Personal Description:

I am a friendly, experienced tutor who has been tutoring for 20 years both privately, for private tuition companies and within school.

I enjoy playing golf in my spare time and going to the gym.

I have a dog and a cat and three children.

Teaching Experience:

I hold a teaching degree in KS2/KS3 with English and a BA honours degree from Roehampton University in Education. I have also completed my postgraduate studies in early years teaching. In 2012 I opened a tuition centre in Battersea where I specialised in teaching maths, English and the 11+ to children of all ages and abilities. I sold the business in 2019 to pursue tutoring privately from home so I could work alongside raising my children.

I have been tutoring for 20 years. I have also worked in primary and secondary schools with children of all abilities. I have worked for private tuition centres as a maths and English tutor for the last 10 years. I have worked for two of the largest providers of private tuition currently in the UK. I have experience of teaching children in a class based setting teaching all National Curriculum subjects.

I managed an after school tuition centre in London for 7 years. I have been working as a private home tutor now for many years and often work with the same families for many years. I am extremely dedicated to the wellbeing of every child I teach and the parents of the children I currently work with have received very positive end of year school reports.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a really friendly, approachable person who finds it easy to build up a good rapport with people of all ages. One of my goals of private tutoring is to ensure that all children gain enthusiasm and confidence in their subject. I have worked with many children who lack confidence and giving those children a boost in their confidence often brings about a new level of enthusiasm towards the subject and a better understanding of the subject.

My first session with a tutee will involve getting to know the individual child and conducting an assessment so that I can see any gaps the child may have. It is important in the first few sessions to build a trusting relationship with the child so that they feel comfortable working with me. From this initial session I will then work with the child with any maths or English support they need. I prepare worksheets, stories, test papers and other resources for every session as my lessons are tailored to suit the individual child. I usually try to incorporate interactive learning activities for the students as this makes the learning experience more fun!
