About Rebecca:
Hello! I am a cheerful, creative, qualified primary school teacher and I love my job! I am hard-working, reliable and competant at my job. I enjoy being able to enthuse children into understanding areas of the curriculum that they find a challenge.

Teaching Experience:

I hold a BA Primary Education degree with Qualified Teacher Status. Throughout my time at university I taught in a range of primary schools in Sunderland. This offered me the opportunity to teach a broad spectrum of ages; from Reception to Year 6; I have also experienced the pressures of SATs testing! Having moved to Nottingham I now teach in an inner-city Junior School. I differentiate my teaching for a wide range of abilities as well as overcoming a varitey of language barriers. Within my degree I specialised in Special Educational Needs so am both familiar and confident at teaching children who find school a little tougher than most.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to fill in the gaps of a child's basic understanding by adapting lessons to each individual child. Whether they are a visual, audio or kinesthetic learner will alter the approach I will take in teaching them. Teaching a child how to solve a problem, or grasp a difficult concept, is not enough; I help the child understand the problem by relating it to the world around them.

I like to keep a clear record of a child's progress and am happy to discuss a child's progress with parents/carers before or after each session.

About Bryan:
My name is Bryan, I am a 35 year old Scottish man. I have over 14 years experience in IT and worked all over the world as an IT Professional. I am very patient, and can communicate well at all levels, with all age groups, and with all skill levels. I enjoy working with people and helping them to understand how to develop their own potential. I am equally comfortable helping primary school children as mature adults who are interested in developing some basic computer skills.
Tutoring works best when the student is in a relaxed environment, so if you would like tutoring in your own home, i can provide that for you.

Teaching Experience:

I have 14 years of IT experience, 10 years of this has been in senior roles where training, teaching and development of less experienced staff or "newbies" are an integral part of my job. I have worked with people from all over the world, so i am very good at speaking clearly and understandably so you will get the most from my tuition. I am happy to provide a copy of employment history, CV, references, certificates upon request.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe there is no such thing in IT as a stupid question, it takes confidence and self-belief on your part to develop new skills. I can make the tuition as complex or as basic as you would like it to be - you decide. I believe that the best way to train is to discuss with you first, exactly what you want to use the training for. Once I establish your aim, combined with other factors, such as your age, learning capacity, current level of experience, i can tailor the training to your individual needs.

About Peter:
I graduated from University in 2006 with distinction in French - I lived in Bordeaux for 15 months during my course. I now work days during the week, but love tutoring French when I can in the evenings or at weekends.

Teaching Experience:

I have previously tutored French from pre-school level right through to University level. This has been a mixture of both home based and classroom based. I also taught English while living in France.

Tutoring Approach:

I genuinely enjoy tutoring French - and this comes across in my tutoring style. I always work to give students a solid foundation in the grammar of the language, so that this can be used as a platform to improve and develop skills. I am familiar with the requirements for GCSE, A-level and university level French. My approach to tutoring French is still fresh and down to earth yet focused. Tutoring sessions can be student led in terms of content or I can offer a structured programme. I am a natural communicator and can quickly build a rapport with people. Previous students tend to say that they actually enjoy sessions with me.....unbelievable!

About Sinead:
I have successfully completed a 4 year degree in Philosophy and Theology&Religious Studies from the University of Limerick. This encorporated a TEFL qualification and enabled me to teach for 1 year in a local secondary school. I have since moved to London and studied a PGCE in St. Mary's University, Twickenham and have achieved QTS in Religious Education (secondary) after completing my NQT year.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching in a high achieving, "outstanding" (OFSTED) secondary school for the past 2 years and my exam classes have achieved very high results in Edexcel GCSE modules over the 2 years. I taught forayear in a secondary school in Ireland where I was required to teach English, R.E., and extra classes for SEN students. I have tutored in English and Irish in the past also.

Tutoring Approach:

I have found that tutoring offers the student a more accessible, personalised approach to learning and offers the student the opportunity to gain more from a subject. Tutoring would ideally be tailored to meet the needs of the individual student and would not supplement school based learning but rather compliment it. My approach to teaching is similar to that of tutoring where I like to help students relate to topics covered easily and use examples/stories to help them recall information.

About David:
I am a highly motivated Grammar School student currently in my last year of studies, taking a double A Level in Maths(Maths and Further Maths), Physics and Computing all predicted grade A. I received an A* grade at GCSE in both Mathematics and Physics, for my other GCSE subjects I received 4 A's and 5 B's. I am currently ranked fifth in my year and next year I will be studying a maths based degree at university. I am also a scout and have previous experience with teaching new skills to younger children. For Physics I teach up to GCSE and Maths up to A Level (specialising in the core modules).

I have a CRB check through my scout group and I can give references from my school and scout group on request.

Prices can be negotiated if tutoring more than one person per session.

Teaching Experience:

I am currently tutoring GCSE Maths and Science two hours a week to a year nine student, and as an older scout I have taught many skills to younger scouts such as knots, cooking, camping etc.

Tutoring Approach:

I use the subject's specification from the exam board, to ensure that every topic has been covered and that the tutee is fully prepared for the exam. Once all content has been taught I encourage the tutees to take past papers as the examiners like to ask.

About Nora:
I have just left a PGCE primary course after deciding teaching in a classroom environment was not for me at this point, preferring to work one on one with children. I am a language graduate from the University of Glasgow and currently live in Whitstable, Kent. I am very aware of the primary curriculum and my strong subjects are literacy, numeracy, art and languages.

I am a very patient and hard-working tutor and see the potential in all individuals. I have developed very useful skills for spotting difficulties in learning, particularly at primary level and how these can be tackled effectively.

Teaching Experience:

Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow. Educational outreach programme. Working with young people in art projects.

Spanish and Portuguese private tuition to beginner adults.
Work in primary schools as trainee teacher and before this as a helper.
Teaching English in Chile to individuals and in a language school.

Tutoring Approach:

I am very thorough and would make sure I know exactly what is required from my teaching. For example if it is geared towards an exam or an area of learning that requires support, I would focus on this area and draw up a learning plan, within a time frame.

I believe in encouragement and creating a safe, friendly teaching environment. I also believe in looking at individual needs and would not have a set, rigid structure for all students, especially with younger learners who require a variation of teaching methods. I am organised and use tuition time effectively to insure the students learning progresses.

About Gordana:
I have been teaching chemistry for last 25 years as a classroom teacher and home tutor. My teaching and tutoring experience covers KS3, KS4, A-level and university students. Apart from teaching, I have been marking papers for KS3 Science and I marked on-line papers for GCSE chemistry.
My tutoring experience in one-to-one tuition was recently broadened to on-line tutoring which I found very interesting and as successful as conventional tutoring.
At the beginning of my career as a chemist I worked in research and I have wide experience of practical chemistry which is useful when discussing chemistry practicals with my students.

Teaching Experience:

2003 - now Tutor for GCSE and A-level Chemistry with Bath Tutors
2006/07 On line tutoring for Fleet Tutors
2006-07 On-line marker for GCSE Chemistry for OCR
2004-07 Marker for KS3 Science for AQA and Edexcel
10/03 - 7/04 Supply Teacher (mainly Swindon secondary schools)
9/96 - 7/02 Part time teacher of Science/Chemistry, Monkton Combe School

9/93 - 7/94 Part time teacher of Science Y7, 8, and 10, Kingdown, Warminster
1/93 - 7/93 Part time teacher of A-level Chemistry, Wootton Bassett School, Wootton Bassett

12/76 -5/83 Teaching Assistant for Inorganic, Organic and Analytical Chemistry, 1st and 2nd year and Chemical Education, 4th year, School of Chemistry, University of Belgrade;
Research in Organic Chemistry.

Tutoring Approach:

My main stand is to convince students that chemistry is interesting, useful and doable at any level.
I always start with 'get to know lesson' where I learn about student's expectations and his/her abilities/problems. I show them what I could do for them and we agree about general approach and broad timetable. This lesson is free.
There are 2 types of tutees: those who are retaking modules and those who want help from the start of their course. Main approach in retaking modules is going through exam papers and discussing problems, repeating parts of syllabus, adding notes and examples with learning about exam technique as well. The same approach is used with the other group of tutees, but in different order. With all tutees school work, notes and homework are discussed as needed.
For this work I use exam papers, Exam Pro data bases, Curriculum press, Topic Cue Cards, various textbooks, Chemistry Review and Internet. For on-line teaching I use free msn live chat.

As this format does not distinguish between prices for tutoring on line and tutoring at my home, the prices are: A Level Chemistry at my home 20.00/h, on-line 16.00/1.5h
University Level at my home 22.00/h on-line 20.00/1.5h
Lessons are paid in advance by cheques.

This would help me to mould them into a responsible and intellectual citizen of the future.

About Kate:
I am Polish, originally from near Krakow. I am friendly and always looking to meet new people. I am comfortable working with both adults and children. I qualified as a teacher in Poland and have had my qualifications translated into a British equivalent.

I am passionate about helping people acheive their goals and feel that I'm capable of helping people become confident, not just proficient, with the skills I am teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching children, teenagers and adults on language courses, at state schools and on private lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

I use different techniques and methods in teaching English dependant upon the learner's age, learning abilities, students' needs and interests. I teach English to children through play (games, songs, drama etc), teenagers through various exercises and acivities based on their interests (lyrics, films, texts, drama), in adult teaching I prepare different tasks involving skills they want to improve (speaking, listening, reading and/or writing).

I also take into acount the type of learner my student is, whether s/he learns better through the written word, listening or doing and teach them necessary learning techniques so that students could effectively acquire knowledge.
