Katy - Kinross tutor

Information About Katy:

Personal Description:

I am 19 years old and I am in my first year at university studying medicine. I achieved two As and a B in my A-level exams. I am a trustworthy, friendly individual who is approachable and sensitive to the needs of different people. I can communicate with children of all ages and I am aware how the age of a child will affect teaching style. I understand how different children need different methods of teaching and I would do my best to accommodate this.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified Scottish Hockey coach and I have coached children from the ages of 3 - 9 once a week. In this coaching I have learnt how to communicate with a range of ages and how to make learning interactive and fun. I have also worked at a school for challenging children for a few days. In this time I have seen how to become more sensitive to children's needs and how to adapt teaching styles in order to make learning easier and more enjoyable. I am working in a bistro at the moment which has also given me a lot of experience communicating with a variety of people.

Tutoring Approach:

From coaching and experience in schools, I am very aware how learning needs to be enjoyable for the individual and also how teaching methods need to be adapted for the individual. I have picked up many methods by being taught different study skills myself, and from my experience. I would do my best to ensure the tutee was having fun, but that they were also understanding the very things they are having trouble with. As I have said, I am an approachable, friendly individual and I listen very well. As I have been doing the syllabus not too long ago, I know what it is like not to understand a specific topic and I will use my past experiences to help in any way I can. I feel these are a good combination of skills to be a good tutor.
