About Jichen:
I'm a Chinese and I'm friendly and enthusiastic towards my work. I'm also a patient person, since my work is mainly to do with children of 12-18 years old. I can work with a very positive attitude and can always be helpful.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching English in China for 4 years, and then Chinese in UK for 2 years. I majored in English education when I was in university, which enable me to have a profound knowledge of teaching. I taught students of A-level last year as well as evening class for adults, and this year I'm teaching GCSE Chinese. So I believe that I'm experienced in teaching both Chinese and English.

Tutoring Approach:

Since I've been teaching students of different ages and levels, I fully understand that I should choose different methods and teaching materials for them. But it's always important to activate students enthusiasm towards learning. So group work, pair work, individual competition as well as the media like ppt will be used in my class. Also I'd like to choose varieties of teaching materials such as flash cards and pictures to help.

About Jillian:
I am a 24 year old International Business and Modern Languages (French and Spanish) graduate from the University of Strathclyde. I have previously spent 1 year in France teaching English to University students and around a year and a half in Spain both working and studying. I am currently studying a PGDE in Modern Languages at the University of Strathclyde to become a French and Spanish secondary school teacher.

I am a friendly, cheerful, open-minded person who loves languages, teaching and meeting new people.

Teaching Experience:

Last year, I spent one year teaching English to university students in France. Here I gave conversation, grammar, phonetics and translation classes. During my year in France I also gave private English classes to a 5-year old child.

In addition to this I have spent the last three summers working as an English teacher for children and teenagers aged 4-17 on a summer camp in Spain.

I have also previously given private tuition to a Standard Grade Spanish student.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to make my classes as enjoyable and as interesting as possible since students learn much better when they are in a relaxed environment. I also ensure that all four language skills are covered: speaking, listening, reading and writing. I do everything I can to ensure that the student learns as much as possible and that they feel comfortable asking for clarification on what they do not understand.

About Theodoros:
For the last six years, I am working as a teacher in several Greek schools in London and I am teaching the Greek language to adults and students aged 6 to 14 (from basics to GCSE). In addition my 3 years work experience in Greece as a teacher helped me to appreciate the importance of being a good communicator in order to be a good classroom manager. As a past member of Greek Educational Mission, I had the opportunity to participate in many seminars for the in-service teachers and realise that through team work you can share ideas on how to curry out or improve on specific tasks.

Teaching Experience:

1)Sept 1999-2002 Primary School Teacher, appointed by the Greek government, working in primary schools in the areas of Sparta, Crete and Piraeus (Greece).
2)Sept 2002-July 2008 Heritage Language Instructor Teaching Modern Greek Language. Primary school Instructor (full -time) send by the Greek government to serve the Greek-Cypriot community in London.
3)Sept 2002-July 2008 Private tutor

Tutoring Approach:

As a teacher of evening schools and private lessons, I found it very challenging to keep the students interested in the work. This experience taught me the importance of establishing good relationships with the students in order to gain their respect and keep them interested.

About Leela:
I am a fun, confident and friendly person who loves to be able to give others the opportunity to better themselves and learn more about specific subjects. I am a very organised individual and like to expect this same attitude from the person I am teaching. At A-Level I achieved full marks for one of my English Literature papers and achieved 2 A's and a B. I have a Bsc (Hons) degree in Speech and Language Therapy from University College London which is now 7th in the world rankings, and have received the degree prize for achieving best theory to practice application. Due to my university being very academic, I have had to adopt an organised and professional attitude to my studies and hope that this is reflected in my teaching.

Teaching Experience:

I have done tutoring at GCSE level before for French and found this extremely rewarding and so would like to continue tutoring for other subjects such as Biology, Drama and English Literature. I like to be very visual with my students for example doing spider diagrams, brain storms and always making sure that the understand something before moving onto a new topic. I have also done "Teaching English as a Foreign Language" (TEFL) abroad for a summer where I taught in a deaf school in Bangalore, India. This developed my patience greatly and made me learn new and valuable skills. Throughout my degree, I have had the opportunity to teach young children from 2 years right up to 16 years how to deal with their speech and language problems and adapt my teaching to suit their levels of understanding.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a no-nonsense approach to tutoring as I expect my students to put in 110% each time, as I do for them. I like to be visual and create worksheets that will help them understand the material much better. I am also very encouraging and like to clarify that my student understands something before moving onto a new topic. I hope to gain trust with my students so that they also feel comfortable enough to tell me all the problems they have with their studies so I can do my best to help them through this.

About Melissa:
I am a young person about to commence an Undergraduate degree in Mathematics at the University of Warwick. I am 19 years old and extremely passionate about Mathematics and I firmly believe in the advantages of peer tutoring. During my 2 years of private tutoring I have found that students find it easier to relate to me because of my age. I have a very individual approach to teaching and I have had very positive results. I provide all learner resources and tailor my lessons to the national curriculum.
Students receive reports termly, are assessed monthly and set assignments weekly.
I believe in engaging my students and encouraging an individual approach to learning where a learner develops responsibility for their own learning. Despite the fact that I am very young I am highly motivated, a good role model and a very high achiever.

Personal profile:

I am a student whom has just completed my A levels and I am about to start my undergraduate course. I recently achieved grades AAAAa at A level including Mathematics and further Mathematics.

I am madly passionate about mathematics and I want to share the enjoyment I find in mathematics with young people of all ages. I was involved in a Hackney-wide scheme tutoring students in GCSE mathematics for local secondary schools. Whilst at college I set up a scheme to assist GCSE students studying mathematics which was very successful and very popular.

I have tutored in Mathematics, English and Science at G.C.S.E level for 2 years and also in A level mathematics. I have also taught students at various other levels including Year 9 SATs and at year 5. I specialise in the core and Further Pure modules at A level but can teach other modules as well. I have been described as a 'natural teacher' and my talents lie in reducing seemingly complex topics and explaining them in simple terms. I will use any example to demonstrate a point!
I have received certificates in mathematics from my college which demonstrate my ability and I was the highest achieving maths student in my year graduating overall with the highest UCAS tariff.
I love children and working with children and I was also a peer mentor and further education ambassador, working with young people and encouraging them to consider further education.
I am also quite willing to teach adult learners as I love mathematics and will teach it to any person of any age. I am CRB checked and can provide references from teachers and tutors as well as parents of tutees to support my character.

Teaching Experience:

A year and a half teaching student of varying abilities and at various levels from primary to secondary as well as first year A level. Currently teaching A level (first year) and G.C.S.E level maths, G.C.S.E level English, Year 9 maths in preparation for SATs as well as year 5 maths.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a relaxed but focused approach to teaching and learning. My students find it very easy to relate to us, I am always available to answer a pupil's needs and my students regularly contact me by phone, email or text with their problems. I do not have a set method of tutoring but try to adapt to the individual student's needs. This could include developing visual aids, including e-learning, posters and colour to increase interest as well as audio aids.
I charge 15/hour for students wishing to be taught for a minimum of 1.5 hours.
I charge 20/hour for students only wishing to be taught for an hour.
I charge 25/hour for 2 students and 30/hour for 3 students wishing to be taught for more than an hour. this price may increase for students only wishing to be taught for an hour.
The prices are ordinarily inclusive of travel costs.
Larger groups can be negotiated.

If you or your son/daughter has friends in the same age range who would also like to receive tuition then I fully accept groups of 2-3 friends from different families receiving the same tuition. The fee is the same group fee of 30 p/h.
I will travel to all tutoring locations at times that are convenient for the learners (mostly evenings and weekends). Unless the tutee would prefer to receive lessons from my home.
Style/focus and pace of the lessons are fully negotiated with tutees before we commence the lessons.
I usually will not accept lesson durations of less than an hour and a half as the extra half hour allows the lesson to be reviewed and targets and homework to be set. I recommend weekly lessons.

Contact me now! Call/email or leave a text. There is no contract! Try one lesson, and if it is not what you are looking for then you can stop using my services immediately.

About Sarah:
I am an experienced tutor in English, Maths, Science, History, French and Spanish. I am a 19 year old student, currently studying English Language and Literature at Oxford University (so I am only available to tutor during the University vacations). My passion for teaching and working with children makes me an easy and fun person to learn with, and my lessons focus on enjoyment and getting the best out of people.

I am also very results-driven when necessary, and have a good working knowledge of the 11+, Common Entrance 13+, GCSE, iGCSE and A level courses. As well as teaching the requisite material, I can offer revision help, catch-up sessions and even organisational classes, which are very effective in improving public exam results. I also have experience of the public school Scholarship system, and can provide some useful insights and feedback even to the most able candidates, which will increase their chances of success.

Personally, I enjoy reading, playing football and hockey, choral singing and playing the 'cello.

Teaching Experience:

I spent 11 months of my gap year teaching in an International School in Thailand, the British International School, Phuket. Here I taught primary English, Maths, Topic (History and Geography) and secondary music as well as English as a Foreign Language. I worked and lived in a boarding house, where I assisted with homework during the evenings, and regularly reading with the children.

I have experience of private tuition of English as a Foreign Language, Maths and English with English, Russian, Swedish and Thai children aged between 7 and 12.

I have experience of private tuition of older children of GCSE Science and AS and A level English, History and Spanish.

I achieved 4 As at A Level in English, French, History and Spanish, and 7 A*s at GCSE.

Tutoring Approach:

I work with children to get the best possible results that they can achieve, whilst promoting enjoyment of learning. My style is humorous but firm, and children generally enjoy their time working with me. Whether with homework help, learning a specific topic or working towards a high-pressure public exam, I work with tutees to help them quickly master the basics and begin putting them into practice.

About Daniel:
I am trained in Philosophy, which requires analytical and argument skills that can be transferred to all areas of study. I have just finished a PhD at the University of Nottingham and looking to take on a teaching position soon.

I am interested in art, politics, religion, ethics and language, and can teach key learning skills in any of these areas. Don't be put off by the fact that I am a trained Philosopher! The skills of philsophy are basic reading and writing skills that are used in any other subject, and the wealth of my experience in helping students to express themselves in clear terms is useful to anyone.

In addition to teaching, I can offer a careful and efficient proof reading service to anyone who wants their English language checking in written work.

Teaching Experience:

At the University of Nottingham, I have been involved in teaching on the undergraduate programme for four years. Subjects I have taught include: Religion, Feminism, Aesthetics, Imagination, Human Nature and Evolution, Political Philosophy, Time and Change, and introduction to Philosophy. I have also been involved in the provision of English as a foreign language.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach centres on encouraging students to stretch and develop their skills of analysis and expression by active participation in discussion, debate, reading and writing. I think practice is the best way to learn anything, rather than trying to memorise facts and theories, so I approach my subjects as activities that can be learned and refined through doing.

About Arif:
I am currently writing up my thesis for my PhD in Physiology at the University of Birmingham. i have been accepted onto a PGCE (teaching qualification) course at Oxford University beginning next year and have decided to tutor and supply teach in the meantime.

I am 25 years old, married and have a very friendly nature (or so I'v been told). I play a number of sports and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Teaching Experience:

I have tutored children in Maths and the Science subjects previously and am a member of a tutoring firm. I have taught practical classes at University to Medical and Medical Science students as well as taken on work experience children from school.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that tutoring is a two way process that will be more successful if the student wants to learn and how well the tutor can explain a concept so that the tutee can understand. In order to achieve this I try to make tuition enjoyable and interesting, and try to boost the students confidence in themselves.

A general (free) meeting is arranged beforehand, where the tutee and/or guardian/parent and myself will meet and discuss the requirements and any questions. Both parties must be happy with each other if this is the case arrangements will be made for the first lesson.
