Information About Mary:

Personal Description:

I have a background in Computer programming and design in industry. After having children I worked in accounting and management for a while. I then qualified as a teacher in IT and computer skills.

I enjoy using computers as a business tool for study and entertainment. I advise and teach on all these aspects of computers.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught for 10 years at Solihull College and also for ReCom. I teach part time learners and business customers. I have taught GCSE applied IT. So far my students have ranged in age from 12 to 85!

I teach all Microsoft Office Applications - Excel spreadsheets, Word processing, Access Databases, PowerPoint presentations, Outlook Email.

I teach practical home computer skills such as using the internet, Photo workshops, file organisation and set up.

Tutoring Approach:

I am friendly and patient. I like to ensure my student has hands on experience. I will not take over the keyboard but let the student "drive" while I instruct as necessary so that they know what to do and remember it.

I am happy to help students with GCSE / A level projects and course work. I will teach them the skills needed and explain where they need to improve and show areas where criteria are not met. I can of course only advise, the work must remain the student's own.

• Management Degree, Lancaster University
• Cit & Guilds Adult Teaching Certificate
• MOUS expert qualification (IT)
• ECDL -European Computer Driving Licence
