Steven - Kilbirnie tutor

Information About Steven:

Personal Description:

I am a postgraduate student at the university of Glasgow looking to tutor to help fund my own studies.

I have a 1st class honours degree in computing with Artificial Intelligence and have spent several years working in the IT industry.

Please note that my CRB check has recently expired, but I am in the process of getting this renewed through a charity that I volunteer for.

Teaching Experience:

I have no formal teaching experience, however I have worked in jobs where I have been required to train others, I have worked with psychiatric patients and helped one in particular to return to work in computing after his living in a psychiatric institution for several years.

I have also volunteered as a teaching assistant at a local night class while I was working as a software engineer. At the college I helped adults improve their literacy and maths skills by spending time with them on a one to one basis while the teacher took the rest of the class.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a laid back tutor (not to be confused with laziness!). Having been there myself, I understand the stress that studying for exams can put on a person, and the frustration of not being able to grasp a concept, and I go out of my way to be patient and to explain something as many times as it takes for a student to understand it.

I also take pride in my work, when my student is happy then I am happy. I am always happy to help students that may wish to contact me informally with questions
