| Personal Description: Hello, I am a Masters student studying at Queen Mary and I already have a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science. I currently live and study in inner London, so travelling is not a problem for home tutoring. I also tutor students from my own family home if that is something you should prefer. I teach students from the age of 5 years to undergraduate university level. My primary subjects are the sciences, specifically BIOLOGY & CHEMISTRY and i do well teaching numeracy and literacy for primary school children. |
Teaching Experience: As mentioned already I am a Masters student, I am NOT a qualified (PGCE) teacher. However I do hold a current CRB check. I currently teach Biology and Chemistry GCSE and A-Level students and I also teach primary school children. I am familiar with the current primary and secondary school curriculum as well as what is required for students to success in exams ie exam technique and revision plans. Especially if you are looking for help with GCSE and A Levels subjects. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe every students' needs are different from one another. I also believe that every child has the potential to succeed academically. Schools often have one set way of teaching something, however not all students learn the same way. Some are better with reading books whilst others need that extra bit of time and attention. I understand this, and will work according to the students' best learning ability ; ie Kinesthetic learner or visual learner etc. A will do my best to improve the grade of the student by working as a team. |

| Personal Description: I am a mature female teacher (50s), experienced in teaching levels ranging from 11-plus pupils in English, Maths and Science to undergraduate students in Philosophy. I am also an AQA examiner in Philosophy. I currently lecture parttime in philosophy in an FE department. I am also a Visiting Lecturer with the University of Sunderland's Centre for Lifelong Learning in Philosophy and Religion. I am interested in tutoring students for the Philosophy and Ethics section (A/AS)offered by the OCR RS syllabus, and the AQA pure Philosophy syllabus (A/AS). Although Philosophy & Ethics is my first subject, I teach English up to A2 Level. I am also competent in French and Latin up to year 9. Although I work in FE/HE now, I am experienced at working at secondary level. I am also quite at home teaching children preparing for SATS at Key Stages 2 (LIT/NUM/SCIENCE) and 3 in basic Literacy and Numeracy skills, alongside any chosen subjects listed above. Speak to me privately as I may be able to offer other subjects, depending on the level required. |
Teaching Experience: I just recently received Grade 1s (excellent) in two observations external to my place of employment. I recently gave A/AS Level lectures at the University of Durham's 6th Form Study Day on RS and Philosophy/Ethics (March 2007). I have taught in the FE/HE sector now for over 5 years now (college and university). I have prepared children for the NI 11 -plus exam. in Eng, Maths and Science (5 years). I have experience of workign within the comprehensive school setting (2 years) I have privately tutored Thai/Chinese children and adults in basic literacy I cover for Basic Skills in Lit and NUM with adults (5 years) I tutored groups of undergraduate philosophy students (3 years) |
Tutoring Approach: I like operating within a relaxed and informal but highly academic approach to the subject. Results count - discipline is important. I have high expectations of my students. However, the discipline I speak of is something that the student m,ust be helped gain for him or herself. Only a love of learning can engender this and that is my primary task as an educator: to help build enthusiasm and self-belief in the student. Perhaps one of my my best strengths is that I am a sensitive and empathetic human being, concerned not only with bringing to life the potential inherent in each individual but in ensuring that this is academically orientated and driven. Pivotal to this process is the nourishing of the student's belief in him or herself as someone capable of reaching and achieving those desired further goals. I also have a sense of humour! The actual session is structured: after an initial diagnostic, I lesson-plan the time we have over a period or weeks and months, breaking down into elements the various sections of the curriculum needing studied. We work with past papers/with examiners' recommendations, with building on general thinking and specific critical skills, and ultimately tailor the course to the individual's needs. Some degree of homework is expected, as assessment and feedback procedures largely rely on this. I like to thik I operate as a first among equals |

| Personal Description: I am 42 years old, female, and live in Witney, a growing town near Oxford. I am married and have a family of my own (now almost grown up! ) and have been teaching locally for almost 10 years. I am outgoing, friendly, reliable and communicative. I have a passion for English language and literature and enjoy my job immensely. In my leisure time I enjoy meeting friends, socialising, travelling, walks, theatre, reading and writing, gardening, yoga and swimming. |
Teaching Experience: I have 10 years teaching experience, covering a wide age range including Primary & Secondary after -school tuition, SATS/GCSE and ALevel preparation. I do 1-1 private tuition and groups. I also teach EFL at all levels from beginner to Proficiency, with particular emphasis on Cambridge Exam Preparation - PET/FCE/CAE/CPE & IELTS with a good success rate. I have tutored undergraduates preparing for Finals at Oxford and advised researchers on historical/literary background. I recently spent a year working in Madrid teaching top executives Business English in-company. My first Bacherlor of Arts degree is in English Language & Literature and I graduated from Oxford University. I then completed a Further Education diploma (teaching adults in Further Education ), and a CELTA/DELTA diploma for EFL teaching. The DELTA diploma has enabled me to set up my own tutorial service in Oxford but I continue to take on extra tuition outside of this. (Please notes my rates are already reasonable and I am willing to travel to you if possible and will consider anything beyond the 20 mile stipulation but do ask for extra minimal travel costs on any tuition I must travel to outside of Witney itself. This would mean adding 60p a mile to your hourly rate. Thankyou) |
Tutoring Approach: My approach to tutoring is fairly relaxed but very structured in terms of preparation and planning to provide for individual student needs. I administer an initial placement test and needs analysis and then design an ongoing 'course' of lessons linked to the length of study time required and the student's personal objectives - e.g - to pass ALevel English with good grades to enter University. to gain IELTS level 7.5 for entry to UK University. to gain a good level for English or three 'R's pre SATS and beyond I also offer courses /lessons simply for interest/enjoyment/personal development. I am flexible, adaptable to needs, and willing to travel to individual homes or invite you here to my own in which I have a purpose built teaching space, with lots of resources. I believe in expression of voice and opinion, especially when studying literature, and encouraging students to reach their full potential. Above all, I hope to instil my own passion for language into the teaching I provide, leaving students fulfilled and genuinely having learnt something, whatever the outcome or objectives they wish to achieve. |

| Personal Description: I am currently studying primary education at university. I will graduate in July 2010 and hold qualified teacher status. I also undertake supply work within my local area and have a range of experience in a number of schools. As part of my course I am taking a TESOL (teaching english to speakers of other languages) module, this is intended for adult learners but is easily adaptable to children with little english. |
Teaching Experience: I have taught the whole of the primary age phase in a number of schools. I have a thorough understanding of the curriculum and up to date knowledge of teaching methods used to support this. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that tutoring should build on children's work in schools. In previous roles I have worked through the childs set homework and then consolidated any misconceptions using my own resources. If there is a particular weakness that needs focused attention this can be done in each session to ensure the child doesn't become bored and resen the sessions. I try to make the time as stimulating as possible as I am well aware many children do not want to do more wok after a whole day at school! |

| Personal Description: I am a graduate of the University of Oxford. I read Modern History at Saint Peter's College, completing my extended research paper on the beginning of the American Civil War and my thesis on the death of Queen Marie-Antoinette. I also specialised in religious history and was recommended for further study in the Study of Religion and Biblical Interpretation. Before Oxford, I attended a Northern Irish grammar school where I took my A-Levels in History, Politics, English Literature and Theatre Studies, achieving A grades in all four. I am twenty-two years old and currently living in Saintfield, Co. Down, ten miles outside Belfast city centre. |
Teaching Experience: I have tutored for Bright Young Things, an Oxford-based tutoring company that caters to the Notting Hill and Knightsbridge areas of London. I have also tutored several American teenagers, two of whom were completing their history research paper (the equivalent of coursework) in preparation for applying to the Ivy League. My tutoring in Belfast has mainly focused on young people working towards AS or A-Level, including repeats, and I have helped some students raise their grades in English, History and Religion by two grade-boundaries by encouraging hard-work and confidence. Over the last year I have tutored a number of individuals, including with two A-Level English students from County Antrim, moving them from a projected D-grade to B- and A-grade in the A2 exams. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe that working with each individual student's particular talents is the best way to achieve their maximum potential. I am friendly and easy to talk to with the students and I also prepare individual work-sheets and help-notes for them depending on which topic we will be approaching that week. I like to plan my lessons and see example of the students' previous written work. I take pride in my work and enjoy it very much. |

Teaching Experience: I have taught French and Spanish in two schools in East London and am used to teaching students from a wide range of backgrounds. I ahve taught both A-Levl and GCSE classes and am able to help students with any examining board. |
Tutoring Approach: My teaching is well planned and fun! I work at the speed which best suits my students and make no assumptions about prior learning. My aim is to encourage students to be as independent and as motivated as possible and I welcome mistakes and errors as an aid to future improvement! I like to include a variety of resources rather than just focus on one method. |

| Personal Description: I am a university student studying English at Warwick University. I am in my second year and completed by first year with first class marks. I am interested in English literature and language, history, the hard sciences, mathematics, classics, philosophy and music. I am patient and enthusiastic and strongly believe in the importance of educational and cognitive styles. |
Teaching Experience: Informal teaching, workplace training, business management and small-group educational environments. |
Tutoring Approach: I believe today's exams and syllabi can constrain pupils and prefer to teach from foundations and establish a broad base of understanding and confidence. I am a firm believer in the value of exam practice and technique which, along with a secure general subject knowledge, results in confidence and success with ease. |

| Personal Description: Recently, I have embarked on my gap year after completing my A-Levels and plan to go to Exeter University next year to study English Literature at degree level. I simply want to earn a little extra money as I plan to go to Asia in the summer to teach English to students in a class room environment. Having recently left school I am familiar with recent syllabi and what is expected from students in GCSE and A-Level exams and coursework. |
Teaching Experience: To learn a little about teaching others I took a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course and am now qualified to teach students of all ages. I hope that this will provide me with the opportunity to improve my teaching skills and give me the relative experience I need in order to expand my approach to teaching. I also spend plenty of time with my younger siblings and have a passion for the way children's minds develop and acquire from sources around them, this has led me to help consistently with subject matters, homework and SATs prep. |
Tutoring Approach: Throughout my education I have always obtained high grades and wish to pass on what I have learnt first hand to other students. I will not charge full rates as I am not specifically qualified to teach other subjects, however, if you or somebody else are in need of my creative, enthusiastic persona then I would be happy to help in any way I can. |
