Personal Description:
I am a family man, married 20 years to my wife Mel, with 3 beautiful daughters. I have been tutoring in the South Wales area since 1992 after graduating in Chemical Engineering with 2nd (Hons) Degree from University of Glamorgan. My hobbies include wordwide travel, Triathlon, Motorcycles/Cars and anything to do with science and maths.
Teaching Experience:
After graduating in Summer 1992 with an Honours Degree in Chemical & Process Engineering from the University of Glamorgan, I set up my tutoring business to assist parents & pupils with examination preparation, who felt they were being let down by the educational system.
I worked as an examiner for the WJEC from 1997 to 2002 marking Maths papers.
I currently teach on a 1-2-1 basis or in small groups, usually {but not exclusively} in the privacy of the pupils home, in the following subjects:-
* Key stages 1 to 4 {GCSE} in Mathematics, English, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Engineering, Design and Technology, Electronics.
* 'A' Levels {GCE} in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics
* BTEC Engineering, Nursing & Health Care courses, Paramedics, Sports Science.
* Degrees in Engineering - Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Aerospace, and Nursing.
* UKCAT, BMAT, GAMSAT Entrance exams to Medicine and Dental school.
*Also PAT tests.
Tutoring Approach:
I thoroughly prepare students for examinations using past paper practise to build up their self confidence and develop the ability to read and digest each exam question.
During the interim term time, I conduct 'student led' lessons, where each of my pupils is able to tell me what they want to learn; whether it be new material, homework assistance or revision of old topics.
I structure my lessons this way because I teach many different students of varying abilities, who are studying at different levels and using different exam boards e.g. WJEC, OCR, AQA, EDEXCEL.
