Victoria - Durham tutor

Information About Victoria:

Personal Description:

I am a 23 year old highly experienced tutor who is young enough to remember what it is like to be at school as well as the examination processes and criteria, yet mature enough to tutor to very high standards.
I have a BSc (Hons) in Psychology and part-Masters in Education.
I'm a very patient and cheerful person who loves teaching adults and children alike to help them achieve their full potential.
If you're an adult struggling with anything from the basics of computing or reading and writing skills or a child struggling with any of my specialist subject areas shown on the price list I can really help. I consider my strongest subjects to be mathematics, ICT (computers) and psychology, but am flexible and will help in any subject wherever I can. Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries.
I can currently accommodate tutoring appointments in 1 hour, 1.5 hour and 2 hour blocks during weekdays, weekends and evenings.

Teaching Experience:

Since the age of 16 I have been gaining teaching experience. I spent two of my high school years helping out a Year 7 mathematics class and a Year 8 pastoral class.

I also have high levels of voluntary teaching experience from ages 5 to adult as a result of helping out in primary and secondary schools as well as teaching family members how to use computers from basic to advanced standards.

I have spent 9 months of the past year training to be a fully qualified teacher, gaining a part-Masters in Education. I spent half of this time in schools teaching full primary classes and the other half learning theories and approaches to education.

Tutoring Approach:

My approaches vary depending on the child. I firmly believe that high levels of encouragement and a patient attitude on my part are key. The first part of the session would involve assessing the needs of the pupil based on what they believe their targets should be as well as any recommendations by the parents/guardians (in the case of children). I would then focus on those areas by setting achievable yet challenging targets to turn these areas for improvement into strengths.

I am happy to provide the pupil with out-of-hours tasks to complete to really perfect what they have learned during the session and then assess, discuss and rectify any difficulties that have arisen in the next session.
