Personal Description:
I was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain, and moved to Yorkshire 20 year ago.

I speak 4 languages and being over here has given me the opportunity to teach my mother tongue, which I thoroughly enjoy!

Teaching Experience:
I have always taught languages - both in Spain and in England. I have had students from a wide spectrum - from 5-year-olds to the retired. This has given me a very good insight and experience into the needs of every particular student.

I am a qualified teacher and I've taught in colleges, secondary schools and on a one-to-one basis. Since the rise and development of online tuition after 2019, I have also taught online both for schools and privately, and I am well acquainted to teach in this environment using a variety of platforms (Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom).

I also work for a large distance learning organisation as a free lance tutor of IGCSE and A Level. My teaching involves supporting students with their learning and also live online tuition on a one-to-one basis as well as groups.

I have been an AQA and a Pearson Edexcel examiner for GCSE and A Level Spanish for over 10 years and I am deeply acquainted with the old (2016) as well as the new (2024) GCSE Specifications.

I am a native Spanish speaker and I am fluent in English too. I am married for more than 30 years to a British citizen and I am currently living in Banbury with my husband and I have two children.

Most of my adult life, I have lived in an English speaking country but I lived and went to university in my home country of Ecuador until I was 25 years old. I did part of my University studies in Ecuador and 5 years in the United States as well.

I have lived in the UK since 2010 and I have taught GCSE and A level Spanish for more than 14 years. I also have experience teaching Primary school children.

Teaching has always been part of my professional life.

I have more than 30 years of teaching experience in Ecuador, United States and United Kingdom.

Firstly I worked as a supply Spanish teacher at the Inter-American Academy, an international school in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

The latter experience allowed me to work in the American School of Arberdeen as a supply Spanish teacher.

My next teaching position was as a Spanish Club leader for Language4kids Company in Bloxham Primary School and Shenington Primary school and at the same time I was a volunteer in the Foreign language departments at Blessed George Napier Catholic School and Chenderit School.

Regarding translations, I had the opportunity to work at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London for one year using my knowledge in Spanish and English.

I also give casual conversational Spanish lessons to students of all ages.

My approach to tutoring depends on the individual needs and interests. I adapt my teaching skills to the needs of my student and I am very flexible in terms of my schedule and teaching techniques. I essentially work on the areas where my students need most help.

I consider myself as an ambassador of Italian culture and language and I strongly believe that studying a foreign language is an incredibly enriching experience that can really widen and improve your world. I started learning languages when I was six and I will probably never stop.
In my spare time I love reading, watching movies and going to farmers' markets.

Teaching Experience:
I started teaching Italian as a foreign language while studying languages and literatures at university. I kept teaching part-time for 3 years to students of various ages and levels until I graduated.
I then pursued a career in advertising: I worked as copywriter and trainer of new employees for 6 years. I had the opportunity to train new colleagues from all over Europe. I loved training so much that I decided to go back to language teaching, but full-time. I have worked in primary education for ten years. I have worked as a one to one with children with Special Educational Needs and developed my skills training to be a Higher level Teaching Assistant.
Throughout my time in Primary education, I have worked effectively with teams in Key Stage one and two. Due to my extensive experience and educational background I often cover for teachers. Originally a ceramic designer working in the pottery industry I am based in Stoke on Trent. I worked for The Wedgwood group producing designs for companies, airlines and hotels such as The Waldorf, Langhams, Marks and Spencer and Concorde.
Having retired from designing and teaching I now love to paint, usually in large format and in acrylic. I also enjoy oil, watercolour and pastel chalks. My sketchbook follows me wherever I go.

I started as I Design and Technology teacher in secondary and finished as head of Art and head of Design and Technology in middle school. After twenty three years I have specialised in scale model making, three dimensional artworks and inter-active artwork.

I have just come out of fulltime education at East 15 acting school and am looking to get into teaching. Having recently done an online cause to become a member of learning support staff I have acquired a large variety of skills needed to go into education. My passion is acting and hope to continue with a full BA course in it at some point in the future. As well as acting I also have a love for English as a subject and have become an avid writer over the course of the last few months. While it has been difficult with the limitations of Covid 19 I hope to be able to support learners who have an interest in these subjects or simply need help in order to meet their goals in them.

My most recent teaching work has been in training as part of Activate learning at Reading college. These extensive online meetings have focused on equipping me with skills to deal with many different kinds of learners. Sessions on supportive learning, diversity, autism and other learning challenges have allowed me an excellent understanding of many learning styles. As a result I am very flexible in my approach to supporting learners and happy to work around what best works for them. For in person teaching I have experienced first hand experts in theatre and drama as part of my East 15 course. I intent to provide an appropriate level of support for any learners needs. I am passionate about discussion and debate in the learning environment to engage learners in their journey. As well as this, I intend to work closely with understanding how to use the learners strengths best in an exam format. After university, I spent a year as a Science teaching assistant in a top Oxford senior school, and a further two years as a classroom teacher abroad, mainly in China, where I taught Physics and Maths A level. I like to explain concepts using real world examples that students can visualise and recall the next time they have to answer a question on that topic. I absolutely love Science and Maths, and aim for my enthusiasm to rub off on my students!
