Dee - Watford tutor
Information About Dee:
Personal Description:
After graduating from UCL with a Neuroscience Hons BSc, I have focused on expanding my tuition business. I have a very enthusiastic approach to learning and believe the combination of determination and attitude are the recipe for success. I am patient and understanding, but am aware that, at times, discipline needs to be enforced (with the younger students). I'm here to improve exam results and develop the general knowledge and attitude of my students to the subjects. I can provide a very efficient 'crash course' in the run up to exams, whilst also maintain a long term relationship with students to ensure they consistently are making the most of their academic opportunities and examinations. I can also prepare an ongoing plan for clients and organise for some of my tutors to execute this plan at a discounted rate.
Teaching Experience:
I have tutored a variety of ages - from 4 to 18 year-olds, whilst running my tuition business. I prepare students for external examinations, entrance examinations for competitive London schools and also general subject knowledge and confidence building. I have been a part time teaching assistant for a year 1 class, teaching hand writing and encouraging concentration and curiosity. I have been tutoring for over eight years now. I have an extremely good previous record with my students and am yet to have a student who has not achieved the school they want. As in my academic career, I had a multitude of entrance exams to gain a place in my number one institution. And had to balance many different priorities whilst studying where I set up my business and managed to achieve the UCL Neuroscience prize for achievement.
I have consistently had high grades - from receiving 10*s at GCSE, all As at A-Level and a first class degree in Neuroscience. I also have a multitude of excellent references from my previous and current students. I therefore believe, whilst I am always improving myself and my tutoring skills, I have a wealth of experience behind me to help any students achieve their goals.
Tutoring Approach:
I comprehend the need for excellence under exam conditions and I encourage students to learn exam techniques from a young age. However, I strongly believe that the attitude and enthusiasm for a subject is the key to success. It is important not to focus solely on exams and to develop knowledge for personal development and improvement. I adapt my teaching styles to each student; each lesson is based on the student's current ability and what each students' personal goals are.
