Personal Description:
Throughout my studies (GCSEs and A-Levels) I have been a straight As student. I have a BSc. Hons. degree in Biomedical Science from Durham University at 2.1 level. This was essentially a combination of Biology and Chemistry, which provides detailed information behind human biology/medicine. I taught Biology and Chemistry GCSE/A-Level as a cover teacher, as well as running some last-minute revision classes for students during their Easter holidays. I am now studying Medicine, so looking to tutor part time.
Teaching Experience:
From 2007-2008, I worked in probation, teaching ex-offenders Maths and English up to Level 2 (GCSE level).
I have worked in a College in London teaching a variety of different subjects - I have been teaching Maths and English up to Level 2. I have also taught IT up to A-Level, including some basic adult evening classes and have experience in Microsoft Office applications. The majority of my classes were GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry classes. As students found my lessons useful, I also provided GCSE and A-Level Biology and Chemistry revision classes during their Easter holidays, in the run-up to their exams.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that all students have potential, but it is up to their tutor to help them reach their potential. I prepare before every class to ensure I have the best resources to aid my students in their learning. It is essential to go into a class with a flexible attitude, as sometimes it is essential to find an alternative way of explaining a concept.
Finding different ways of remembering information is useful, as everyone has a different learning style - so I would ensure that my teaching style is aimed at the way you learn best. I can also provide helpful hints and tips, especially as I remember my own experience of studies as well as my previous background in education.
