I have been working as a private tutor for more than 15 years and during that time I have helped hundreds of students. Many of my students have gone on to study Medicine, Dentistry or other subjects at top universities in this country and abroad. I'm familiar with all of the different exam boards (AQA, OCR, EdExcel, IB, CIE).
Before becoming a tutor I had almost 18 years experience of teaching chemistry and biochemistry at university level.

I'm a full-time professional maths tutor with thousands of hours of experience of providing effective 1-1 maths tuition. I have a Cambridge maths degree, an abiding love for maths and a passion to help students enjoy and master maths for themselves!

I teach A-level mathematics and further mathematics, including IB and Cambridge Pre-U. I also teach mature students, and university students requiring maths to support other degree subjects. I have prepared students for exams from all the major exam boards, including Edexcel, AQA, OCR, OCR-MEI, Cambridge Pre-U and IB. I also prepare students for STEP and MAT and for numeracy or numerical reasoning tests, including the numeracy skills test for prospective teachers.

I have thousands of hours of experience of providing 1-1 maths tuition. At peak times in the year I have more than 40 active students on my books.

Tutoring Approach:
More than almost any other subject, maths needs confidence to be built, and a patient, individually tailored approach. Able students may need practice to strengthen problem-solving and eliminate errors, a more joined-up view of maths to deepen their understanding, and challenge to stretch their capabilities. Others find A-level maths harder going, and an imaginative and pictorial approach with plenty of real world examples is needed to achieve that "penny drops" moment!

Depending on the student, tuition may include any or all of: coaching to consolidate (or anticipate) teaching at school; revision for examinations; working through past examination papers; teaching and testing of specific sections of the curriculum; or more free-wheeling exploration of mathematical topics. By agreement with students and parents, homework may be set and marked.

I'm available to teach at almost any time in the week, either on weekdays (daytime or evenings) or on Saturday mornings. Sunday is my day off! I'm happy to teach in my own home, or in students' homes in Cranleigh or up to 10 miles away in the surrounding area in Surrey and West Sussex, including Guildford, Horsham and Godalming. If teaching outside Cranleigh I may agree an additional charge for travel.

I feel that my unique selling point is that as a student myself, I can relate to the struggles that other students encounter when subjects are taught and delivered to them. My weaknesses and qualms during the GCSE and A level period were only resolved by my own active learning to teach myself topics which I couldn't grasp correctly from lessons, and I feel that these are areas and topics many students will find difficulty in understanding, whether it be in Maths, Biology or Chemistry, and so I believe I can effectively pass on my knowledge to help students achieve the highest grades by learning the trickier topics from a different perspective. During my Law enforcement/ security/bouncing career i have encountered many dangerous situations and self defence system I'm teaching today was improved and "pressure tested " numerous times during these years.
At age of 30, while I was working as a Head of security in Hotel Nova Galeria Zagreb I started training kung-fu Wing Chun style, which is highly implemented in my style of self defence.

TACTICS AND MECHANICS OF SELF DEFENCE tutorials are offered in form of beginners, intermediate and advanced personal training or small groups training sessions that will be held on open space, in gyms or in my private space for training at home. Sessions are 90 minutes in duration.
