I have a heart for seeing children reach their potential in life and experiencing education in a fun effective way. Through teaching, my ability to teach, lead, plan and manage has been built upon. I take pride in being an organized person. Creativity is one of my strengths and I love to come up with ideas that are fresh and vibrant.I believe myself to be a well rounded individual, open to new challenges and experiences. i iwll bring my own learning resources for the children and will base them around the scheme that is being used within the school as to keep with continuity for the child's learning.
I also have Disclosure Scotland.
Teaching Experience:
2007-2008 Ballerup Nursery and Muiredge Primary (Teaching Assistant)
2008-2009 3 School Placements (James Aiton Primary (P6), Auchinraith Primary(P4) and High Blantyre (P2)
2009- Present Calderwood Primary(P7) and cover other stages of the school.
Throughout the past 2 years I have taught across the whole age range of children from 3-11 years. Currently in my primary 7 class, I work with children who have additional support needs. Within the class I had to adapt my lessons/tasks and alter my classroom management to get the best from these pupils. I value the importance of making links with other subjects. Integrating different subjects gives children a richer and more purposeful learning experience.
I believe in the sharing of learning intentions with children which I have done before using WALT and WILF and will continue to do so. During placements and current teaching practice, I use formative assessment techniques such as peer assessment, self assessment and different marking strategies.I have seen the benefits these bring to the development and progression of learning.
Overall, I feel tutoring allows me to spend one on one time to encourage children to experience success in their academic studies.
Tutoring Approach:
The child should be at the centre of all learning. I feel that learning should be active, creative and accommodate the different ways in which children learn. I am a very patient person and feel this is a crucial characteristic in a tutor.
From working within a school, I have a wide range of resources on hand to help further children's learning. Additonally, I will specifically create lessons to suit the pupil, develop their skills and stretch them as much as I can whilst boosting their confidence and enjoyment in learning.
