I am a graduate from the University of Sunderland - BSc hons Information Technology and Education - 2:1. I have been teaching for twenty successful years. I'm Head of Mathematics teaching GCSE Mathematics and GCSE ICT at a school in Northumberland. I have excellent experience teaching GCSE Maths, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher and Access. My personal teaching philosophy is to ensure each tutee achieves his/her best with my support. This is achieved by developing strategies to meet their needs, so that they are able to enjoy each lesson and achieve their full potential. I also gained a Master of Education from the University of Newcastle in 2006. I am married and have seven year old twin girls.

I have taught GCSE ICT and iMedia in secondary schools for the past twenty years and GCSE Mathematics for 10 years. In our recent Ofsted I was graded Good with Outstanding elements in my Mathematics lesson. I have an outstanding success record at grade C and above in Maths & ICT. I plan and prepare my lessons to the need of the individual and re-enforce any uncertainty until the appropriate targets/level have been met.

I have a PhD in chemistry from a university in the United States. Personally I'm friendly and supportive and easy to get along with.

Teaching Experience:
I have been working as a private tutor for more than 15 years and during that time I have helped hundreds of students. Many of my students have gone on to study Medicine, Dentistry or other subjects at top universities in this country and abroad. I'm familiar with all of the different exam boards (AQA, OCR, EdExcel, IB, CIE).
Before becoming a tutor I had almost 18 years experience of teaching chemistry and biochemistry at university level.

Every student is unique. It is vital for students to have confidence in their ability. I studied English Literature at Edinburgh University, graduating with a First Class Masters in 1999, before going on to train as an actor at the prestigious London Academy of Dramatic Art (LAMDA) in 2001. Since graduating, I have worked extensively as an actor in theatre, television and radio and since 2007 I have worked very closely with acclaimed theatre company The Factory as an associate producer and director as well as an actor. I have a wide-ranging interest in the arts (from contemporary music through to cinema and the visual arts) as well as an active interest in politics and current affairs. I have worked as a free-lance tutor since 2005 and love not only the obvious flexibility it affords but, far more importantly, the mental, creative and social stimulation it provides both me and, hopefully, those I teach.

In 2005 I registered with a private agency and taught English Literature as a freelance tutor at GCSE level for them that year.
I have wide and extensive experience teaching and creating drama with young people: I have worked on schools and youth projects with Shakespeare's Globe, the National Student Drama Festival and the Carney Academy of Performing Arts as well providing private tuition for drama school entrance and audition technique.
I occasionally work for the University of Westminster as a free-lance actor, working closely with director and academic Helen Eastman.

Tutoring Approach:
I passionately believe that education needs to be grounded in passing on, developing and deepening the love of a subject and that, as such, learning shouldn't be results led. I also believe that people are different and that an approach to tutoring and education should reflect that.

As such I aim to keep engagement and enjoyment at the centre of the process. I encourage pupils to engage with their subject through lateral and creative thinking in the belief that good results follow when a student can enter into a dialogue with the work they are being asked to do and not the other way round.

After finishing my A level in Weymouth, Dorset, I then went to Essex University in Colchester to study Science. Ater getting my first degree, I then decided to do a masters Degree in Chemistry and passed. In my University days, I have always loved Maths and Science and in my first year at University, I did Physics, Chemistry and Maths. I have a very high understanding of Maths because of my passion for Maths and I have solve several problems in Maths, Physics and Chemistry up to A level. I am very passionate about numbers and anything that has numbers in it, I will solve. My chemical knowledge is absolutely unbelievable. I have been taeching Chemistry and Maths longer than A level Physics but I teach A level Physics in my current School. I actually started teaching as soon as I left University in 1993. In those days, I did not have teaching qualification. I then decided to get some experience outside education. After gaining experience in Industries, I decided to get back into teaching and took my teaching qualification. I am now a fully qualified teacher and then started teaching again in September 2007. My strength in teaching has always been on a one to one basis. I do teach in a Grammar School at the moment but I always prefer to teach on a one to one basis because I enjoy helping individual student's as each student's requirement is different and you can't properly help individual student's in a class of 30 students. I am very passionate about teaching and devote a lot of my time teaching.

My tutoring style is quite unique. Being a school teacher myself, I now understand why it is so difficult for students to understand the subjects that I teach. I do not believe in pressurising students to learn. I prefer a much more relaxed atmosphere whereby the students needs and requirement is the absolute paramount. Style of teaching is also important and how you come across to the students is also very important. Investing into new ways and new ideas in order to aid students understanding is also very important. When you come to me for tutoring, I will not move unto another topic until I am fully satisfied that you have understood the topic that we are doing at the moment and that you can answer questions on those topics that we have done comfortable and confidently.

Having completed my first degree in French and German at Oxford University in June 2013, I returned to Belfast to complete first a MA in Medieval History, and then a further MA in Translation Studies.

At the same time, I began building up a portfolio career as a freelance tutor and translator, allowing me to live out my passion for language, literature, and culture (alongside digger manuals, pharmaceutical texts, and other oddities) on a daily basis.

Teaching Experience:
My teaching experience dates back to my undergraduate years. At Oxford I gained two years' experience with Jacari, a charity that teaches English to local children of a different mother tongue. I also provided tuition to students of GCSE history in local Oxford schools.

I spent my year abroad teaching English to pupils aged 10 to 19 at a German grammar school, and have since instructed a number of tutees of ages 8 to 65+ in English Language, French, German and Italian.

I can also provide help with Oxbridge entrance examination and interview preparations for languages, English, and history, as well as general advice for personal statements.

This variety of experience has taught me the importance of varying my teaching approach according to the needs and interests of the pupil.

While I keep a keen eye on the intended curriculum or goals at all times, I am used and open to changing from more formal to more informal (i.e. games-based) tutoring methods as appropriate.

I am 54 years old and I have been a self employed tutor for over five years. I live in Nelson and always travel to the homes of my students. I have taught students from 8 years of age to adults and all ages in between. I love tutoring my students, because it is teaching in its purest sense without all the pressures of teaching in school.

I have been teaching since 1989. I have taught in local secondary schools, including more than 10 years in a school in Burnley. I have worked in primary schools on a supply basis. I have a great deal of experience in teaching pupils and students with educational issues, pupils with statements of SEN, both behavioural and educational. I have a proven record of boosting grades at both GCSE and Key Stage 2 SATS. More recently I have tutored and mentored pupils studying for their 11 plus exams particularly for Clitheroe Grammar School.

Tutoring Approach:
When tutoring my students, it is crucial to establish a relationship with not only the student but the rest of the family. This helps establish a relaxed, and workmanlike atmosphere quickly so that progress can be made quickly. I spend the first few lessons establishing specific areas that need attention within the subject/s I am teaching. I am very well resourced with both text books and worksheets specifically designed for each student. I am well prepared for the new GCSE Maths syllabus and provide text books for pupils taking the 11+. I set homework by negotiation, and try to mark it before the next lesson, distance and time constraints allowing. Where possible I try to liaise with my student's teachers in school, but this can prove difficult.

I studied Korean studies at the University of Sheffield and lived in Korea for one year. I am half Greek and half British (Welsh) and am fluent in both languages and very advanced in Korean language. Since completing my degree, earning a First in Linguistics and Spanish from St. Catherine's College, Oxford, tutoring has become the mainstay of my work. I regularly attend Oxbridge admissions-focussed events for both schools and the general public, as an experienced mock interviewer, seminar leader, and test coach. My speciality is Spanish, though I always hope for aspiring Linguistics students! Outside of tutoring, I enjoy hiking, cooking, and snooker (even though I'm hopeless at it).

My name Is Emma and I am 29 years old.
When I was 8 years old, I moved to Corfu, Greece without any knowledge of the language. I quickly learnt the language whilst attending a Greek school.
I came back to the UK to do my GCSE's in which I paid extra to do a Greek GCSE and I gained an A in this.

Teaching Experience:
I have no teaching experience however I am an easy going, confident and caring person who can go at your own pace and teach you things that you would like to know.

Tutoring Approach:
The first session I would engage with you to find out a bit about yourself and what you would like to achieve in our lessons. I would then create lessons and create you some homework.
