Syed - Milton Keynes tutor
Information About Syed:
Personal Description:
This is Dr Adnan. I am working as a Research Assistant with a university in Central London. I have recently submitted my PhD in a hybrid area of computing and social sciences and am currently working towards a teaching career in higher education.
Prior to this, I had been working with the Learning and Information Services department at my post graduate university in the capacity of Study Skills Advisor. In addition I also taught English and General Studies to GCSEs and year 7 - 11 in a boarding school at Kidderminster.
I have also taught programming language and IT courses to undergraduate students for 4 and half years abroad.
Currently I am involved in hardcore research. Though very demanding, the role is flexible in terms of working patterns and therefore I can still continue with my most beloved activity of providing teaching support and tuitions.
Teaching Experience:
Until recently (March, 2010), before moving to London, I was teaching English and General Studies (Citizenship and PSHE) to year 7 - 11 and GCSE level students at a boarding school in Kidderminster, Worcestershire.
Also, as a Study Skills Advisor, I was responsible to provide ONE-to-ONE teaching and research support to students ranging from first degree level to graduate and adult students in the disciplines of Computing and ICT, Maths and Numeracy, Business Studies and Social Sciences.
Additionally, I have a 4+ year teaching experience of teaching programming language related courses to undergraduate students at an international institution.
Tutoring Approach:
During the last 10+ years of teaching different individual levels and students, I have myself learned that transfer of knowledge is not solely related to higher degrees and training courses. It is something that a person attains with time and dedication. The approach differs immensely when you teach groups and individuals. My approach varies on individual basis but overall includes the following main objectives:
Support individuals to develop their own styles to learn
Enable students to utilize their own very strengths
Help individuals in organization themselves and eliminate bad habits such as procrastination, lack of concentration or interest
Most importantly, assist learners in utilizing all that is mentioned above and much more to strive and achieve best academic grades
