefront of international science and technology. I ran the operations of a world class X-ray photoelectron spectrometer for a wide range of applications in physics, chemistry, biology and material science.
I am a qualified martial arts instructor and teach the Chinese Wing Chun system. I believe sports can contribute towards an all round education and under proper supervision, martial arts can offer health benefits and is beneficial for mental and physical discipline. I am also interested in the promotion of the Chinese language because I am of Chinese origin and can speak Cantonese and Mandarin fluently. I also enjoy salsa dancing, music, fell walking, yoga and travel.

I am a well qualified Medical Doctor, Registered with the General Medical Council UK, for over 40 years and had extensive experience in Clinical Medicine. I practiced Anaesthesiology in the UK for over 20 years(in NHS and Private Medicine) and 20 years in Hongkong and India.
I am a British Citizen. I have retired from clinical medical practice but still registered with the GMC, UK.
I can teach the basic medical sciences viz. Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology and to some extent clinical internal medicine and surgery.
My son is studying in a UK University doing undergraduate studies in Bussines Management.

During my working in the NHS as Middle Grade, Registrar, Senior Registrar, and Consultant level in the NHS I had Medical Undergraduates and Trainee Anaesthetists for teaching and training them in the Clinical field. I am an active person interested in sports, particularly cycling. I love literature. My favourite writer is Haruki Murakami. I am fond of technology and computers.

I have been teaching English, including Advanced level and English for specific purposes, for 29 years. I have Cambridge Advanced and Proficiency in English certificates as well as CELTA (grade B). A lot of my students successfully passed Cambridge First Certificate in English, Cambridge Advanced English and IELTS. I am a fully qualified Health and Social Care teacher who loves teaching. I am currently taking a couple of years away from teaching full time to home educate one of my children so I now have the opportunity to tutor more. I have industry experience having worked in A and E, Maternity, acute care and elderly care wards. I have studied both Biological and Biomedical Sciences at Brighton University and also have level 4 in careers advice and guidance. I have 2 children, 2 cats a dog and a house rabbit.
