Information About Andrew:


Personal Description:

I am 46 years old, have a first class degree in physics and a postgraduate in philosophy. I am also a professional musician and have played on many successful recordings and toured the world in this capacity. I have two young children and am a very active member of my local community, having won national awards for my work in a local children's garden



Teaching Experience:

My teaching experience is very wide. I have lectured in Forth Valley College, Falkirk for 6 years on subjects including Maths, Physics, Music Technology, Numeracy, Literacy, Radio Production, Media Studies. In December 2005 I delivered the Christmas Schools science lecture here. I also lecture at the University of Western Scotland in Paisley on Music technology. In addition i teach piano for the Scottish Arts Council at Hamilton Town Hall. As well as this institutional teaching I do a lot of private tuition, having 10 private piano students whom I teach at my home. I also have experience of privately coaching students in Maths and Physics.



Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is informal, enthusiastic and friendly. It encompasses a wide range of strategies, designed to give a tailored approach to an individual student. I find I can help students achieve outstanding results best by finding out exactly what each learner needs and by establishing realistic targets for achievement.
