Personal Description:
I am a mature female teacher (50s), experienced in teaching levels ranging from 11-plus pupils in English, Maths and Science to undergraduate students in Philosophy.
I am also an AQA examiner in Philosophy, although I do teach to the OCR Rel. Stud. Phil & Ethics specification.
I currently lecture in Philosophy, English Literature and Critical Thinking in an FE department. I run my own proofreading business also.
I am a Visiting Lecturer with the University of Sunderland's Centre for Lifelong Learning in Philosophy and Religion.
I am interested in tutoring students for the Philosophy and Ethics section (A/AS)offered by the OCR RS syllabus, and the AQA pure Philosophy syllabus (A/AS).
Although Philosophy & Ethics is my first subject, I teach English up to A2 Level.
I am also competent in French and Latin up to year 9.
Although I work in FE/HE now, I am experienced at working at secondary level.
I am also quite at home teaching children preparing for SATS at Key Stages 2 (LIT/NUM/SCIENCE) and 3 in basic Literacy and Numeracy skills, alongside any chosen subjects listed above.
Speak to me privately as I may be able to offer other subjects, depending on the level required.

Teaching Experience:

I just recently received Grade 1s (excellent) in two observations external to my place of employment.
I recently gave A/AS Level lectures at the University of Durham's 6th Form Study Day on RS and Philosophy/Ethics (March 2007).
I have taught in the FE/HE sector now for over 11 years now (college and university).
I have prepared children for the NI 11 -plus exam. in Eng, Maths and Science (5 years).
I have experience of working within the comprehensive school setting (2 years)
I have privately tutored Thai/Chinese children and adults in basic literacy
I cover for Basic Skills in Lit and NUM with adults (5 years)
I tutored groups of undergraduate philosophy students (3 years)

Tutoring Approach:

First of all, I now work quite a lot with Skype tuition which students have found to be very successful in terms of learning achieved. I myself am very satisfied with the versatility it offers. I like operating within a relaxed and informal but highly academic approach to the subject. Results count - discipline is important. I have high expectations of my students. However, the discipline I speak of is something that the student must be helped gain for him or herself. Only a love of learning can engender this and that is my primary task as an educator: to help build enthusiasm and self-belief in the student.

Perhaps one of my my best strengths is that I am a sensitive and empathetic human being, concerned not only with bringing to life the potential inherent in each individual but in ensuring that this is academically orientated and driven. Pivotal to this process is the nourishing of the student's belief in him or herself as someone capable of reaching and achieving those desired further goals. I also have a sense of humour!

The actual session is structured: after an initial diagnostic, I lesson-plan the time we have over a period or weeks and months, breaking down into elements the various sections of the curriculum needing studied. We work with past papers/with examiners' recommendations, with building on general thinking and specific critical skills, and ultimately tailor the course to the individual's needs. Some degree of homework is expected, as assessment and feedback procedures largely rely on this.

Personal Description:
Experienced trilingual tutor with excellent proficiency (oral/ written) in French and German.

I am an experienced tutor in teaching French (up to GCSE and IGCSE, AS/A'Level/International Baccaleureate and beyond). I also teach German and Italian up to GCSE/IGCSE level.

I also teach conversation and practical French for adults looking to use the language for holidays/buying properties in France etc or just for general use

Have valid CRB disclosure

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for the last 7 years at all levels and have consistantly produced good results in my students at AS/A' Level/IB as well as GCSE/IGCSE.

I am fully conversant with all Exam Boards and GCSE/IGCSE/AS/A'LEVEL/IB ETC syllabuses

I have also taught French to adults at all levels for example who have just wanted to be able to converse comfortably while on holiday, also to those who want to learn from scratch as well as those who are already at a reasonable level and want to improve their oral and writing skills for business or pleasure

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is firstly to assess closely where the gaps in my pupil's knowledge are and then build on closing them through grammar and vocabulary. I therefore give my students the building blocks to construct their own sentences in writing and speech.

I will work with them sometimes using their own text books but also I provide my own material to make the lessons more interesting. I will use games/quizzes as well as focussing on past papers and oral exams to help them gain confidence in the language.

I engage well with all my pupils and they always enjoy their lessons with me so that their time with me does not feel like just another extension of school

My conversation lessons with adults are always fast-paced and fun and my pupils widen their vocabulary and gain confidence in the new language very quickly

Personal Description:
I am 43 years old. I like being a teacher and I get true enjoyment from sharing my knowledge and skills with new learners, making them realize how easy learning can be and how much actually they do know already. I like helping young people enjoy learning and making learning easy for them. I am patient and adaptable and easy to talk to. I always discuss the needs of my new pupils very carefully and aim to build their confidence in the subject. As an Examiner with a well-known Board, I am able to help my students to maximise their potential using targeted revision and exam techniques.

Teaching Experience:

I have been a teacher for 14 years. I have always wanted to be a teacher. I have worked in several schools now, gaining experience from working with a variety of learners of various ages and learning styles. I have worked within the requirements of more than one examing board, therefore I am quite familiar with all exam formats. I have been a tutor also for 10 years with very good results. Students do like me within first session, gaining confidence and self reassurance that they are capable of a lot already. Only some issues need re-addressing, building on their prior knowledge. I have been an EDEXCEL expert marker for six years now. I am recommended as a tutor by Emmanuel College and Cardinal Hume School in Gateshead, as both schools know me well. Among other teaching positions I have been a classroom teacher at Lord Lawson School in Birtley and Whitburn School in Sunderland. I have worked as an intervention teacher (one to one teacher) in a few schools already, due to my extensive experience gained along the pas years.

Tutoring Approach:

Within the first session, I discover the individual needs of my learners, their strengths and weaknesses. Then I devise a plan to address the whole programme of study within the number of weeks available, so no topic is ignored. I work simultaneously on exam requirements, but also on skill development, skills that the student can benefit from, outside the boundaries of a specific exam format. Students find themselves forgetting the time, often engrossed in their work, mentally challenged and stimulated. I set short homework at times, so that students can practise independently on those skills they develop with me, being reassured that they can transfer those skills further. I do provide learning materials which I do personalize for each student. I am very likable and I do make young learners be at ease within minutes of meeting them.

Personal Description:
Confidence is often the stumbling block for learners, and I always encourage all of my students to feel an early sense of achievement. Enabling students to see real progress quickly is essential to the building of self-esteem. I am very approachable and my style of teaching is relaxed and friendly. I love my job and hope that my own enthusiasm inspires my students to excel. Recently I have added French to my repertoire, for absolute beginners. I am sure French will be as popular and exciting as English has been.

Teaching Experience:

I have been an English teacher since 1976. I have taught all age groups, from nursery to A Level. Teaching is a wonderful and totally satisfying vocation. I moved across to tutoring as I felt I could offer all of my experience in this role. Being a teacher is definitely something I was born to do, and I love it.

Tutoring Approach:

Students can learn by either visiting my home or at a distance using Skype. Every student is assessed as an individual and the content of their course tailored to their needs. I test my students periodically to ensure progress is going smoothly; also testing is a good way for students to observe their own progress. We use a variety of materials: books for writing and reading, the computer for visual skills and games, listening and speaking is a major part of the programme for EFL students. Children learn in different ways, and I like to offer my students visual, auditory and kinetic tools, we can see which is most comfortable for the individual. The speed of learning is not as important as the confidence of the individual and their inspiration and motivation to progress.

Personal Description:
I'm a 25 year old Mathematics graduate from Bristol University. I spent my 3rd year abroad, studying maths on a French island off the east coast of Africa, and becoming fluent in French.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience teaching all abilities and ages, and a good track record of results, with pupils always attaining or surpassing their targets.

Tutoring Approach:

Maths
In sessions I generally stick quite closely to the course, revisiting the school lessons and homework to target weak areas, whilst also working on a more thorough general understanding. When possible I let the tutee lead the session, so that they get the help they actually need, usually asking a few quick questions on any material skipped over to check for problems, but my teaching methods vary to suit my tutees.

French
I teach fairly independently of the school topics, revising grammar where necessary, as it is good grammar which makes everything else possible, but concentrating on speaking French as much as possible during the sessions, especially with A-level students, since this gives them the confidence they need to access the higher marks. I try to minimise rote learning as much as possible by working on generalisations and explaining the reason, and sometimes history, behind the otherwise random and confusing spellings and exceptions.

Personal Description:
I am about to graduate from my masters degree in Financial Computing at UCL with a distinction and also did my bachelor degree in Mathematics (Upper Second Class) at UCL. I am starting a job in Equities at Goldman Sachs in London in June.

Having spent my childhood in Luxembourg, I am fluent in 4 languages (German, French, English and Luxembourgish) and semi-fluent in Swedish.

I also teach the piano, as I have played the piano since the age of 3. I have won several international piano competitions (e.g. 1st Prize in the International Chopin Piano Competition in Taiwan).

I currently have several projects in which I am the lead website programmer and designer and am more than happy to pass on my knowledge, acquired through countless hours of programming, research and online tutorials.

Teaching Experience:

For the past 3 years, I have continuously had 4 or more students in Mathematics, German and Music. All my students have managed to reach their goals, be it personal achievements or needing to be prepared for exams. My most promising student started out with an average of F in German and, a year later, successfully completed his German GCSE with an A*.

Tutoring Approach:

All of my students enjoy my teaching style as it is less formal and thus more relaxed. It has made all of my students motivated as, from my overall experience, the last thing a kid or teenager wants to do outside of school is a lesson that reminds them of school.

Personal Description:
I am a registered Speech and Language Therapist and have been practising since 2011. I also hold a BA in Linguistics and a TESOL/TEFL Certificate to Teach English as a Second/Foreign Language.

I am a mother of a 10 week old daughter and so I love spending time with her when I can. I love music, reading, going outdoors, and exploring England.

I currently volunteer for the National Autistic Society (NAS) to help with fundraising and providing family support.

Teaching Experience:

I work with children with a variety of special needs, both pre-school and school age, including Autism, Dyspraxia, Global delay, speech/language delay and disorder, language impairment and dyslexia.

I have been doing TEFL with both children and adults, beginner to advanced since 2008.

I have been tutoring English Literature GCSE since 2012. I am familiar with WJEC, AQA and Edexcel examination boards and have achieved A* grades with my students.

My ability to equip a student for studying comes from my longstanding experience as a student myself. Therefore, I am more than qualified to support such students both virtually and face to face. I currently mentor a Speech therapy student via Skype.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is person centred, giving the student some control of what activities they do. Lessons are designed around the individual's motivators, and so time is spent identifying these. My approach is about empowering the student and helping them to recognise that literacy and communication is FUN!

I work collaboratively with parents/carers and professionals involved with the child. If I'm working with adults, I will set a block of therapy or a teaching programme with the student so that goals are individual to you and your needs.

I believe language is 24/7 and so learning a language or therapy is not just achieved through the teacher/therapist but also with every other person that you come into contact with. Therefore, it is vital to practise language when I am not there.

Personal Description:
I am an experienced teacher of both classics and modern languages, and have taught in a variety of secondary schools. I have stopped classroom teaching now because of the demands of a young family but I am keen to carry on teaching in a different capacity. I am passionate about languages, words and communication and love to share this with others. I have lived abroad for prolonged periods in France and Italy, and travel to see friends there whenever possible.

Teaching Experience:

Since completing my PGCE in 1992 I have taught Latin, Greek, French and Italian, from beginners to A level and Oxbridge, in secondary schools, both private and state. More recently I have been giving private lessons to both adults and teenagers.

Tutoring Approach:

Successful language teaching should combine a fun approach using oral practice including song lyrics and games with a more structured approach to grammar; this gives the student confidence that they really understand the language used. The advantage of private lessons is that I can focus on what the individual learner wants, which might be lots of oral practice to become more proficient at speaking, or to pass a specific exam. I do like to set homework from week to week as this is an important part of progress; but it is not compulsory!

Hello and thanks for taking the time to browse my profile.
I am available to tutor up to any level of Spanish, as well as up to GCSE level French or Maths.

Teaching Experience:

I`m an experienced classroom teacher available for French, Spanish or Maths tuition.
I studied BSc Accounting with Spanish before taking my PGCE, and I have experience of tutoring English to Spanish schoolchildren as a language assistant, and also of tutoring English to individuals privately in their own homes.
I am now a full time teacher of French and Spanish in one of the top boarding schools in England, having previously worked in an "outstanding" secondary school, where I tutored children (one-to-one) in Maths after school, after having completed a short course in one-to-one tutoring provided by Hertfordshire LEA.
I am also currently studying for my MEd in Educational Psychology, which I hope to complete soon. I have recently completed the CCRS qualification.

Tutoring Approach:

I am able to tailor my lessons to suit the individual needs of each student, whether it be focussed on Speaking, Listening, Reading or Writing (for the languages), or any specific topic for Maths.
I hope to talk to you soon.

Personal Description:
Hello,

I am a French native living in the UK for two years while I have been improving my English a lot which is very helpful for me to explain French language to complete beginners. I am enjoying my new life in London.

I am educated to a Masters Degree in Business Law in France and I've discovered here in the UK an interest in teaching while taking a temporary French teaching job opportunity which finally became permanent.

I started teaching French as a private Tutor in Essex and I really enjoyed it so I would like to carry on in this direction.

My students usually describe me as friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, patient and dedicated (the school regularly collect students' opinions through anonymous surveys).

Teaching Experience:

I have been a private tutor in France in various subjects like Maths, English, Spanish, and help to general homework.
In the UK, I have been a private tutor in French for over a year. I first had a couple of students who were two brothers aged 12 and 13 years.
Since January 2013 I have had quite a number of private students through Tutor UK and most of them are still currently learning French with me.
I have been teaching French for a private Languages School for almost a year now and have gained an amazing experience in teaching. I am really enjoying sharing my knowledge and see my students improving, asking useful questions, and having fun after all, speaking a new language as if they had always known it.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to Tutoring is very adapted to each student as this is the main point of a private tuition.
After assessing my student's level and setting their goals whether they would like to improve certain skills (eg. accentuating speaking, or listening, or grammar..) or to learn from the beginning.

I provide grammar rules and methods, using a lot of examples and vocabulary. I give my students exercises to practise and make sure they understand the grammar part which is important for understanding the language and how to use it. I try to vary exercises between pronunciation, sentences construction, reading and writing for beginners and improvers, including more conversations for improvers and advanced students.

I believe there is no secret, to learn or improve a language, practising is the key.

NB : Prices advertised on the subjects section correspond to £15/1hour/1person, couple or small group tuition available at very competitive price. Please note that £5 extra per session may be charged upon mutual agreement if travel costs me more than £5/return OR lasts more than 1hour/1way.

Personal Description:
I am currently a primary school teacher in a london school. I have a passion for teaching children and have been graded outstanding on my observations. I have a calm and patient persona and pride myself on being friendly, happy and outgoing.

Teaching Experience:

4 years BA QTS teacher training in liverpool
1 year teaching in a london primary school currently entering my second year. I have had experience teaching many stages of the primary curriculum from nursery right up to year 4.

Tutoring Approach:

I follow a concrete, pictorial, abstract approach to teaching. It is important to lay foundations and have a approach which the child is confident with before tackling different complicated questions with less support. I aim to do this by trying out as many different approaches as possible with them first and gently guiding them through the techniques needed to solve problems.
