I currently work part-time in two Universities, and have been teaching for nearly ten years. I can help you revise for exams, with assignments and dissertations.

I like tutoring as I get to speak to interesting people who face a variety of academic challenges. In the past I have helped people online and over the phone, through Skype and face to face meetings.

Teaching Experience:

Before teaching I worked in publishing and journalism. I have written a book called 'How to work as a freelance journalist' and I used to manage a magazine so also have lots of practical business experience too.

I teach journalism, business and employability. Mostly tutees I meet want help with specific things such as revising for exams or completing a difficult assignment. Often it is a case of working together to help improve your grades and reach deadlines.

I have taught students from all over the world including China, Malaysia and Qatar. I enjoy meeting new people and am keen to make sure that you get what you want from tutoring.

I am currently studying for a Diploma in CPLHE (Certificate in Professional Learning and Higher Education).

Tutoring Approach:

Through this site I have worked with students to complete assignments, dissertation proposals, catch up on missed work, or understand academic ideas that they were struggling with.

I have also worked with many students via email and telephone. This means that you can tackle a little bit at a time, and save yourself money.

Alan began exhibiting his photography back in 1995 and won various awards through the Australian photography industry bodies: the A.I.P.P. and A.C.M.P. In 1997, he was awarded the 'Nikon/Panorama Showcase Photographer of the Year' for his portfolio of ten images. The judges included the late David Moore. In 2006 he received two nominations in the international Black and White Spider Awards for fine art and sport. In 2008 Alan took part in a weeks long photo workshop in London, taught by two Magnum Agency photographers. He was one of 14 chosen from 130 photographers that supplied portfolios.

Personal Description:
I am a fully qualified Spanish teacher and completed my PGCE in Spanish with French at Newcastle University in 2009. I then went on to gain Qualified Teacher Status in 2010. All of my teaching qualifications are up to date and can be produced, along with my current CRB form, in the first lesson.

I am fluent in Spanish and studied Law with Spanish at Nottingham University. This involved living for a year in Valencia which gave me a wonderful insight into Spanish culture. I then went on to spend a year teaching English in Peru, a country which I have returned to visit several times. I have also spent time living in Honduras where I undertook voluntary work in a Primary School. These experiences have made Spanish one of my great passions and I hope to pass this on to my students.

After working for several years as a Languages teacher in the North East, in December 2013 I decided to leave my post in a South Tyneside school to spend more time with my young daughter. This move will now enable me to spend more time on Private Tuition.

Teaching Experience:

Since 2009 I have worked as a Languages teacher in a number of schools in the North East. My responsibilities have included:

- Tutoring a student who needed to re-sit her A2 Spanish paper to attend the University of her choice. This student was successful in her re-sit and has since gone on to study Spanish at University.

- Tutoring an English speaking student who had lived in Tenerife and was unable to study Spanish at his school on relocation to the North East. I solely tutored him through the AQA AS course in which he gained a grade A at the age of 13.
I subsequently tutored him throughout the whole of the A2 course, including both cultural topics.

Tutoring Approach:

I am extremely patient and considerate and always strive to get the best from my students. In my approach to exam preparation, I believe in the importance of consolidating learning through self study, homework and past exam papers.

I am a Foundation Year 2 doctor currently working in Brighton and Sussex University NHS Trust. I graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2015 with Distinctions in pre-clinical science, clinical science, medical science and clinical practice. Pre-A level maths and science
I have always had a passion for teaching. During the course of my medical school, I have taught maths and science at various levels including GCSE and Year 11-14 with great success. I gained a tremendous amount of personal satisfaction from watching my students gaining confidence and interest in maths and science, as well as improvement in grade.

I have been involved in a variety of medical student teaching including OSCE/PACES teaching, mock examination examiners and EMQ teaching. Tutoring Approach:

Pre-A level maths and science
I believe that every student has a different way of learning and as a teacher, it is my job to explore the learning style specific to the student and it is my job to inspire interest and confidence in the student. Often, I get feedback from students that the best thing about my teaching is the fact that I made them feel more confident to tackle the problems themselves and to trust their own judgement. I believe that this is very important, especially in maths and science because this is where creativity and problem-solving skills begin. I also believe in creating a solid foundation. I encourage students to always work from first principle, not just memorise formulas and really think about the basics and start working it out from there in a logical way. I feel that this is especially important in tackling more complex problems, which is what a lot of students struggle with.

Medical student tutoring
OSCE/PACES teaching: I like to focus on the basics and I emphasise the importance of getting the technique right. I use case-based discussions to stimulate students to think of about the history, examination, investigation and management. I teach students how to formulate differential diagnoses and come up with a management plan.

EMQ teaching: I focus on the technique of asnwering questions. Every question has a key word which steer you in the right direction, and my focus is for students to learn to identify these key words and select the best posisble option.

Medical school application: I get to know my student, understand their strength and weaknesses as well as their motivation and experience and tweak it to formulate the best possible portfolio to present to the medical school.

I am a full time professional tutor, an examiner for iGCSE, ex-University Lecturer from the University of Nottingham and the immediate past Vice-President of the Tutors' Association.

I hold a PhD from Imperial College London and have a strong academic track record having previously led cutting-edge industrial and academic research in science and statistics. I have had teaching experience with children between the ages of 5 - 12 years teaching English and Maths. In 2012, I ran a debating society in my school where I coached 13-18 year olds debating and public speaking skills.

Firstly, I like to meet my student and understand what their course is all about as I understand from personal experience that depending on which board you are with, your exams and assignments will vary. Following this it is important for me to find out what exactly the student is struggling with; is it learning the content or exam study skills? Once we have established this, I like to take a structured approach to tutoring where both the student and I will agree on what we would like to achieve each week - whether it is how to make a great essay or learning a new political topic!

Physics is (in my opinion) a fantastic subject, and one that is highly regarded in society, not to mention indispensable if a career in engineering or some of the sciences is to be pursued.

Before I decided to change career and become a teacher, I worked for a British sports car manufacturer as a design engineer, using many of the principles I now teach in my then, day to day work.

I graduated from Coventry University in 2000 with a BEng (Hons) in Automotive Engineering Design, before going on to read an MBA in Business Management.

After a number of years working in the automotive industry, I got involved in teaching through the Formula Schools initiative.

I graduated from The University of Nottingham in 2010 with a PGCE in Secondary Science (Physics).

This history of working in industry before going becoming a teacher/tutor allows me to bring in relevant examples of where the theory fits in with the real world. I feel that this is important and I find it helps to bring a subject to life for the student,

Teaching Experience:

I qualified as a physics teacher in 2010 and have worked as a teacher or tutor since.

I now work full time as a physics tutor, working on a one to one basis with students across a spectrum of abilities at both G.C.S.E. and A level.

Tutoring Approach:

I provide a calm, friendly approach, taking care to find where precisely the student is having problems, then either tweak theories and knowledge in order to correct any misconceptions or start from the beginning with them, taking the time to fully support, explain and develop the student's knowledge and skills in that area, making sure that the foundations are laid to create a strong base for any future knowledge to be built upon. This is important in both G.C.S.E and A level as they are both built upon a spiral curriculum, whereby topics and previous knowledge are revisited and used time and time again throughout the course.

Often, the difference between a puzzled look and the "eureka" moment that all teachers strive for, is just one explanation or a slight tweak on the explanation of a theory away. Sometimes, the difference may be supporting the examples and calculation side, this support then giving the student the confidence in their knowledge and understanding.

In addition to providing subject content tuition, I also provide exam preparation and technique,, past paper practice, revision schedules, constant progress monitoring and ongoing progress evaluation..

* In Research Method, I am specifically expert in the fieldwork, case study, qualitative method, theory in research method, deduction and induction methods, theory deriving, and critical approaches to the methodology.

* For Religion, Terrorism and Security Studies I mostly teach the peace process, conflict resolution, violent extremism, Jihad, Salafism, Wahhabism and as case studies; extreme Islamic groups such as Al-Qaeda and ISIS.

*In Anthropology, I provide teaching and assistance in culture, religion and anthropological fieldwork

I have an extensive research background in academia and as an independent scholar; I am quite familiar with Political Science and International Relations. I have an intensive academic background in International Relations Theories, Political Theory and Philosophy, Political History, Comparative Politics, Religious Studies, Democracy and Governmental Studies, Religious Studies, Sociology, Terrorism and Security Studies and Research Method. During my Ph.D., I took ten courses [at the Ph.D. level] regarding the underlined disciplines for two years and completed with the high honour degree (distinction) (3.88/4). Before and after my Ph.D., I also took courses from various Social Science Institutions.
