About Rebecca:
Hello! I am a cheerful, creative, qualified primary school teacher and I love my job! I am hard-working, reliable and competant at my job. I enjoy being able to enthuse children into understanding areas of the curriculum that they find a challenge.

Teaching Experience:

I hold a BA Primary Education degree with Qualified Teacher Status. Throughout my time at university I taught in a range of primary schools in Sunderland. This offered me the opportunity to teach a broad spectrum of ages; from Reception to Year 6; I have also experienced the pressures of SATs testing! Having moved to Nottingham I now teach in an inner-city Junior School. I differentiate my teaching for a wide range of abilities as well as overcoming a varitey of language barriers. Within my degree I specialised in Special Educational Needs so am both familiar and confident at teaching children who find school a little tougher than most.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to fill in the gaps of a child's basic understanding by adapting lessons to each individual child. Whether they are a visual, audio or kinesthetic learner will alter the approach I will take in teaching them. Teaching a child how to solve a problem, or grasp a difficult concept, is not enough; I help the child understand the problem by relating it to the world around them.

I like to keep a clear record of a child's progress and am happy to discuss a child's progress with parents/carers before or after each session.

About Keat-Eng:
I am a post doctoral scientist (in research). I have a Bsc in Biochemistry and PhD in medicine. I really enjoy my work and am fortunate to use my experience and skills to tutor. A lot of the research I carry out is related to most of the topics that are covered in A levels so I am familiar and able to translate new concepts to students.

Teaching Experience:

I was registered with an agency about 4 years ago and had at one point about 12 students on a regular basis, some I visit about 2-3 times a week. Now I prefer to work my own hours and choose clients as I have gained more teaching experience and I know that I can help to improve exam technique and grades.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a friendly and easy going individual. I was also an A level student once asking all sorts of questions and not knowing how the modules are link together. As I've taught a variety of student's I've also learnt ways to help each individual understand modules and concepts and I feel that exam technique is also the key to academic success.

About Gill:
I have been a college tutor for several years now, but I returned to university after having my children. I feel that that this has given me a wider experience of people and how to relate to them. I have a lot of patience and as two of my own children had problems with dyslexia I feel I do strongly empathise with my students and their problems. I have had a lot of success in my teaching in that my learners have achieved their goals.

In college I teach history, English literature and language, academic writing skills and I specialise in working with students with learning difficulties such as dyslexia.

Teaching Experience:

I am a college lecturer who teaches at GCSE, A level, degree level and degree level. I have a good deal of experience and I also specialise in working with learners who have learning difficulties such as dyslexia or dyspraxia. Each person who has learning difficulties is an individual with problems specific to them - I work on this and also research new approaches to learning difficultes. I can honestly say that I have had great success in my teaching and do really enjoy my work.

Tutoring Approach:

I feel very strongly that whatever subject they are taking each student is an individual therefore I tailor each teaching experience to their specific needs. I am there to help them attain their goals and I put a great deal of effort into this.

About Michael:
I offer tuition in Maths, Physics and Chemistry at all levels up to A-level or IB, also Biology up to GCSE. I work full time as a private tutor; this means I am able to ensure I keep up to date with the frequent changes in the syllabus and the requirements of the different exam boards. I normally offer tuition in the student's home and the fees include reasonable travel. I have a degree and a doctorate in Materials Science, both from Oxford University.

Teaching Experience:

I have been working as a private tutor for nine years. I was previously a university lecturer in Materials Engineering. I have also taught Maths at Bexley College, and recently taught a series of GCSE Maths booster classes at a local secondary school, which were very well received.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe it is most important to encourage students and boost their confidence in the subjects being studied. Parents often comment on how much more confident the students feel after a series of lessons. I focus on the material required to pass the exams and I have many past papers for all examination boards, which I use to help the students to gain experience in answering exam questions. The students enjoy my style of tutoring and I receive many personal recommendations.

About Mohammed:
I am currently studying clinical sciences at the University of Bradford with potentials to transfer to Leeds Medical School next year. I have a strong science and I.T background. I believe you don't have to have a degree to help someone with the subjects that i tutor. The crucial point is that i myself understand these areas of learning in very much detail and can teach them to others using their best method of learning. If you need some extra support for passing your exams don't bother getting a tutor that charges ridiculous amounts of money with rewards. Just contact me and reap the rewards and because i myself have been through the procedures of learning i understand what it takes to get A's in your exams.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored kids locally including cousins and nephews. Till date no one has ever said that i couldn't help with the specific areas that i tutor in and obviosly if you understand the subject yourself in depth then it makes it easy to teach it to someone else.

Tutoring Approach:

i believe everyone has their strong points and i tutor people bearing in mind their qualities. weather your a visual, kinesthetic or audiotorial learner i will change my tutoring style to tailor your needs. Exam practice is essential and to pass them exams you need to understand examiner language. I can help you do exactly that.

About Clare:
I'm energetic, driven, fun and hard working. I like to always try my best and expect this from my pupils too. I think learning of any level should be stimulating and fun for everyone involved.

I did a degree in English and American Literature at Manchester University and then went to work in the film industry in costume production. 2 years later I realised that teaching was my future and I haven't looked back since.

I've just got married and moved to the area and am looking to start up some tutoring work and carry on teaching.

Teaching Experience:

3 Years teaching mixed age range class in a primary school in North Devon.
1 year teaching a year 2 class in British council school of Madrid.

Ran a life-drawing class in London for young adults.
Helped run After-school Art class in North Yorkshire.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very adaptable in my teaching. I think it is best to fit your teaching around the pupil rather than the other way round because people all learn and respond in such different ways.
I expect my pupils to work hard and I like to challenge them to stretch themselves. I believe that you need to enjoy yourself whilst working in order to learn in a more effective way so I also try to bring this into my teaching where appropriate.

About Rachel:
I have been teaching English and Drama for the last 4 years. I am passionate about English Literature and I think this comes across in my teaching style. I really want young people to enjoy reading and become confident users of English.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in a variety of schools:
Davison Church of England High School for Girls, Worthing, West Sussex
Oldfield High School, Bath
Wyvern Community School, Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset

I am now Assisant Head of the English Faculty at Wyvern School.

I have been a key stage 3 SATs examiner for the last two years.
I have taught both the WJEC and AQA GCSE syllbuses.

Tutoring Approach:

Over the last 4 years I have tutored pupils who have struggled in lessons. I find that working one to one with these pupils has had excellent results. It is important that pupils feel comfortable with their tutor and able to express themselves. I begin with looking carefully at the curriculum and discussing with the pupil the elements that they find difficult.

About yvonne:
I am married with no children and enjoy teaching very much. I have a range of interests outside of education. I particularly enjoy reading, crafts, swimming, cycling and running. I am interested in conservation and have involved the children at my school in a number of projects, including the development of a school vegetable garden. I think the children I teach would describe me as patient, calm and kind. I believe it is important that children have the opportunity to develop a their own pace and encouraged to find their own particular skills and talents.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught in the Primary sector for the last 26 years and have been at my current school for the last 10 years. Most of my experience has been with Foundation Stage/Key stage 1, although I have also taught Key Stage 2 Children. I have experience especially of teaching Year 2 children and so have a good understanding of the requirements for the Key Stage 1 SATS. I have tutored children of this age on a regular basis.

Tutoring Approach:

I always start by assessing the pupil to find the pupils level of attainment and identify strengths and areas for development. I believe it is important to break the learning up into manageable steps and to set targets for the pupil that are easily attainable. By doing so, the pupil develops greater confidence and is more likely to progress further and faster. Depending on the individual needs of the pupil, an individual programme of work can be developed, that will ensure individual learning styles are catered for.
