Elizabeth - Dulwich tutor
Information About Elizabeth:
Personal Description:
I am currently undertaking a funded History PhD at King's College London.
I hold a Masters in Renaissance and Early Modern Studies for which I was awarded a distinction and full funding as well as a BA Hons (First Class) in history and politics from the University of York. Given this, and my A Level subjects, I can offer private tuition in history, politics, geography and law, in preparation for GCSE, AS and A level exams. I am an organised, committed, reliable and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with children and young adults, helping them to develop their understanding and interest in a variety of subjects.
I have tutored for a number of years, and have helped those I tutor to significantly improve their exam results and grades, often taking them from C and D level grades up to high As and Bs. My most recent tutee, who I tutored in GCSE Geography and History, achieved an A* in both subjects and came top of his year at school for his GCSE grades.
I am also happy to offer any help I can with university applications.
In the lead up to the exam period, I can provide intensive revision sessions and/ or revision guides for any of the subjects listed below.
References can be provided upon request.
Teaching Experience:
I have tutored since 2007, and have helped those I tutor to significantly improve their exam results and grades, often taking them from C and D level grades up to high As and Bs.
For several years I have undertaken a variety of volunteer projects, working within schools/ educational environments and with children :- this has included working at the University of York, Barley Hall (York), Westminster Palace and the Tower of London. Whilst working in these environments, I conducted a range of independent historical research projects. I then planned educational sessions based on these materials, which I then delivered to school children of various ages and abilities. It was necessary to ensure that the material collected was not only historically accurate but also easy to understand and enjoyable to learn about, helping the children to develop an interest in different periods of history.
Tutoring Approach:
Whilst tutoring I would pay particular attention to the needs of each student, and tailor their study courses to best meet their needs and wishes. My approach to tutoring emphasises clarity, flexibility, and an enthusiasm for learning, within an informal and relaxed yet structured and interactive environment. I would encourage students to think imaginatively and challenge themselves academically, encouraging debate and broadening their horizons. This would not only help to improve a child's examination technique but also their academic development.
In the lead up to the exam period I can provide intensive revision sessions and/ or revision guides for any of the subjects listed below.
