Susan - Brighton tutor
Information About Susan:
Personal Description:
I have more than 30 years experience working with children, teenagers and University level students, both in child care and teaching various subjects. My experience includes working with Special Needs, including Down's Syndrome, Dyslexia, and Aspergers. I am also a professional editor and proofreader.
Teaching Experience:
In the last 30 years I have taught Art, Pottery, and Design and Technology in schools. I have also taught French, English, Communication Studies and Drama privately, as well as applying myself to other subjects where necessary.
Tutoring Approach:
I have a light hearted and professional, focused approach, attending to the individual qualities of each student. I appraise the needs and goals of each individual, giving equal emphasis to encouraging confidence and any curricular requirements. I have been known to take a student from being unable to express themselves orally in French to passing their GCSE Oral 3 days later. This of course requires intensive revision in which I use various strategies to instill confidence. In my experience, confidence plays a great part in successful learning.
Although I am available for online tutoring, I consider one on one communication to be more effective.
