Personal Description:
I recently stepped down as Head of German at the secondary school in Kidderminster, where I have led the German Department since 1995. I now work as a German classroom teacher. My decision to step down was based on the fact that I got married in July last year and now have to travel a considerable distance to my school. During my time as Head of Department, the results at Key Stage 3, GCSE, AS and A2 have improved considerably. The pass rate for GCSE German has been approximately 80% for several years. This is higher than the national average and was based on 3 years of study to GCSE. Many pupils achieve top A*, A and B grades. The pass rate at AS and A2 has also been excellent with pupils achieving As, Bs and Cs. Former pupils have gone on to study languages at top-ranking universities and some have returned to the school in a teaching capacity for Modern Languages.

I have also worked as a tutor in Further Education teaching adults from aged 20 - 80 years from beginner's up to GCSE type work.

I am have friends in Germany and visit on a regular basis and keep up to date with new teaching ideas via the MFL Resources Forum.

I am interested in using a range of teaching strategies and personalising learning to meet the needs of learners. You Tube and ICT feature in my classroom.

I have an MA degree in English from Cambridge University and am an IGCSE examiner for the Cambridge International Examinations Board.

My early background in retail management, several years at director level in international advertising, then thirty years as a teacher, with theatre running as a constant thread throughout my life, all combine to make me a particularly effective communicator.

As well as offering private tuition, I also run school drama workshops, direct plays, and work as a freelance writer/editor and voice-over. I have been involved in over fifty theatrical productions - acting or directing - as well as giving regular readings and public presentations.

Attended Secondary Mathematics Conference in Stirling University on 3rd March 2012 which was arranged by the Scottish Mathematical Council. It was extremely beneficial for me as it allowed me to be open to new ideas including active learning, cooperative learning, and differentiation
Created ICT resources for my S3 Credit class which allowed them to have a better understanding of topics such as; proportion and simultaneous equations.
I was involved in the development of curriculum for Level 3 which included resources used for a specific outcome, ICT and web resources. This also included identifying the objectives of specific outcomes.

I was involved in following activities :-

BP Enterprise Road Show, Intermediate Maths Challenge
Olympic Stadium Visit-I organised and facilitated S5 pupils' Olympic Stadium visit for a study experience.
In August I started a Maths Club which ran every Tuesday at lunchtime.
I joined the numeracy committee in the school which worked on promoting numeracy across the whole school.
Primary 7 Induction Evening, Football Team-I took the U-14 football team, Cricket Team, Supported Studies

I am a passionate historian who since finishing my Masters degree in 2014 has continued to study and write about history and politics amongst other subjects.

I have been teaching privately for the past seven years and this has ranged from home schooling to teaching several students at once. I'm Charlotte and I'm 18! I've just completed my A Levels in Media Studies, English Language, and Theatre Studies. I'm very passionate about Media and my predicted grade is an A. Hopefully this September I will be moving onto University to study Film Studies with Film Production. I'm a keen helper and I've always been willing to support others in my class for Media, as my course was based entirely on a blog and I tended to finish ahead of time it meant I could support those who were struggling. While obviously I don't know everything I am pretty confident on how the A Level works and am super willing to support. I'd prefer to tutor over Skype or something as I still live at home and will also be moving away from home soon. Additionally tutoring over Skype means I can share work over the Internet which is beneficial to the course.
