Personal Description:
I have recently obtained a MSc in renewable energy engineering from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland.
My undergraduate degree was in mathematics at Cambridge University, and now I am studying for an MSc in renewable energy engineering at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. As a student I constantly learnt new things which helps keep my mind active and in the mode for study.
As a friendly and approachable person I enjoy socialising with friends. I love playing badminton, and also like to cycle to keep fit. Helping other people succeed with their goals is something I hope to participate more in, and I strongly believe that the effort I put into this will mutually help me to succeed with mine. To me tutoring seems like a worthwhile way to pass on useful knowledge and experience effectively, allowing for flexibility and extra attention to be paid to a students needs.
Teaching Experience:
As a Cambridge graduate I learnt a lot from the supervisory system they use. The format is usually weekly 1 hour tutoring sessions (supervisions) involving 2 student and one supervisor. The session is used in whatever way best suits the students needs which can involve work through example problems, going through some theory, or something else.
The above format is exactly what a private tuition should entail, as it provides the most tailored assistance for the student's needs. It allows the student to effectively communicate the things they struggle with, giving the tutor an idea of what support he/she should provide.
I believe in this system and conduct tutoring in the same manner.
I have some tutoring experience from before university and after graduation, all of these were for mathematics. However I am confident in tutoring physics up to A level standard and so this can also be requested.
Tutoring Approach:
I am available by correspondence or within a short distance from my location (Luton LU2 8).
It is important for the student to communicate what he/she wants to achieve and the difficulties they are facing, so a discussion between the student and myself should take place at the beginning of each session.
