Personal Description:
I trained as an actor at Arts Educational schools and have forty years experience working as an actor, director, writer and trainer. For ten years I worked as an audio director, directing many of the UK's leading actors in recordings of 150 audio books, poetry collections and drama. As a writer I have seen my plays produced in repertory theatre and by small touring companies and have also written for TV. I have been coaching people in presentation skills, acting and elocution since 2003. I teach young adults aged 18 and over and adults of any age.

Teaching Experience:
I began my career as an actor-teacher, working for small theatre companies touring schools, often leading drama workshops on educational themes. I was also Assistant Lecturer in Contemporary Theatre at the London branch of Boston University, teaching American young adults. I have been teaching private students since 2003, including business people wishing to improve their communication and presentation skills, poets who wish to perform their work live, and corporate trainers seeking voice coaching.

Tutoring Approach:
I teach at my home (or online), providing a safe, relaxed and supportive environment in which students can learn practical skills, build their confidence and discover their true ability. Lessons are tailored to meet the specific learning needs of the student, whether they are learning for fun or professional development. I work through voice and elocution techniques and performance skills for presenting. I do not teach academic studies or theory.

Unlike most tutors, I am a qualified teacher and have been a successful Head of Physics, Head of science and currently Lead practitioner in charge of STEM outreach. I am actively involved in training other to improve their Science teaching.

I am an experienced Head of Physics and fully qualified secondary school teacher in Science. I have vast experience of tutoring from year 7 up to A-level and unlike other tutors I am also teaching in the classroom. Each child is different, so I like to design a plan after first finding out where the problems arise. Every child is different and I find that you cannot treat every child in the same way. I follow the syllabuses and specification, as these are my main tools as well as past exam papers........practice means progress!

Originally a ceramic designer working in the pottery industry I am based in Stoke on Trent. I worked for The Wedgwood group producing designs for companies, airlines and hotels such as The Waldorf, Langhams, Marks and Spencer and Concorde.
Having retired from designing and teaching I now love to paint, usually in large format and in acrylic. I also enjoy oil, watercolour and pastel chalks. My sketchbook follows me wherever I go.

I started as I Design and Technology teacher in secondary and finished as head of Art and head of Design and Technology in middle school. After twenty three years I have specialised in scale model making, three dimensional artworks and inter-active artwork.

Hi, I've studied Japanese for 3 years, and spent a year in Japan and am more than capable to teach basic Japanese to anyone who would like to begin learning the basics such as Hiragana, Katakana, basic Kanji and beginner's grammar. I am also able to teach University years 1 and 2 as well. No textbook required as I will be providing the necessary materials. I aim to teach all skills equally, but can tailor my lessons based on your strengths and weaknesses. I want to help my students develop a wide range of vocabulary and enable them to understand and use every day language, such as ordering in a restaurant or buying a train ticket, discussing the news or giving their opinion on a political situation.

I always include vocabulary and pronunciation work and believe that correction is a vital part of every lesson. I encourage my students to self-correct, especially in writing, and often find that after a few lessons they are able to make progress in this area.

My classes include games (kahoot, board games, cards, hangman...), social media when relevant, BBC / radio programmes and other interesting activities that will help students increase their English skills in a useful way.

Being a structural engineer, mathematics encompasses a large part of my life. With all my experience I will be able to help your child overcome any difficulties they have with mathematics currently.

Teaching Experience:
I have been tutoring high school students mathematics for the past 8 years both privately in one on one situations as well as being a boarding house tutor in many private schools in New Zealand.

Having sat A-Levels in New Zealand and gaining an `A` for A-level mathematics, I have a good understanding of what is required to prepare for these exams.

After university, I spent a year as a Science teaching assistant in a top Oxford senior school, and a further two years as a classroom teacher abroad, mainly in China, where I taught Physics and Maths A level. Tutoring Approach:
I like to explain concepts using real world examples that students can visualise and recall the next time they have to answer a question on that topic. I absolutely love Science and Maths, and aim for my enthusiasm to rub off on my students!
