I'm a recent University of Glasgow Biochemistry and MSc International Project Management graduate. I'm a French national and have been living in the UK for 14 years. I'm a lovely person, very dynamic and love the one to one of tutoring. It makes me really happy to help someone achieve something they have worked so hard for.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring privately now for 7 years and have seen my students come to grow in confidence, in understanding and in knowledge of their chosen topics. I saw a girl who I tutored for 7 months go from getting an 'Unclassified grade' in her Biology AS Level to a B in her A2. I have never seen a student of mine's grades stay the same post-tutoring and I am very proud of that.

Tutoring Approach:

I approach tutoring different ways depending on who the student is. I ask them questions about themselves, hobbies, favourite subjects etc; and then using that to better understand how they learn, I talk to them about their private learning and revision and the method of approach to that and to exams. And then I teach them using the method appropriate to their style of learning.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced chemistry teacher and A-level examiner. I have been a private tutor in chemistry and maths since 2002 with excellent results and consistently good feedback. All students are welcome, whether working towards first-time examinations, resits, or needing support and confidence through the course. As well as teaching and supporting all areas of A-level and GCSE chemstry, I spend time with students on study skills, revision technique and exam technique. These are areas which are sometimes given little attention in schools but are central to student's success and the development of their potential.

Teaching Experience:

Both my private tuition and work as a teacher have benefitted from my work as an external examiner for AS chemistry, on-going since 2004. This gives me an invaluable insight not only in terms of subject knowledge but also towards exam preparation and technique. I can therefore assist with a variety of extremely useful tips and pointers towards revision and taking exams, including, for example, key word-pairs guaranteed to improve answers.

I am frequently commended for explaining concepts very clearly with relevant examples.

Tutoring Approach:

I am friendly and approachable, encouraging queries and questions whenever they arise. I use questioning techniques as part of my teaching in order to help students express themselves and develop both their thinking and understanding of chemistry. I also help with both revision and exam technique and this is incorporated into my teaching as well as discussed separately.


I am happy to tutor both individuals and groups of 2-4. I recommend 1hr teaching sessions for GCSE and 1 - 1.5 hours for A-level. I provide past papers and other materials as necessary and can do longer or more frequent lessons around exam time, if required.

I am a 30 year old female graduate from the University of Strathclyde, in Glasgow. I have a joint Honours degree in French and Italian (language and studies) for which I gained a 2:1. I also have a Masters in Marketing which I also obtained from the University of Strathclyde. I am currently working in the Modern Languages department of St Ninian's High School in East arendreeshire. I spent a year abroad in Lyon, France, during my fourth year of university, where I worked as an English Language Assistant in two high schools. I am extremely patient and understanding and have a lot of experience tutoring both young children and teenagers, especially in French and Italian. I am a qualified French & Italian teacher in secondary education and have acquired a great amount of experience throughout my different posts and have gained great confidence in teaching the new National 4 and 5 qualifications. I also have experience teaching the Higher Course in both languages. During my fourth year of University, I worked in two high schools in Lyon, France as an English language assistant, teaching children, teenagers and young adults, from the age of nine to twenty three. I was responsible for helping them with all aspects of the language, and developing their reading, writing, listening and verbal skills by preparing and working on a number of different activities. I also taught them about British culture, history and lifestyles so as to help develop their knowledge of Britain, particularly Scotland, in general. I ensured that I worked differently with different individuals, depending on their style of learning and I took a different approach accordingly. I aimed to make my style of teaching both informative and fun so that they enjoyed learning and I believe this is something I am always successful in as many tutees I have worked with have commented on my positive and helpful way of teaching.

In my final year of high school I was involved in the 'Peer Education' programme whereby I went into five different French and Italian classes and helped those who were experiencing difficulties with the subjects. I helped particularly with grammar issues as these seemed to pose the most problems for pupils and I also helped them prepare for upcoming speaking and writing tests. I also helped pupils to understand easier ways of making the most of their French or Italian dictionary and taught them creative and simple of ways of tackling listening and reading tests. Moreover, I worked on a one to one basis with a Higher grade pupil who was experiencing problems with French and we explored different ways of making difficult areas that much easier. I was also part of the 'Paired Reading' programme where I worked with pupils aged eleven to fifteen who experienced reading difficulties. I met with three pupils for one hour each week, on an individual basis, and we would work on techniques for improving their reading ability and they would read to me. These two programmes were very gratifying, especially when I witnessed a pupil's confidence grow as their reading skills improved.

I have also tutored two family friends, both in French and Italian, with a great focus on exam preparation and the skills that they needed to do well on class tests. I also help my niece and nephew with their French, focusing greatly on the areas they find the most difficult.

Tutoring Approach:

I take a different approach to my tutoring depending on the individual I am working with. On my first session with my tutee I will find out the areas that they are experiencing the most difficulty in, and what their strengths and weaknesses are, as this will help me to develop an effective and helpful way of teaching. I prepare various worksheets, practice tests and activities which are interactive and will allow for valuable learning. I will ask the tutee what their preferred way of learning is and look at ways in which they successfully learn in other subjects and try to incorporate this in to my way of teaching. I encourage tutees to ask questions wherever necessary and to state if they wish me to try a different approach. I believe communication is the key to successful learning and I pride myself on my friendly and approachable nature and my ability to achieve results in my tuition. On the whole, I am aware that my way of teaching has to be of benefit to the tutee so I will tailor my approach to suit their wants and needs.

Teaching Experience:

Worked as a chemical engineer for 6 years before starting working as a teacher. Worked with many London schools and colleges for the last 8 years. Helped many students to fulfill their potential and assisted them to get into top UK universities, including Oxford University, Cambridge University and Imperial College of London.

Tutoring Approach:

I am an exceptional teacher who is driven and enthusiastic about teaching. I believe each student has their own way of learning and that teaching should be tailed to match individual needs and leaning styles. Not only does this keep the student interested but I have also found that this creates a desire to learn more about the subject. I believe patience is another key factor to teaching, and which is a skill that I see myself to possess. Teaching Experience:

While studying at Newcastle I've taken many tutorials for students taking courses in Maths. For the past 6 years I've also worked in a tutoring drop-in centre where any student at Newcastle University can come to ask maths questions. I've always enjoyed this work as over the course of a day I can be asked how to apply maths to many problems from mechanical engineering to fine arts!

I have also done a lot of private tuition of A-levels for all of the major examining boards. I have often got this work from referral of satisfied customers.

I came to live in Poole after spending most of my early life in the Portsmouth area. I love travelling and walking as well as most sports. Postgraduate studies:
MSc, 2:1 in Political Theory from the London School of Economics and Political Science (2015). A political philosophy course in the analytic tradition including modules on liberalism, egalitarianism, feminist theory, and two outside modules on conflict and humanitarianism.

Undergraduate studies:
BA(Hons), 2:1 in Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic from Cambridge University (2010). Included modules in history, politics, literature, and religious studies, as well as Arabic language. I spent the third year of my studies living in Damascus, Syria, and speak the Syrian dialect, as well as having a solid grounding in Modern Standard grammar. Since graduating I have worked in Iraq, Jordan, Turkey, and Israel.

A-levels:
My A-levels were in English Literature, Philosophy & Ethics, French, and History (AAAB), and I also took an AS-level in Spanish (A). I have lived in France and Spain and speak both French and Spanish to a high level of fluency. I was also raised bilingual with English and Italian.

Teaching Experience:

In addition to tutoring family friends in Italy over the summer holidays (in English), I've exchanged English and Spanish lessons for Arabic lessons. I also taught English to two groups of 20+ Arab teenagers at a high school in Israel from September - December 2012.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe in cultivating a vigorous work ethic in students, which is best done through close supervision and encouragement. The work covered will involve both the curriculum required by the student's course as well as helpful extras tailored to the student's abilities and personality. I will provide these extras to increase the student's understanding of the subject and help him/or her reach a standard of excellence that will be noticed by teachers and examiners alike.

I find the most common problem students have is not with the subject itself, but with the teacher or the insufficient attention they get in the classroom. A stress-free but diligent approach will allow us to build trust, which will give the student renewed confidence in his or her abilities. Students who push themselves with me will be rewarded for their hard work by realising that the subject they once dreaded is actually really enjoyable when approached from a new angle.

Personal Description:
I have had much help from tutors throughout my academic life so I can understand the value that is offered to a tutee by receiving extra tuition in this way. I am currently studying a Ph.D in Medical Science at Aberdeen University and studied my undergraduate degree here also gaining a 2.1 in my honours degree in Biomedical Science (physiology). The hours spent doing work towards my doctorate is fairly flexible and I have a car meaning my ability to fit around the schedule of others is very good. I consider myself outgoing, patient and very reliable.

Teaching Experience:

I was Biology prefect in my final year at school which involved helping to teach classes up until fourth year. I also carried out some work experience teaching primary school children PE and as part of my Ph.D I will be demonstrating for and tutoring first and second year undergraduates at the university. I have also had vast one on one tutoring experience from 13+ maths and science to standard grade/intermediate physics to advanced higher/A-level Biology and Chemistry.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring will be engaging, challenging and above all I will strive to create an environment which makes the tutee want to push him/herself. The result will be that the tutee will enjoy doing learning and the progress and benefits will start to become apparent. I am a qualified teacher with 3 years experience of successfully teaching Biology to GCSE and A-Level. Having recently relocated and now living and working in East London, I am looking to tutor at weekends or weekday evenings.

I have an Upper Second Class BSc degree, with Honours, from the University of Leeds in Human Genetics. This course contained a significant amount of Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics, further building on my previous qualifications (including 3 A's at A-level, 6 A*s and 5 A's at GCSE).

Additionally, I have had two years experience in industry. This includes 18 months spent working as a project and account manager for a successful biotechnology company, and a further 6 months spent working in a radiotherapy department as an assistant practitioner. Both of these roles heavily involved the application of scientific principles, contributing to the knowledge I hold of the relevance of science to the real world.

Teaching Experience:

I have three years experience teaching KS3, KS4 and KS5 Biology at a high achieving well established Church of England School in Bolton. A large percentage of my teaching timetable included teaching Biology to high ability pupils at KS5. In Summer 2015, every single one of my A2 pupils progressed to achieve and/or exceed their target grades, with 7 of my 30 pupils achieving A*s. During this time I worked closely with the Head of Biology to develop schemes of work and resources to help better structure and streamline our teaching of the specification. In order to further enrich the quality of my teaching, I successfully applied to AQA for the position of examiner, and I have just completed my first summer of examining (GCSE). I therefore consider myself to have an up to date knowledge and understanding of current curriculum developments.

I have recently started in the new position as Teacher of Biology a the Newham Collegiate Sixth Form Centre: an outstanding provider of A Level education based in East London. The college opened in September 2014 and aims to push able local students to enable them to progress to the best and most competitive universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.

Tutoring Approach:

Biology helps pupils to understand the world around them, inspires their curiosity and encourages them to ask questions. Such thought processes should be nurtured and encouraged by utilising activities and questioning techniques that excite the imagination whilst portraying the relevance and application of science in the wider world.

My approach to tutoring involves teaching beyond the specification, to encourage a thorough, rich understanding of the subject by providing additional details that might be glossed over in the classroom. This allows pupils to make links between topics, enabling them to apply their knowledge to unfamiliar contexts. I will ensure pupils are familiar with the different ways questions can be presented, by utilising past paper questions where neccessary.

I have been tutoring University students and adults in business subjects and Microsoft Excel for the past four years whilst working in Finance. Prior experience has also included children of ages 5-12 in groups and 1-1 tutoring at ages: 5-8 (for Maths and English) and 10 (for 11+ exams).

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching Experience:

I have worked (and mostly taught) in many different countries so far, which has been very profitable for my teaching practice.
I began as a French language assistant in 2006-2007 in a secondary school in South London.
Two years later, during my MA in Montpellier, I became a tutor at the department of English of my home university.
I went to the US in late 2009 to be a French language instructor at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. I taught a class of 20 beginners (aged 18 to 25) on a daily basis, which was extremely motivating. A few months later, I crossed the border and offered one-to-one tuition in Montreal, Canada.
In London since 2010, I achieved the status of Associate Practitioner delivered by the Higher Education Academy in February 2014. This qualification is in line with the UKPSF standards for teaching and supporting learning in higher education.
I am now teaching at Goldsmiths on the seminar 'Approaches to Text' (Department of English).

Tutoring Approach:

The teaching I offer is tailored to your specific needs. I try to relate to your own interest to facilitate the learning process. My teaching method is fundamentally active: we will work towards the goal that you will have determined beforehand through a constant engagement with the language on your part. Lat but not least, I try to make my teaching fun whenever I can!
