English - CELTA qualified since 1989, certified Cambridge University Exams Oral Examiner, and experience at all levels from primary school to business and exam courses. I have recently trained in Aviation English, and currently test pilots and air traffic controllers to international standards.

Turkish - taught to a good conversational standard, with emphasis on speaking naturally and with a good accent. Based in grammar, but my aim is to have you speaking as soon as possible! Over the years I have developed a vast range of worksheets and other teaching materials, which you cannot find anywhere else.

My approach is flexible, and following an introductory (free!) chat with the student, I provide all materials and tailor the course to your needs.

A wide variety of materials will be used, and you are encouraged to do regular pre-study and homework. Books can be recommended if you wish.

Personal Description:
I have excellent theoretical background in theory of acoustic wave propagation in poro-elastic, and rigid-porous materials, in theory of Noise and Vibration, and in theory of Plates, and predicting the performance of poroelastic-splitter silencers in flow duct with the surface impedance of clamped poroelastic plate with cavity systems. I have a strong experience in experimental investigations of fluid loading effects on the plate vibration, and experimental demonstration of the effects of multiple perforated layers in Flow duct. I have excellent experimental experience in acouctical transmission through bone.

I have a Ph.D. degree in Acoustics and Vibration from the University of Hull. An analytical model that takes into account the effect of perforations in plates and the effect of the flexural vibrations of plates mounted transversely in a flow duct has been investigated theoretically and numerically, and used to calculate the insertion loss and absorption coefficient of plates. As a part of my Ph.D. degree I have developed, calibrated and used a large impedance tube made of concrete, in the acoustic research centre at the University of Hull. Experimental measurements have been carried out in a large impedance tube (noise barrier), to calculate the absorption coefficient and the acoustic surface impedance of the porous elastic plates. I have investigated the deflection of the porous plate theoretically and experimentally. I have also studied the effects of fluid loading on the vibration of porous plates excited by a point force theoretically and numerically. I have MSc degree in Advanced Materials, Processes, and Manufacturing at the University of Hull. I have a 1st class degree from Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Gaziantep in Turkey in 2000. I have excellent skill of using computer programmes such as; Excel, Word, Access, Matlab, BMU-Sim, ImagJ, Ansys(FEM), Auto-Cad, Mathcad.

I am currently working on Stereo-lithography (STL) bone replicas. Stereolithography is a rapid prototyping technique that creates the model in the form of successive layers of photo-polymerised resins. I have used BMU-Sim to generate a range of bone structures replicating a number of remodeling scenario states. I have performed measurements using 100 kHz and 1 MHz transducers on the STL replica bones in a water filled tank. I have developed an orthogonally-anisotropic theoretical model to predict wave dispersion and attenuation in cancellous bone. Data have been compared with the predictions. I have written reports, conference and journal papers on the research outcomes.

Teaching Experience:
During my Ph.D. degree and post-doctorial work at the University of Hull I have done demonstration classes for undergraduate students. I have supervised MSc and PhD students at the Acoustic research centre at the University of Hull. I am still registered on Alpha Tutors web site ( ), worked as a tutor of Math, Physics and Turkish. I am interested in private and group tutoring in the following areas: teaching Turkish as a foreign language, sociology, history (in particular, empires, imperialism, modern European history, enlightenment, etc.) , politics (in particular, Middle Eastern politics, state theory, theories of discourse and subjectivity, political theory). I also hold a certificate of teaching and learning in higher education, obtained from Lancaster University, the Department of Education in 2006.

Teaching Experience:
I currently do contract based lecturing at Lancaster University and previously worked as a teaching asistant in the same institution. I taught seminars of the courses, titled: Introduction to Sociology (in the Department of Sociology), Empire and Imperialism, The Creation and Destruction of Modern Europe, Enlightenment (Department of History). In addition, I also teach Turkish as a foreign language to adults and a student preparing for GSCE exams.

Tutoring Approach:
I would describe my teaching style as systematic and the teaching agenda as up to date. I prepare outlines for each class and ask the student to retrospectively read through the notes as we proceed. The interactive nature of teaching enables the student to actively engage in the thinking process and encourage them to go deeper in the philosophical underpinnings of the topic, rather than just memorising the information delivered. As we go along, depending on the subject, the student is asked to relate the contemporary material (newspaper articles, books, etc.) to the topic covered in the classes. This could be (for example, reading and commenting on the news in a Turkish newspaper, or relating contemporary debates on the global financial crisis to debates on Marx in a politics class). The student is expected to follow the tutor's instructions and repeat what is discussed in each class.

Tutoring Approach:
As a general point of view; there are four aspects of language learning: reading, writing, listening and speaking and they are all equally important. I always try to do a lot of exercises during the classes just to make sure all of these aspects are covered and rather than having a tutor-student role model in class I prefer teaching by playing games or having discussion/conversation modules. Any kind of homework is essential for self practice so I tend to give reasonable amount of homework after every class.
